  • This is extremely hard on your rope. the dirt that is on the sole of your foot gets ground into the rope fibers (below the sheath) and every time those rope fibers are moved against each other the sharp dirt fibers cut the cords. eventually you end up with an unsafe rope that looks like because the sheath shows no signs of wear.

Locking should only be used in emergency situations. either clip webbing to a jumar or make a prusik out of rope.

  • Thank you!

I'm going on an ecotour tomorrow at Alliance Redwoods and will repel down. Watching you go up helped too!

  • foot locking is faster and less tiring with doubled line. dont confurte it with double rope technique. it's like srt but with two lines. what really helps when doing this is having a double rope ascender. i use a kong twin ascender on doubled line and foot lock with that and when i get to the top i switch over to double rope technique with 30" beeline cord and a micro pully with 2 biners.

  • That is a great demonstration of footlocking the tail of your line, which is a good way for anyone to start to learn to footlock... you have the basics down like a pro... I find that bringign the knees together before standing up on the rope is easier on the joints, which can prevent repetitive motion injury..

  • nice work !!

  • petzel or cmi foot ascender would compliment that system quite well

but you didnt hear that from me.

  • Jersey strong

    trees good

...try the real thing..static double line.

    you can do it!

  • Nice work, and good to see your having some fun! Foot locking is not easy! Takes practice. Your moving on up.
