i think the horse did it the right way - rollkur is like running a marathon with on leg - so every rider should know how a horses anatomy works - until the rider understands it. So Nelson just showed his own way of *f.... o....*. Bravo ---
@MaraaijTM Nee ze blijft er niet lang opztitten. Ze is een dresuurruiter die hele hoge wedstrijden rijd. Ik vind dat ze niet lang en goed blijft zitten.
@AshleighM82 and FEIdressageprincess (hahahaha); If you had actually read my comment to the "princess" you would have noticed that I was quoting HER. My post did not say a word about Anky, dear, so you can back down now. My post referred to the juvenile and inappropriatecomment from feiprincess in which she stated, "you guys are all stupid." That is not conducive to productive discussion, and doesn't need to be posted. Your lack of maturity belies your age.
@idanum2 Yeah everyone falls off their horse but according to these critisizers who think they know what they're talking about, famous riders aren't supposed to and its "funny" when they do. I almost laugh when I read the petty accusations they make.
HorseRider11223 : LOVE your comment :) I agree and Anky isn't cruel to her horses, if she was they wouldn't work so well for her. Horse and Rider partnership is they key to success.
that horse looks so glad to have her off! and i don't think she is used to her horses acting like that because they are unable to with their heads in their chests!
OK, no one likes rollkur. Its not reasonable. But why take your anger out on anky? there are so many riders, not just dressage riders, who force their horses to do it. why dont you go yell at them? P.S - I. DONT. CARE. ABOUT. YOUR. COMMENTS. go ahead, send me hate mail. I wont read it. its a waste of your time :D
You guys are all stupid. How many of you could of held on to a bucking horse that long? And how often do the serious fei competitors complain about rollkur? They all know its benefits and anky hardly abuses it. If she goes and does it on a young horse, then its unreasonable.
@Camelotworks Um actually how about you go and learn something because very few riders could have stayed on for that long, and like I said in another comment, her horses wouldn't work so well for her if she was being cruel, you have to have a partnership with your horse to be successful like her!
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! anky is supposed to be so amazing, but she can't even ride a buck? that horse was bucking, but not that hard! yay for the horse, she deserved much worse
Why did she jumped off ? Scared of loosing control probably ? That's not what I would call a rider ... Probably easier to break horses with rollkur than to convince them to work in a real complicity .
@gabryellahm It was obviously a tack issue, horses never buck when the rider is already off. She needs to learn some stuff herself, honestly, she deserved this fall, and hopefully more to come. She just loves torturing animals with rollkur doesn't she? This cruelty shouldnt be rewarded.
@idanum2 So you have to be a proffesional to be heard? Wow someone is a little screwed in the head. Go look up Lorenzo's Oil and see how a father proved all doctors wrong to save his son!!! He got a honorary medical degree and had no proffesional training, and found the answer to a disease when doctors said it was impossible. I'm not laughing at anky, she didn't deserve anything. But she definitly got a real kick in the ass by her horse and thats not a opinion. Hope she learns from it.
@MyHorsesRBest She trains her horses for more than 30 minutes in rollkur. She makes the chin strap so tight they struggle to take it off and she uses electric whips when she trains. She also doesn't turn out here horses until they retire That was proven by one of her stable workers who quit after she learned that. Wow you think she's awesome?!? You don't know anything personally about anky and that's obvious. Unless you are cruel and follow those methods!
What kind of horse do you have I wonder? Obviously not a grand prix show horse I can see, because if you knew what horses like Ankys or any number of horses that are showing at that level would do to themselves if you turned them out you would quickly change your words.
I'm all for turning out, my mare goes out everyday, but you can't just put a 200,000$ and way way up horse, in a pasture during their period of showing and expect them to frollic and eat grass happily. If she put Salinaro or god forbid Painted Black out now she would be lucky to bring them in in one piece.
@Gabbagail1 So I would like to ask you something, lets say your a potential best runner in the world. But your mother didn't want you to get hurt, you know like every mother wants and pinned you in your bedroom and only took you out to run on the track. Now I am sure your going to say that's a dumb comparrison, but I am sure if you got locked in your bedroom for a year then your mother let you go outside you would be estatic. You deserve your freedom and so does the horses.
Now, you would have a great point if we were talking about me and not horses, but were talking about a thousand pound animal on tiny legs, that lets face it (is not the brightest animal there is) and tends to get excited and injure themselves when not used to being out on a daily basis and even then, the only thing that has to happen is the weather gets cooler and they go nuts and can easily rip off a shoe or break a leg. Now I don't know how you feel about money, but I don't like burning mine.
You just couldn't know what your talking about the way you ramble on to everyone like you do, making it your lifes work to yell at everyone who ACTUALLY SHOWS or just knows what its about. I don't use rollkur and probably never will, but I have yet to see one of anyone who use's it's horses have to be put down or go lame because of the way they ride them. I wish you would stop being so increbibly critical of someone you don't, and will never know...it's not fair to the slightest bit.
I have see horses trained with rollkur it doent look pretty and they go lame A LOT... and rollkur has finally been baned by the FEI on showgrounds and training ring before the show
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
omg! get a frickin life!!!! unless u r her superior, and can actually compete against her (and u frickin cant), I would suggest shutting up.... and like u have ever seen her anyway!!!
Please remember that falling is one of the biggest parts of riding; it is inebitable.
This was not Anky's fault nor was it Nelson's. The sitution Nelson was in would have caused much stress as there were flashing cameras and loud noises which he clearly was distracted by.
Anky is a wonderful rider. She has probably had millions of falls. It happens to everyone. Could you honestly say that you would not fall off if a 17hh gelding started bucking like this? Think twice.
Veteniraries admotted and PROOVEd rollkur and dressage methods(that false collection, double bit) damaging extremely to horse's mental and physical health. Rolkur was announced as obusive. And to any person knowing and seeing horse's anatomy is real the extra-painful break of the neck is more than clear.....
FEI knows nothing about none of these fields. And as riders' victories are more "important" for them you see the state of things that is unfortunately we have now.
Holy smokes. I have never seen a thread packed full of so much bad grammar and hate speech!
"You cant change another person, you can only love them for who they are. This is a great awareness. Remember, people become as you treat them. Respecting that someone might not be having their best day, or month, or year, it is wisest to say, Your stress is not my stress."
I think that anky is a brilliant rider. because anyone that train and ride a horse as well as she does is excellent. and i don't think people should critasize until there are videos of them competing at the same level.
so what does she call it then, mr van grunsven? Pull and Kick? Use as Much Curb as Humanely Possibly to try and get My Horse To Bury His Nose into His Chest Muscles?
so tell me what on earth is the purpose of "gently stretching the horse with a sift hand" and then warming up at a competition with a death grip on the curb, and the horse extremely hyperflexed? Would that not be completely fucking stupid as by doing this to your horse (and having had it done to my old advanced mount when he'd never done it in his life, I've got an idea) 'when you don't pratcise it at home all you'd achieve is to make the horse extremely sore? How is that supposed to help her..
win? No wonder Salinero looks so stiff and tense then...if you know anky so well seeing as you are her nephew can you please explain to me how to correctly use hyperflexion and what exactly the real purpose is behind it? Do you know wendy? or possum, as she is otherwise known.
right... she doesnt use Rollkur -.-'' stupid?! (My English isnt good, so I write in German)
@xXBL1NDF1R3Xx THANK you !!!! They can't prove any of this bulls**t, and its insulting what they accuse her of. I'm a huge fan of Anky and everyone here needs to think about what they say, especailly when they have no proof. :)
She did well to stay on as long as she did and don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish this on her, it's not a nice thing to see, but then it's not a nice thing to see a horse being hyperflexed and kicked and yanked and pulled at with strings of drool down his front and his eyes rolled back and ears flat and tails going mad either.
I think Nelson's trying to say something...he could have just spooked, was glad to free up his neck and thought maybe he'd make sure it stayed that way and get rid of what was causing him to hyperflex it...
Satchmo, Salinero, Krack C...which ever one it was that dumped her ages ago and she broke her pelvis, and shes broken arms before too, fallen while pregnant. They all resist and yet Sjef says their system is designed to eliminate all reisistance.
BUT OF COURSE TO ELIMINATE RESISTANCE!!! SUCH pain from hf is impossible to overcome! It leads to the special state of horse's mind known as learned helplessness.Horse understands that there is no more way to be free and stretch the neck because from hf position it is impossible to do!Hf is just tearing skull apart from other neck bones because the angle of this forced flexion is MUCH more than bones joints can stand normally.... So that's why this peak of pain leaves no way for resistance
he must have been pretty shitty...my sisters horse does that when he first comes back into work when he's feeling argumentative after a long break...
My horse has tried it with me before (he spooked and started pig jumping) and I ended up half way up his neck and he just stopped and let me sort myself out..
You think Anky's horse, if he trusted her enough and was as well trained as he is meant to be, would stop when he's asked. Remi did and he's only 3 and just broken in..
I'm sorry, but what? I can't stand hyperflexion, as much as the next sane person with an ounce of horse sense. My horse has never been hyperflexed in his life, I havé never forced him into a frame of any description and he's only 3 so if riding him in a slight contact, allowing him to put his head where he finds it makes it easiest for him while he strengthens is damaging to him in any way then why don't we all stop riding? Don't know wtf you're on about..
What is wrong with saying that Anky did well to stay on as long as she did, eh? Getting bucked off, and especially in that fashion, is not nice for anyone, no matter who they are, and it would simply be twisted and cruel to wish such a thing on someone. nd with regards to the ëliminating"resistance-I was simply quoting Sjef and pointing out that clearly IT DOESN'T DO WHAT HE SEEMS TO THINK IT DOES. Read before you write, eh?
Bad critizism is the DISGUSTING AND DIRSGRACE to this sport. So if any horse was to buck you off you are a bad rider also?People who have nothing to do but comment bad things are the DISGUSTING and DISGRACE to this sport! Why not go and perfect your own instead of talking about others when still you have your own problems to work with!I agree with bcbeaupied,riina221,RonaPonyyy,and all who understand of being a true competitor in the equestrian world.Never think for your horse but understand him!
Too bad Nelson didn't permanently injure her neck & spine as she does to the horses...that way she couldn't get back on and continue torturing them! She is DISGUSTING and a disgrace to the sport!
People fall off horses all the time. This fall has nothing to do with "revenge" because horses do not know what that is. Nelson clearly spooked at the flash of a camera, something many horses would do.
Yall are saying it is rolkur that made nelson act like this but any horse would react to the same thing he did...we do not know what happens in his eyes and i don't think we should think for him but understand him...this is just a reaction and natural instincts...i dont think it was rolkur. Cause can it scare him? no it doesnt say boo or anything...
Ah, I see. You are one of the few that actually know what you are talking about. You just get so many beginning dressage enthusiasts who are too hard in their horses mouths and bouncing too hard on their backs on youtube dissing Anky. They say things like rolkur originated in show jumping and the like. They have know idea it started with Uphoff. You are different though. My apologies. This problem needs to be addressed, but everyone focuses on this when there are worse things going on.
Exactly!!! Everyone doesn't really know that Nicole Uphoff used theis method way before Anky. Anky is a very good rider and is very open with her methods, rather than other riders who claim they don't use Rollkur but do! I use this method on my horses and they are very happy with it. Isabell werth, Hubertus Schmidt, Andreas, Emma Hindle, Carl Hester, Spencer Wilton and the rest use it.
Idk if anybody should be talking cause hey she is in the olympics and we are not. Plus there are many theories that we all may not go by, but if it works for ya then go for it. Until we reach that certain point we may understand or still not know why everyone does what they do. It all goes into detail but there are reasons for everyone's different ways and doing so. I think Anky is an amazing rider. She is one of my idols and I really hope one day I can go to the olympics.
ik zit ook op paardrijden en ik ben zelfs in hogere groepen gezet maar ik weet zeker als ik zo was als haar zou ik er ook af vallen of ik zou me er af laten vallen want dan heb je geen keuze! ik vind dit super knap van haar
This woman deserves to be more than bucked off. She has practiced cruelty to gain world-wide recognition for time enough. This animals rightly is protesting and getting his just due. More bucks more refusals to perform as savagely treated slaves for Anky and the rest of the world-famous crew who use cruel training methods to raise their status at the diminishing of their trusting horses' health and emotional states.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It's only because of youtube that people like you even know about rollkur. Rollkur has actually been used by the best dressage riders for decades. It certainly did not start with Anky, and many great riders over the years have used this method. Most people don't know the facts, so they just focus on Anky's use of the method. I'm not saying that rollkur's right. However, I don't understand the extreme focus on the great Dutch rider concerning this method.
She did fantastic to stay on that long! I have 3 horses like that at home, so I know how hard it is to stay on. He must have really been spooked. If he were to do it on purpose, you would have noticed it in his body, but he was relaxed. Well done Anky :)
You guys, Anky is far from the 'perfect rider.' Ever watched her in the warmup arena? She is heavy handed, hard on her horses, has problems controlling them, and is not nearly the rider she should be. Ever heard of Rollkur? That abusive practice is par for the course with her horses. Good for Nelson for dumping her ass when she tried to crank his head to his chest.
I agree. It is extremely difficult to stay on a powerhouse of a horse like that one while it is bucking that hard. He was just feeling a little bit too good. I'm pretty sure that most if not everyone posting here wouldn't have been able to stay on that horse for that long.
i just wanted to say that if you think dressage is boring then you must not know a lot about TRAINING a horse because that's what dressage literally means and that's what dressage is. : )
TwoPointProductions...if you are the amazing rider you claim to be, then why aren't you riding in the world equestrian games. Yeah anky fell off but don't we all! I don't think your in any position to judge after only doing a month of dressage!
After watching your videos I have to say that you sure talk a lot of **** on here. There is no way anyone would let you on a decent calibre horse, nor would you be put on a Prix St.George horse after 1 month of dressage.
As someone who has actually ridden on the national circuit in jumpers from 1.2-1.3meters and through to 3rd level dressage take if from me: You are not a good rider nor should you claim to be. I have worked with national and international horses and can assure that someone who rides like you would not get a finger on any of those horses.
You need to get a reality check and learn to let go. Who really cares if you've ridden an olympic horse? No one. It doesn't make you cooler or better.
i dont think i claimed to ride an olympic horse, nor claim to have ridden at those levels, and in horseback riding, if you have the connections, you can ride any horse you want, i dont believe you know me, nor have seen me ride, so please buzz off and take your crap talk somewhere else!
it was my aunts thank you very much! and please pay attention to wut is being said below, i would appreciate if ppl would get over themselves and stop replying to me and fighting battles that arent theres to fight, thanks and please feel free to take your comments somwhere else
i swear, everyone who reads any message from tpp, and replies to them can go jump in a hole. stop repying to my comments when you know nothing about me, i stated my opinions, not facts, opinions, go take your crap somewhere else, i take youtube seriously as a profession, so stop being immature and get on with your lives!!!!
This is not a hard concept. Horse spooks. Horse bucks. A very athletic horse, might I add. He is no bombproof trail horse, he is an Olympic athlete. Everyone takes their spills, this just happens to be on camera.
P.S. Nobody is hyperflexed in this video. Go look it up before telling everyone what hyperflexion is.
Could somebody ride this horse for me and tell me how "easy" it is, and how terrible a rider Anky is?
That would be because that is the small amount of time Anky would have been able to have control before he exploded. And horses think very slowly, my horse's reactions are much more delayed than that, in that second that he took before reacting, he would have been deciding whether the flash was friend or foe ;)
i think the horse did it the right way - rollkur is like running a marathon with on leg - so every rider should know how a horses anatomy works - until the rider understands it. So Nelson just showed his own way of *f.... o....*. Bravo ---

Think twice.
dangerous610 2 years ago 3
:), so a person just puts its ass on a 'subject', and the 'subject which is horse here has no emotions and is more like a chair:)Ok, great
Equestrians are falling 80% of all their "experience" and that appears to be nobody's fault:), yeh, that's the best excuse:)
fleur4198 2 years ago
wow! i m glad to see that someone still likes anky!!!
MyHorsesRBest 2 years ago
Veteniraries admotted and PROOVEd rollkur and dressage methods(that false collection, double bit) damaging extremely to horse's mental and physical health. Rolkur was announced as obusive. And to any person knowing and seeing horse's anatomy is real the extra-painful break of the neck is more than clear.....
FEI knows nothing about none of these fields. And as riders' victories are more "important" for them you see the state of things that is unfortunately we have now.
fleur4198 2 years ago 3
Holy smokes. I have never seen a thread packed full of so much bad grammar and hate speech!
"You cant change another person, you can only love them for who they are. This is a great awareness. Remember, people become as you treat them. Respecting that someone might not be having their best day, or month, or year, it is wisest to say, Your stress is not my stress."

I think that anky is a brilliant rider. because anyone that train and ride a horse as well as she does is excellent. and i don't think people should critasize until there are videos of them competing at the same level.

i dont think people realise that some horses naturally hyperflex or whatever. only for a few strides, but sometimes it isnt the rider

so what does she call it then, mr van grunsven? Pull and Kick? Use as Much Curb as Humanely Possibly to try and get My Horse To Bury His Nose into His Chest Muscles?
thecrazydolls 2 years ago 3
its called Stretching the horse we do warming up to so whats the point
you all people think she is hard handed
but some people can do it with soft hand
and have you seen her riding at home ??
she Just stretching the neck when shes riding at home
but on a show she has to ride the horse deep otherwise she loses dumb
xXBL1NDF1R3Xx 2 years ago
so tell me what on earth is the purpose of "gently stretching the horse with a sift hand" and then warming up at a competition with a death grip on the curb, and the horse extremely hyperflexed? Would that not be completely fucking stupid as by doing this to your horse (and having had it done to my old advanced mount when he'd never done it in his life, I've got an idea) 'when you don't pratcise it at home all you'd achieve is to make the horse extremely sore? How is that supposed to help her..
thecrazydolls 2 years ago 3
win? No wonder Salinero looks so stiff and tense then...if you know anky so well seeing as you are her nephew can you please explain to me how to correctly use hyperflexion and what exactly the real purpose is behind it? Do you know wendy? or possum, as she is otherwise known.
thecrazydolls 2 years ago
right... she doesnt use Rollkur -.-'' stupid?! (My English isnt good, so I write in German)

wow..she did really good to handle that Nelson horse:(too bad she fell..is she alright?
applejackpooky 3 years ago
She did well to stay on as long as she did and don't get me wrong, I wouldn't wish this on her, it's not a nice thing to see, but then it's not a nice thing to see a horse being hyperflexed and kicked and yanked and pulled at with strings of drool down his front and his eyes rolled back and ears flat and tails going mad either.
Good on you, Nelson.
Maybe she should start wearing a helmet
thecrazydolls 3 years ago

hawaiidressage 2 years ago 2
I think Nelson's trying to say something...he could have just spooked, was glad to free up his neck and thought maybe he'd make sure it stayed that way and get rid of what was causing him to hyperflex it...
Satchmo, Salinero, Krack C...which ever one it was that dumped her ages ago and she broke her pelvis, and shes broken arms before too, fallen while pregnant. They all resist and yet Sjef says their system is designed to eliminate all reisistance.
thecrazydolls 3 years ago 3
BUT OF COURSE TO ELIMINATE RESISTANCE!!! SUCH pain from hf is impossible to overcome! It leads to the special state of horse's mind known as learned helplessness.Horse understands that there is no more way to be free and stretch the neck because from hf position it is impossible to do!Hf is just tearing skull apart from other neck bones because the angle of this forced flexion is MUCH more than bones joints can stand normally.... So that's why this peak of pain leaves no way for resistance
fleur4198 3 years ago
he must have been pretty shitty...my sisters horse does that when he first comes back into work when he's feeling argumentative after a long break...
My horse has tried it with me before (he spooked and started pig jumping) and I ended up half way up his neck and he just stopped and let me sort myself out..
You think Anky's horse, if he trusted her enough and was as well trained as he is meant to be, would stop when he's asked. Remi did and he's only 3 and just broken in..
thecrazydolls 3 years ago
check your horse's back, and probably also mouth and teeth for injuries....
fleur4198 3 years ago
I'm sorry, but what? I can't stand hyperflexion, as much as the next sane person with an ounce of horse sense. My horse has never been hyperflexed in his life, I havé never forced him into a frame of any description and he's only 3 so if riding him in a slight contact, allowing him to put his head where he finds it makes it easiest for him while he strengthens is damaging to him in any way then why don't we all stop riding? Don't know wtf you're on about..
thecrazydolls 3 years ago

Why not go and perfect your own instead of talking about others when still you have your own problems to work with!I agree with bcbeaupied,riina221,RonaPonyyy,and all who understand of being a true competitor in the equestrian world.Never think for your horse but understand him!
babygirlsquirrel 3 years ago
Too bad Nelson didn't permanently injure her neck & spine as she does to the horses...that way she couldn't get back on and continue torturing them! She is DISGUSTING and a disgrace to the sport!
kbowmanphoto 3 years ago
People fall off horses all the time. This fall has nothing to do with "revenge" because horses do not know what that is. Nelson clearly spooked at the flash of a camera, something many horses would do.
bcbeaupied 3 years ago 5
Yall are saying it is rolkur that made nelson act like this but any horse would react to the same thing he did...we do not know what happens in his eyes and i don't think we should think for him but understand him...this is just a reaction and natural instincts...i dont think it was rolkur. Cause can it scare him? no it doesnt say boo or anything...

Baroudeur4 3 years ago
This problem needs to be addressed, but everyone focuses on this when there are worse things going on.
kentuckyrosesinmay 3 years ago

Well done Anky :)
nightnthunder 3 years ago
No, Nelson did it better :-)
caribamber 3 years ago 2
The recent FEI ruling is quite ambiguous on its stance, but I read it as...
It only declares rollkur abusive if it is used incorrectly...
Besides, I highly doubt this horse blew up because of rollkur. Many young horses blow up like this...and their trainers don't use hyperflexion.
kentuckyrosesinmay 3 years ago
You guys, Anky is far from the 'perfect rider.' Ever watched her in the warmup arena? She is heavy handed, hard on her horses, has problems controlling them, and is not nearly the rider she should be. Ever heard of Rollkur? That abusive practice is par for the course with her horses. Good for Nelson for dumping her ass when she tried to crank his head to his chest.

Kentuckyroseinmay,
It is tough enough to stick with an average horse, let alone one that is breed to be an athletic powerhouse.
EclypseSportHorses 3 years ago
She rode that bucker for more than 10 seconds, she would have won in a rodeo!!!
Every horse, even a good seasoned one can
throw in a buck now and then, give the lady
a break. Careful how you critize her, Karma may bite you in the jolly buttocks next time you saddle up to show you how it feels~
EclypseSportHorses 3 years ago
I agree. It is extremely difficult to stay on a powerhouse of a horse like that one while it is bucking that hard. He was just feeling a little bit too good. I'm pretty sure that most if not everyone posting here wouldn't have been able to stay on that horse for that long.

After watching your videos I have to say that you sure talk a lot of **** on here. There is no way anyone would let you on a decent calibre horse, nor would you be put on a Prix St.George horse after 1 month of dressage.
jennadee86 3 years ago
As someone who has actually ridden on the national circuit in jumpers from 1.2-1.3meters and through to 3rd level dressage take if from me: You are not a good rider nor should you claim to be. I have worked with national and international horses and can assure that someone who rides like you would not get a finger on any of those horses.
You need to get a reality check and learn to let go. Who really cares if you've ridden an olympic horse? No one. It doesn't make you cooler or better.
jennadee86 3 years ago
i dont think i claimed to ride an olympic horse, nor claim to have ridden at those levels, and in horseback riding, if you have the connections, you can ride any horse you want, i dont believe you know me, nor have seen me ride, so please buzz off and take your crap talk somewhere else!

That would be because that is the small amount of time Anky would have been able to have control before he exploded. And horses think very slowly, my horse's reactions are much more delayed than that, in that second that he took before reacting, he would have been deciding whether the flash was friend or foe ;)
