what exactly is a hot cap? I have built two engines and should probably know but maybe I call it something else>

It's what I call the hot side of the displacer cylinder, right or wrong? tell me!

Being made of aluminium means it is a too good heat conductor and heat spreads rapidly to the rest of the engine.
