I just bought this on DVD and figured it would be the British version since I bought it over here. Its probably the same with Americans, everyone likes a bit of familiarity. Although - off topic - if I watch something American, I like it BECAUSE its American, with its cultural nuances. But, the good shows that come out of the UK don't seem to do well in USA, they usually insist on reshooting with an American cast. Maybe they don't get our humour or understand our regional accents...
@hammyzone Well yes the cultural differences between Us and the UK either make or break the shows that come out of either country. I will say though, although i am an American, my most favorite show is the UK version of Top Gear. They've started recording American versions here and i hate it. I love Jeremy, Richard, and James.
hehe, sorry dude. We abuse vowels as well. Her pronounciation of the word 'Concorde' is especially irritating though. I'm not the least bit anti-American, but I don't like American narration on factual programmes. Air Crash Investigation is a good example - I will trawl the net to find the British version of the episode first, even though the script and video is identical.
@hammyzone Yup i know dude, for some reason us americans like women narrating our stuff...lol And i know theres a male narrator version that aired over in the UK but this was the only version i could get my hands on.
The narrator to this DVD is awful. She sounds like some crappy text-to-speech voice robot. Its "Concorde" lady, not "Caaaancorde". Stupid Americans with their vowel abuse.
None of that can take away from Concorde's beauty. Other than her shitty voice over, this is a good DVD.
In fact over 27 years. Concorde brought in a revenue of around £1.75 billion with a service & operating cost of around £1 billion so if a profit of 3/4 of a billion £ over 27 years is costly then your screwed up.
@simplefact4u lol...silly person. The TU-144 first flew only 3 month before Concorde and was built on stolen and modified designs of concorde...It flew first but thats because the russians stole designs and sped up their production...Concorde was first plain and simple.
Another thing is that Concorde always made a profit on her flights. It was all the updated and refinements required after 9/11 that put the Concorde into a financial hole.
@simplefact4u Actually the russians copied the designs of concorde to a certain extent and hurried the building of their craft and screwed it up in the end. The TU-144 couldn't hold Mach 2 without afterburner and it has a much shorter range.
And yes although if you had a Concorde engine and a say a 747 engine, yes a concorde engine burns more fuel, but where as a 747 flight takes 8 hours, a concorde flight was 3. So it actually was quite fuel efficient in a Miles per gallon sense.
Wheres that guy standing at 6:02? Two concordes in one base! How wonderful for those two to stay with each other. This is a very nice video but very sad too.
i watched this on one of the discovery channels on the 25 July 2010, it was in memory of the paris crash in 20001. ps Concorde is the BEST plane EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Concorde, killed by economics. If BA & Air France hadn't retired them back then, they'd retire it after the financial meltdown last year. Either way, Concorde is doomed from the start
Indeed you are a true gentlemen!! I dont care of your race, creed or colour. If I came accros in my earlier message as Rasict, I Promise that I'm not, I just cant stand people taking credit for things that others have done, The video is a god send. I, like all who watch this, Thank You for you effort to obtain, and upload it!
May whom ever you beleive in religiously, bless you and reward you for cherishing such a beautiful aircraft! (FI,FIE,CAA PPL Cert)
She's trying to be poetic and philosophic--just like when Neil Armstrong said "...one giant leap for mankind". It's a common figure of speech and it doesn't imply that Concorde wasn't a British or French achievement. Surely you understand the philosophic usage of the nouns "mankind", "man" or "human being"? If not, then you, my dear bloke, are the looser.
9:39 absolute lad placing all the blame on the french ;)

The last ever flight was from Toulouse France to Filton Airport in Bristol UK where it was born and took its first flight from.
I think they mean that this is the last commercial flight!
