  • 2 i choose

  • I see a frog :)

  • the original ending is perfect, but just to be different the tamb add a nice touch. and the stick drop recovery was nice. its great to watch you stay in the pocket .

  • Ending with splash is best in this drummers opinion?

  • Tamberine and Splash! Killer Dude..My Son is 5 and he wants to follow in my foot steps musically. He wants to be a Drummer. It's been a long time. Hearing this makes me want to go out buy a new kit and jam again......Keep Rockin'

You should do Eric Johnson, Cliffs of Dover with some special licks of your own.

  • Tamborine ending...

    DUDE YOU ARE PHENOMENAL!

Why aren't you playing professionally? I can think of at least 10 session drummers that YOU BLOW AWAY!

  • @bearmassaro Thank you! bearmassaro..........More session work would be really cool.

  • Fuck man! That is awesome! Not an easy track to play but you did an outstanding job!

My dad turned me on to Boston when I was just a little kid and grew up loving them, this is my favourite Boston song to play drums and guitar with!

You could mix it up with any of the endings, they all work, but I kinda like the first alternate ending best.

  • I love the tamb. and splash ending best.

  • Great job and in my opinion, you got the ending right the first time :)

  • @phnxcmx Hey Every one likes what they like! Personally i like them all !

    Thank you for checking in

  • Awesome job here on one of my favorites from so long ago... Bravo !!!

  • i love your covers, but i cried when i saw you haven't played anything by rush :(

  • Are you sure, you are not Sib...minus the afro??? OUTSTANDING!!! ***** . Drums are miked up great!! Keep posting!!!

  • excellent.

  • My favorite Boston song to play on drums....back in the day!

  • Excellent play my friend!!

  • tambourine and splash ending first. Second, first ending, last Chinese cymbal. Not a fan of the Chinese cymbal.

  • Great playing man! I really like how your timing is spot on, very relaxed and not rushed, as so many drummers I play with tend to do when trying to do the more difficult parts. You are a true natural! and great at what you do!

  • dude, that was excellent...

  • the first is best, but your cover was amazingly correct...excellent

  • when you do snare fills and stuff do u lead with your left or right hand

  • I hope this is your day job, because if it isn't you need to quit your day job and do this...

  • @piratesplash be my manager ! I would absolutely try the advdenture.

  • The first ending is best,

    David,

  • Excellent job! Are u left handed? Youre playing the high hat with your left.

  • Great job...... Chineese...... Outstanding really. The only thing I would do is do some stick twirls for showmanship. I'm a long time guitar player that has all the respect in the world for a good drummer..... and you're good.

  • Awesome job !!! I live in the Boston area and I know Sib personally. I'll ask him to look at this . I'm sure he will be impressed and very proud of you. Check out Ernie and the Automatics , Sib hasn't lost a beat. Keep rockin !!!

  • Out -fucking-standing!!!

  • @thecuttingpoint Thank you

  • excellent job. Song wasn't hacked up and I love watching drums. I kept this one because the quality was better than most you see. keep it up

  • @gertj124 Cheers!

  • @froggpond1 i was wondering if you like the k or a series cymbals better?

also what drums do you have?

  • @buritoswithhotsauce A.........K are darker both have their own voice,,,,, but the A's are my core set up

  • Freaken awesome cover! My fav Boston song too

  • hey man just checked this video out think its cool as hell just like all the the others need to get you on my facebook sometime.guitarman

  • I like the chinese ending...great stuff!

  • Comment removed

  • Dude I swear, I live in Calif. and play guitar like you play drums. Im an old dude though. Im 53 and am still having illusions of grandure. We need to get together and PLAY! Im tellin` ya dude, we would friggin BLOW SMOKE!!!

  • DAMN that was nice! Beautiful kit (Tama?), EXCELLENT mic set-up that sounds Perfect, and you played it so sweetly... Which ending is best? I love them all actually.

    Cheers!

  • besides the great drumming you also made a good video itself

  • Damn. Couldn't be more perfect. That was awesome.

  • I am a guitarist , and i listen to a lot of people on you tube . Some impress me and some don't . You dear sir , have a talent . You have the bounce , rhythm , and G-force it takes to provoke others to perform dynamically. You also have a really good inventive side . I hope that you are out playing with other musicians , or at least studio gigs !

  • dude, lovin the drum set and the cover. how much would a kit like that cost?

  • Nice dude...I love your style...spot on...:)

  • Good job i play drums myself, nice kit.

  • froggman. i wanna thank you for giving me the pleausre to listen to an excellent drum cover to one of my many favorite songs from one of my favorite bands !!

are you sure your not their original drummer ? lol, excellent job !!!!

  • Thank you ! It is very satisfying to have my crazy fun jazz people!

    Thank You!

  • I love this song!! Rap and beatbox today are pathetic attempts by no-talent individuals to create music. Whatever happenned to great music like this. Now it's replaced with "shoot the cop and slap the hoe" music.

  • @vyperpilot LOL too funnny............. I love great music for the musicianship and the messages...................yeah slap the hoe, where's the upside to that?

  • heres a little known fact

this is the only good drum cover of this song on youtube

    great stuff, dude

  • Thank you !

  • That made day! LOL

    Cheers

  • thank you for posting man, My all time favorite song to drum to and the first one I ever drummed to. you're style similar to mine but not as fast, but your own speed makes it you, thanks again. Do continue posting more Drum covers to Boston Cause there fun to Watch. I can compare myself to others and see were I stack up in drumming. keep up the work man I look forward to more covers If you could.

  • @TGDrummer99 I was a kid when ths 1st came out and wore out the record ....yup an lp............

  • @TGDrummer99 WOW! It would be a gas to communicate with him.

I posted this because I couldn't find a good rendering online. Clearly this is Sib's work and I merely ape him. I am in the MPLS area and lay out once in a while, and do some session work. The days of touring are all but done for me. Still having fun though. I think young drummers finding my post have been turned onto Boston which I hope is favorable for all the band members.

    Cheers

    Petar

  • this is great, 1:50 is the hardes part of the song to play, how do you play it.

  • dude, one of my all-time favorite tunes, period! This takes me back to my youth, headphones on walking through Canandaigua High with the first ever real Walk-man cassette player. I must have worn this and Don't Look Back tapes out. Thank you for sharing. I gave you 5 for innovation, playing skill, and song selection.

  • Thank you, and I am glad you found my zen fun entertaining.

I know I wore out the 1st Boston album,,,,,,,,,and an 8 track,,,,,,,when i finally upgraded to cassette! OOOh the 5lb walkman! LOL

We were just lucky to come up at time when music was still being made by musicians who could innovate and play. There still are many today , but the marketing dept's at the record companies rule the roost.

  • im growing up in the times of rap and hip hop. for what music selections i like, i believe i was born in the wrong era for music. Boston is my favorite band of all time and the scremo and rap of today is just a failed attempt to try and make up for the great vocals that existed in the 70s 80s and 90s.

i love your covers, some of the best i have heard. and i love how you recovered from the stick loss flawlessly. GREAT JOB!!!

  • Thank you ,,,,,

I am glad that some people recognize music played by musicians. Not that the modern music require no talent,,, because in a way it does. But I agree there is music which transcends ages and,,,,,,,,it surely seems that only certain players can hang with it.

Keep on the pursuit of excellence it's a wonderful journey, and most of all keep an open mind!

    Ribbit

  • that was just awesome. makes me wana go out and buy a drum set and do that hahaaa!

  • I think you should !

  • i like the frogged ending the best. Keep on rocking!!!!:)

  • Listening with a pair of AKG 240 DF. Cans

WOW ! Love the pop on the snare

  • Thanks for the promo!!! and i am glad to hear you too own a pair K240DF's

  • Hi Petar ..I sent my brother the link to this for him to see it.. I saw him at school the other day. He comes up to me and says..... That friend of yours the drummer. Man he is great !

Wanted to share that with you !

    Dave.

  • Last one is my Favorite ending.

This album still to this day makes me smile !!

Petar your style is like watching ballet !

  • it's dancing on a chair........less the tutu

  • hey man would like to make a request if you could. the ozie tune called crazy train.

  • You can get it from your favorite upload place YOUtube lol if you need the cd or records they can be found online also thanks for the reply

  • You nailed it again I think I like in order of preferance the first the third then the second. I would love to hear a couple of Frankie Beverly and Maze covers by you not sure if that is your kinda of Genre but I know you can pull it off, Happy feelings and the Golden time of day would be a start lol

  • 1st thank you for the comps!

2nd where do I find the music you are speaking of?

  • my favorite boston tune, guitars, bass, and powerful drums"ludwig" i think your's sound good too and good job.

  • Nice as always, Petar - I go for the first ending - not the china...

What you got hapenning at 1:21...There's and extra ghost or something, can't figure it out, but I love it!

    Cheers (from the other QC'er)

  • Outstanding job as always Petar, thanks for sharing your talents - love your taste in music!

As far as the ending, cast my vote for the tambourine & splash- looking forward to your next post!

  • dude ur dirty.... u in a band?

  • LOL arrg!!! filthy dirty!!!

No band at the moment. I really want some better gigs and quite simply will not compromise.

  • yea i got u. u should really post some stuff online on some websites... theres a load of websites that are dedicated to getting ppl together to form bands and stuff

  • Nice work! Also one of my favorite 'guitar' songs - and my favorite Boston track to drum to! My kit is a first gen Yamaha DTXtreme 6 pc (wood shells) with Pearl mesh heads. Unfortunately, the brain limits my cymbal inputs to just 4, so I'm envious of all the variations you can pull off with your acoustic kit. Inspite of these limitations, I try to play it pretty close to the original, but wish I had your precision and creativity. I'll work on that (albeit righty only). Great stuff!!!

  • That sounds just friggin' great. I wish I could here "Let it ride" with that much detail on the bass! This just keeps keep getting better and better. You must have taken some lesson from that French guy!!!

  • We are Both From PQ

  • PQ?

  • Quebec.............

  • oh Quebec. I thought you were from Michigan.

  • I'm currently in MN

  • Let's just say this: I have the ability to play extremely tight, but I lack a little creativity sometimes.

Petar on the other hand, has more "tools" in his toolbox and he uses them wisely. By tools, I mean chops, or combinations of inventive fills. His symmetry is also much better than mine. I have yet to master the full use of my left hand. He is nonetheless almost as tight as me! Hehehe.

All jokes aside, I learn a lot by watching Petar and other great drummers like him play.

  • Really you guys are both great. I really do enjoy watching both of you. But I have to hand it to you, I just dont think Petar can do that little one hand roll thing in the Eye in THe Shy. HahhahaLOL. No really you guys are great. I just love to see how its done.

  • Thank you for being gracious! There is nothing missing on your side. The best part about this exchange is that we really don't judge better worse , but rather embrace the differences.

    cheers

  • tambourine and splashes.

  • man.. you are awesome!!!! great job. anything of keith urban????

  • Very nice, Petar. Great song/Band

Man, you are very good. Also, I love the different camera shots. So, did you know a lot about editing before making videos for youtube? Well done! All endings were very cool.

    5 stars!  :-)

  • 3rd.

  • Great cover, I have to agree with Alain as to the third ending, I liked it the best

  • Third

    is the best ending :D

  • Way to go, Petar! You've put some freshness into a vintage song. I personally prefer the third ending with the tambourine and splashes.

    5 stars!

  • Thanks man!

fyi there is no compression on the kit. The kick is sound is acheived by mic placement, dampening/or lack there of, and head tuning.

  • The audio compressor effect seems to be on the final overall sound. It is most evident in the volume "pumping" effect at the very start of the video. It sounds like a slow automatic level device or plug-in. When you start playing the drums, the level of the song in the background drops considerably. It might be the result of the audio re-encoding by YouTube also.

  • Now I get it what you are hearing, it must be the audio leveling that occurs in the media movie maker.

I typically record the music , video and drumming all at once then import into the computer from the camera.

  • Yeah, you're probably right. I knew it could be something like that. It doesn't matter too much anyway, because your excellent playing is more important.

  • Hey. You rock. That Froggpond guy....well... I dont know about him. LOL

  • heh Cool man, Great Cover. I loved the Crash Cymbal combinations at the organ solo.

  • Good eye Dig, I sometimes practice sticking order by never playing the same part the same way and seeing if I can change up in front of the camera and not get caught.
