They have another product called the Makerbot Replicator, it uses 2 kinds of plastic, so you can have 2 color objects, it also prints much larger pieces than this unit. See their webpage...
Zcorp.com has develop a better 3d printers than this one. It seems that the best one they got is a 750 pound monster that scans details in an object smaller than the thick of a human hair at about 20 cents per cubic cm
Check the video in which their printers scans and prints a full size operable wrench here on you tube
The resolution on these things still suck. All the parts made have obvious steps in them. Wake me up when I can print something small and finely detailed like a D&D character that doesn't come out looking like crap.
LOL China well go out of business if this invention is in every home in western Countries ... well looks like Wal-Mart better RollBack them prices.....
If you want a better machine at 1/3 of the price visit sumpod.com . It has a larger build capacity and it looks way better and it has lithophane and pcb milling. Makerbot is way over-priced and it's not the first home printer! The reprap was.
@MikeFromTheUK1 You are referring to "will it blend" this is VERY funny. When I was reading your comment I was thinking this is from "will it blend" and I was rolling on the floor laughing. You are the first one to have this kind of association. So ingenious.
@MrJonnyKilljoy Its been done. You can find all the wood and acrylic parts on Thingaverse. The original was only a 10 x 10 x 10 build platform the thing o matic is 12x12x12. The full build has overlapping plates that needed to be glued together....Believe there are videos of it up someplace on youtube or instructables.
