The BBC has a strong bias towards Islam and will do all it can to excuse, or even ignore, the darker side of Islam. My point is that the BBC coverage should be more balanced, but on this subject, and many others too, they seem incapable of this. And for a media outlet funded by the British people themselves I find it unacceptable but sadly predictable.

If everyone studying the koran ends up practicing it differently, how does anyone actually know what true islam actually is? Why bother worshiping any religion based on a book? No one will ever know what the true meaning of the koran or islam is, because everyone has a different interpretation of the text. I can find a passage in the koran that says oppress women and one that says worship them, depends on how i interpret it. Different translations also corrupt a texts true meaning.

While I certainly agree with the callers about being attracted to Islam due to the social and moral teachings, I think the main core pull is the AUTHENTICITY and the concept of worshipping One God alone, the Only One that deserves to be worshipped. And the teachings regarding preparing for death and the afterlife which we can't escape. These are core questions about our existence no one can pass by, and so integral and 'risky'...we only get one chance at life, so we had better get it right.
