been there, went in because I didn't have my DL and proof of Ins with me. sat in there for 36 hours before I could see the judge and have my husband bring my license and ins. card. Everything was dismissed. we live in a police state. I've never been arrested and had no warrants or anything and the cop was just a dick and took me to city jail anyway. It is nice to see the sun again isnt it.. and not have to eat those mystery meat sandwiches.

Well, he didn't pay the ticket for walking in the park after it was closed, they send you a bunch of letters and you know if there's a warrant out for your arrest. I agree that it's stupid to write tickets for that, but he could have contested it for one reason or another. Getting arrested the way he did does sound really stupid, but it seems pretty apparent that this dude made no effort to work the system.

You are the fourth person I've heard of this week who got arrested for riding their bike on the sidewalk. You would think that NYPD would have plenty more to do than look out for cyclists riding their bikes on sidewalks.

Wiriness, I agree that it's better for pedestrians to not ride on the side walk, but you have to understand, I only do this when I'm out in the east williamsburg industrial park or bushwick area where there are no pedestrians, just huge trucks in the streets trying to run you over. I would never do this on a busy sidewalk in manhattan. It just wouldn't make sense. In this case common sense is a better keeper of the peace then the police.
