I have lived within 35 miles or so of this Shoerline for the last 37 yrs. Withness once a hang glider that cauth a thermal and basically soared several hundred feet high, up n down the shoreline for several hours straight without ever touching ground. Another visit in the late70's saw a total of three gliders, at once, hung up in trees along the slope of Tower Hill.
I worked at that concession stand for five summers and as a summer park ranger in the late 70's. I saw a lot of ambulances carry you guys out of there too. One guy caught the perfect day and went all the way to Chicago across the lake!
THANKS SO MUCH. I remember you hanglider types humping those things up tower hill. A hard little hike without carrying a burden. Great to see what you saw. Thanks again for a trip back in time, on a glider.
I live in Iowa. Found Warren Dunes by accident. Went to see a friend at W MI in the late 70's. Stopped to take a pee break. Saw the state park sign and went in. Best wander off the path thing I ever did. I am 51 now and have been in this area over 50 times through the years. What really drew me to this was the fact that this first visit we watched people hang glide from the dune. None to well. Congrats on a good flight. I love Michigan. It's the Midwest coast.
