Nice vid. I wouldn't have included so many of the older fights, though. They weren't really KO's, just brutal because fights were often mismatches and referees didn't know the long term dangers of letting someone take a horrific beating.
@Orizulu9915@Orizulu9915 that would be his gumshield but believe it or not if im not mistaken the one at :40 is one where all the guys teeth where smashed up
Rocky Marciano knocking out Jersey Joe Walcott with one punch for the championship is regarded as one of the most brutal KO`s in history not even listed......Even Jack Dempsey listed one here said he could never punch as hard as Marciano....This list is total pants
Frazier was stopped on his feet and every knockdown shown from the Johnson-Willard fight was from the first round. Willard got stopped in the third. Explanation anyone?
Joe Louis' tko over Schmeling doesnt belong in the top fifty!! Marciano obliterating Louis maybe and to the mongoloid below me @HATEswag, suck a dick, straight up.
Fuck, that man had a crazy left hook. Still does, probably getting on the older side now, although he still fights here and there. Would have loved to have seen him take the belt off Lennox Lewis...
@FinleyNZyeeyah Foreman won the title off Moorer in the late 90s...and how old was Foreman...40 or something?...You might lose speed as you get older, but you don't lose power if you keep lifting weights. Tua could come back tomorrow and still demolish opponents much younger than him.
i wana hear the sound of leather on skin, the commentators frenzied calls, the screaming fans. NOT some random music from and episode of shaft!!!!!!!!!!
@superhurther I know very well how boxing worked in the 20's, my comment (I thought) was pretty simple, those clips almost look like cage fighting scenes, not boxing matches, all because of the ref. How can you compare apples with apples when some bouts clearly had a blind or retared ref?? Just my view.
@StubbornMook Which of his fights do you suggest to be on the list? The Frazier fight is the only one that I think really could displace some of these.
@BruceinFalkirk The count over Graham was ridiculous. He fell like he was shot in the head by a high caliber rifle. The ref could have counted until wednesday if he wanted.
I was amazed how long the refs in those days let the fights continue when someone was taking a beating. Some of those guys could have been killed. Nowadays the refs stop the fights much quicker especially if one of the boxers is unable to defend himself.
The Julian Jackson KO needed to be in there - otherwise this would have been discredited. The refs were asleep in both the Cooney/Norton & Mercer/Morrison fights. They should have been been stopped at LEAST a couple of punches before they were. That's how fighters get badly hurt - with crap referees allowing it to go on too long.
The greatest ko punch in total power, even over foreman and cooney, was ruddock left uppercut /dokes.This Dokes was a 6'3" big heavyweight with an iron chin and he almost died from those uppercut smashes.Amazing how tyson walked thru those smashes for 18 rounds.
@fadethetrade He clocked Bonecrusher pretty good with them as well. I wouldn't say Mike "walked" through them. He was stopped in his tracks a few times, Razor just wasn't a versatile enough fighter to do anything else. No jab, not much of a right hand. Just that hybrid hook-uppercut.
@johntvette He was versattile enough to almost kill dokes and dokes tested holyfield.Holyfiled ducked an offer by ruddock in 1990.In fact,so did foremanTyson took him on.Tyson was still the best fighter in the world thru 92.WIth douglas,He had an off night after 40 good nights.Problem was the style of peekaboo done the way damato trained him, doesnt last more then 3 years.Too much conditioning required for too long.He stopped the correct training and defensive first posture
@johntvette Ferdie pacheco said after the stewart ko that tyson obviously was a bad tyson n tokyo.just the way he attacked was a fierceness that he ddint have vs douglas. Its all in the mind. fight fans get clouded with their reasoning when they say tyson was overrated and lost to three of the best fighters he fought but the problem was he wasnt at the same level on the nights he lost ,as he was from 86-88.His mental conditioning is what deteriorated. from 86-88 he was strong mentally
@johntvette Even though tyson wasnt at his high level anymore after 89,the way he took the ruddock smashes all night.based on those fights,he would have handled fat geoges shots also.
if u had the film for gatti-gamache, it should have been top ten. I saw that fight live on TV and its haunted me ever since lol...one of the only times i ever considered not being a boxing fan.
the top three look more like pub brawls than actual boxing matches. refs are just enjoying the show without a care about the well-being of the fighters
I think Muhammad Ali deserves a spot in this too. His fight with Bryan London was unique: 11 punches and all connected to his head in 4 seconds. London stayed down to the count of 30.
@commonman80, what I meant was, the only reason the top three knockout were judged the most brutal was the fact the referee let the bouts continue way after the knockout had occured. The boxers that ended up on the ground could not defend themselves. Very poor and dangerous decisions to let the winner keep beating them up! Im my opinion!
@kenc12 Yeah, Joe was a great fighter, but his style wasn't very good fighting someone like George. George Foreman had a lot of power, Ali was smart and let him tire himself out then beat him when he had no energy left. Joe's style was pretty much 'take punishment and move forward', but no one can just take Foreman's punches and move forward. lol. Too much power.
