I'm gay and have lots of sex but I NEVER bareback. If you bareback, you are ignorant. It takes up to 6 months for a test to show you are positive with 99% accuracy. That means you were negative 6 months ago. What about the sex you've had since your test? What about the time since 6 months ago? A lot of time. You weren't celibate that whole time. You are taking a huge risk. It's more dangerous than riding without a seatbelt in terms of the probability of it happening. Stupid choice.

Many gay men actively seek HIV infection from "Gift Givers" so that they can join the VIP HIV Club - a club so exclusive and in-demand that in the UK we recruit in excess of 2500 gay men per year. The Internet chatrooms and sex websites and today infected with Bug Chasers and Gift Givers, as are gay pubs, bars, clubs and saunas. HIV has become a lifestyle choice, not a disease.

I am speechless to hear that contracting a horrible disease could be considered attaining a "VIP .... exclusive and in-demand" status. For a life of toxic but life-saving drugs? Please explain the benefit; is it a sexual thing?

Unbelievably many gay men view contracting HIV as inevitable and that once they have it they can enter the exclusive VIP lounge just beyond the silk ropes where the real party is happening. They never again need to worry about getting HIV as they got their wish granted and can relax in the VIP lounge. I know many guys who are now HIV VIPs, who are now trying desperately to resign from this VIP Club, but it is the one club in the world that, once you join, you never get to leave. Alive, that is.
