@CyberMarketing17 No im sorry you have that wrong. The capture card is what sets the resolution not your monitor. Easycap resolution is:
NTSC: 720 x 480 @ 30fps
PAL: 720 x 576 @ 25fps
So its not HD but it is Standard definition. Dont forget this is a cheap way of doing it. You can get easycap for like £6. Pay more money and you will get better quality and resolutions. So just to clarify, you will be able to record footage at 720 x 480(NTSC), 720 x 576(PAL). Thanks.

@12dart12 idk why but it didnt work. i followed everything you said. you know in the video when it's 3:58, in the videostudio, for mine, the option for the source is "USB2.0 Grabber", while yours is something syntek STK 1150? I tried that USB2.0 Grabber option, but it didnt work. Probably it's the problem with the software that I got in the CD. I think my CD is a fake. I downloaded Ulead VideoStudio 11. @vraeleragon92 Well the fact that its a different name, means that it has a different driver. I lost my driver disk and when i came to reinstall on my new computer i was stuck. So i used the DC60 driver which works great. Look around for new drivers.
@12dart12 yea i looked around for new driver and tried them. i found stk1150 and 160 too. i restarted so many times to make sure it's not because of reboot stuff, but still it doesn't work. do you think i should get a newCAP? I'm using windows 7 64bit. Everytime ulead looks for source, it keeps coming back to my integrated webcam.
Great video... if I do not want the extra speakers can I plug the consoles (XBOX 360) RCA cable directly into the capture card and still record the video with sound?
@Everything1u1need Yes you can. Also there is an option in the video and sound settings to "preview USB sound". Tick that and you should get sound through your PC speakers too as well as being able to record sound and video.
@SuperPowergaming I think so ye, but wats the point in recording it with fraps, when the whole point of a video grabber is to record the image directly :P But ye i suppose you could.
@ConfusedRobotStudios Quality isn't amazing because the grabber res isn't amazing. There will be slight lag yes but when i used it the lag didn't effect my gameplay at all.

@tomatojesus make sure the drivers are installed correctly, make sure there compatible with your OS. Check for updates on the software. If all fails maybe look online for another piece of software? Or new drivers?

@tomatojesus Glad you got it working, and yes ive said this a million times. This methord works best if you use NTSC. You cant use NTSC on PAL because it will be in black in white. And PAL wont work unless you set your consol to output in PAL 50 since easycap only supports PAL 50 not PAL 60. Which means the games you play will be limited since the game must be able to run in PAL 50. Only game i know is GTA 4. Please read other comments and the information i give!
I found another great solution that you don't even need to have a PC connection. It's called Avermedia Game Capture HD that everyone is starting to talking about it and be searched on google or youtube. It's plug and play and best of all, you don't need to connect to the PC. Concept is simple as operating a VCR and compact. All you need is the Avermedia box, USB hard drive and all footage are recorded at site without a pc. Some reviews says it’s in Amazon and Newegg already.
@XDLupus Im not sure. If ubuntu supports the drivers or you can find drivers online for easycap which are ubuntu combatible, and you can find the software that will run on ubuntu or use Wine to run the software used in the video then yes. Google is your friend.

@ginger6789 Well obiously there will be lag due to the capture card having to capture the signal then show it in the software. But its not very noticeable. Didn't effect my game playing in any way.

@LebronandWallace Well the thing is you need the splitters and stuff for external speakers because the sound doesn't get previewed on the software like the video does. But apparently there is a option in the software which enables you to play the sound from the input through your computer. But im not sure on that since i dont have the software anymore. Sorry :(
Why my easycap does not show as syntek, it shows as USB catcher 2.0(or st like that) And the quality sucks, too. I use it for my wii, and it makes the graphics even worse. So is this because of my easycap or becasue it's the best it can do?
I don't get audio or video with EasyCap, I have this cable with S-video and the left and right (red and white) audio rca:s. So i plugged them into the EasyCap, but it won't work. The important thing for me is to get the video working, since i got speakers where i can put those red and white rcas. Do I need another cable?

Dude you don't need any of that stuff except a DVD Recorder and all you do is hook your Cords up to the back and play the game and there should be a Record button on it to where you can Record and upload it on youtube just by a CD....

You cant just use your laptop screen as a gaming monitor then run fraps to record the screen because fraps records what the graphics card in your computer outputs, not the screen. So it wouldn't work. Yep for HD videos on a consol gona need a HDPVR or something similar. Thats why i dont consol game anymore. Consols are cheap, week and have millions of kids which play on them and scream down the microphone in 20000hz. PC gaming is the way forward!
Your playing GTAIV on your laptop using a capture card, and having the capture card play thorugh your laptop? Do you get real time controls when you do this?
@iTzKatana Pretty much real time yes. Of course theres going to be a sloght delay due to the capture card but the delay cant be noticed. The program is Unlead video studio editor.
easycap does play sound and u dont need any of these splitters or anything.. the sound goes to my laptop and then to my headphones....there is like 1 milisecond sound delay but the video is live and i play cod every day on my laptop. take a look at my video...it has perfect sound.

@malbloto2 depends, im not sure because monitors have different refresh rates, mine has 50hz and 60hz, best way to find out is to go into your control panel and look at your display settings, it usually has a drop down menu with all the refresh rates available.

And you say a terrabite hdd but that doesn't mean its good. Depends on the speed, transfer rate, read and write times. @netdude1984 Hey. Well this methord will work allot better for you since you live in the US and use NTSC. Right well to the question. Your RAM and Graphics seem fine to me, but it is processing power which is most important. The laptop i used in the video has:
-AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 @ 1.9GHz (which is a dual core)
-3GB Ram
-Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
-120GB Hdd
-Intergrated Graphics
I run without any noticeable lag (just). I'm not sure if that little single........
@netdude1984 ........ Core would be able to cope. It should but since i have never tried im not really sure. Perhaps look around to see if anyone has done this on a single core or just try it out yourself and hope for the best. Oh and one last tip, if money isn't a problem buy a Dazzle Platinum. Allot better quality and has the ability for PAL 50 & 60 but that's not really a concern to you. Let me know how you get on. And thanks :) i do try my best to answer all my questions. :P

This worked great for me. I picked up the EasyCAP off Amazon for about $9, and only needed the 2 channel RCA/ 1/8" stereo coupler, which was about $3. Max resolution isn't great, but keeps a smooth frame rate (I'm running an 1.8GHz Centrino with 1GB RAM). Worth it while I save to buy a new TV. Good post.

@karlisurman make sure you have installed the correct drivers. Try unplugging the webcam or disabling the webcam drivers. Other then that I'm not sure. Sorry.

@TurnoverAbid no offense but if you actually read otehr comments you would find your answer because i have answered this so many times and this is the last time i answer this question. it will only work with a HDMI cable if your laptop has a HDMI input. But most laptops with a HDMI port are outputs for pluging there monitor up to a HDTV or something. if you laptop did have a HDMI input then in most cases it would have 2 HDMI ports. 1 input and 1 output. if it only has 1 then i recon its a output

So it wouldn't work. Yep for HD videos on a consol gona need a HDPVR or something similar. Thats why i dont consol game anymore. Consols are cheap, week and have millions of kids which play on them and scream down the microphone in 20000hz. PC gaming is the way forward!

@iTzKatana Pretty much real time yes. Of course theres going to be a sloght delay due to the capture card but the delay cant be noticed. The program is Unlead video studio editor.

easycap does play sound and u dont need any of these splitters or anything.. the sound goes to my laptop and then to my headphones....there is like 1 milisecond sound delay but the video is live and i play cod every day on my laptop. take a look at my video...it has perfect sound.

@malbloto2 depends, im not sure because monitors have different refresh rates, mine has 50hz and 60hz, best way to find out is to go into your control panel and look at your display settings, it usually has a drop down menu with all the refresh rates available.

And you say a terrabite hdd but that doesn't mean its good. Depends on the speed, transfer rate, read and write times. I have 2x 500gb sata3 6gb/s 8.4ms hdds, in a raid configuration and i bet it would piss all over urs :)

@netdude1984 Hey. Well this methord will work allot better for you since you live in the US and use NTSC. Right well to the question. Your RAM and Graphics seem fine to me, but it is processing power which is most important. The laptop i used in the video has:
-AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 @ 1.9GHz (which is a dual core)
-3GB Ram
-Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
-120GB Hdd
-Intergrated Graphics
I run without any noticeable lag (just). I'm not sure if that little single........

@netdude1984 ........ Core would be able to cope. It should but since i have never tried im not really sure. Perhaps look around to see if anyone has done this on a single core or just try it out yourself and hope for the best. Oh and one last tip, if money isn't a problem buy a Dazzle Platinum. Allot better quality and has the ability for PAL 50 & 60 but that's not really a concern to you. Let me know how you get on. And thanks :) i do try my best to answer all my questions. :P

This worked great for me. I picked up the EasyCAP off Amazon for about $9, and only needed the 2 channel RCA/ 1/8" stereo coupler, which was about $3. Max resolution isn't great, but keeps a smooth frame rate (I'm running an 1.8GHz Centrino with 1GB RAM). Worth it while I save to buy a new TV. Good post.

@karlisurman make sure you have installed the correct drivers. Try unplugging the webcam or disabling the webcam drivers. Other then that I'm not sure. Sorry.

@TurnoverAbid no offense but if you actually read otehr comments you would find your answer because i have answered this so many times and this is the last time i answer this question. it will only work with a HDMI cable if your laptop has a HDMI input. But most laptops with a HDMI port are outputs for pluging there monitor up to a HDTV or something. if you laptop did have a HDMI input then in most cases it would have 2 HDMI ports. 1 input and 1 output. if it only has 1 then i recon its a output
