  • smokey mountain knife works has it for 25 bucks!

  • Yeah I had this knife for about 2 hours. Decided to split some wood and the the handle completely sheared off!

  • i got the dagger version of this knife (yes the fixation comes in both bowie and dagger) and its pretty good, got mine for 35 and its a great economy blade

  • its only 30 online at Walmart

  • nutnfancy PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a review on the SOG SALUTE

  • looks cool

  • The atomic symbol looks cool.

  • SEXY blade right there.

  • aus-8 has a HRC around 57-58 while 8Cr13MoV has HRC 52-54

  • how so u do a review on something that you got a few hours ago?

  • pocket in sheath is good for fire starter

  • I got 1...great knife!

  • Comment removed

  • This knife is made in china(judging by the pictures on SOG website). That is why im not going to buy it.I would rather spend more $ and support US economy and US manufacturers.Thumbs up if you support USA and are buying US products.

  • @aldegin You are truly an idiot.

Steel manufactured in America does not meen it is better. Maybe if you actually knew something about metalurgy you'd know it depends on the steel quailty and carbon density. Unfortunately you just talk out of your ass.

  • are these sharp?

    thanks

  • I love SOG knives

  • where can i find it?

  • @jmason105 Google

  • Can someone please help me out.. Even though sog have a .co.uk website when I try and order they say that they can only ship to the US or Canada . I really want a SOG knife, especially when I saw you can have them engraved as well on their website. Does anyone know where they are available to buy with shipping to the UK? Great reviews btw, I love knives but its one of many hobbies of mine. I always check out your revieews tho they are fantastic, keep them up! much love from the UK!

  • Better to buy Ka-Bar USMC .

  • @jarabco Some like quality, some just want a cheap knife. While way better than average, Ka-Bar is four times as expensive as this.

  • @jarabco Remember, The Ka-Bar are made in USA. This means that the steel is high quality that the china steel. The SOG Fusion Fixation Bowie Knife is made in CHINA.

  • @aldegin too bad the steel blades on Ka-bars are made in Taiwan

  • @ShaggyOtis What leads you to believe that? They are made in USA. I went to the plant,

  • @Vanguard41xx this one is made in china

  • @urungutang The SOG is made in China, but the guys said Kabar's were made in Taiwan.

  • @Vanguard41xx before buying any product, verify with the manufacturer where its made. You can choose the model of the knife you like and call them to verify if its made in US.Id rather be paying a little more and getting a better product, while supporting our economy.

  • i was hoping you did a video for this knife.

    thanks man

  • @hikinguphigh don't buy it!!

  • Don't buy this knife!! When I was chopping the blade snapped off

  • @SuperCraptacular knives aren't meant to be choppers/or be batoned genius, get a fold-able hand saw

  • Seeming that it's the same shape and lenght of a kabar, would it fit a kabar

    kydex sheath?

  • In norway it's 100$ -_______-

  • does this knife still hack decentley

    kind regards

  • @hikinguphigh Not the best, not the worst.

  • does anyone know of a knife like this same kind price point but heavier as i want something that has a decent swing to it or does this knife have a decent swink to it

    nice vid nutn

    kind regards

  • Luv it Nutn!

  • Took this camping with me yesterday. Was batoning wood for the fire pit. After maybe 20 minutes of cutting wood I heard loud ping and the knife blade went flying through the air past my face. It broke off right at the handle. I'm going to take pictures of it and send it to SOG. My buddy is borrowing it from me to show on his youtube channel.

  • @967evil do you think it may have just been 1 bad knife or something please let me now what you think as i would like to buy this knife if you dont like them dyo no of any simmilar blades same price point

    kind regards

  • normally i wouldnt buy knives made in china, but if Nutnfancy says its good, then im going for it

  • im not very fond of blades but in my opinion this is a nice blade

  • really nice blade

  • hey Nutn, your friend from VA here. i bought this knife about 2 months ago and just did some easy testing. I made a vid of and 2 minutes into the video the spanner nut stripped out and the handle slipped off. total faliure. I know this video is old but thought you'd like to know. take care.

  • @tunzufun11 --- YOW!!!!!! I can see why you are pretty much speechless, after the butt attachment falling apart during your video review. Is there any type of warranty from SOG with that knife? (Of course...technically, does chopping wood count as an "out of warranty" use? I wonder.) I've kinda stopped watching a lot of the "Gee Whiz" reviews on 'tube these days, so your video is a valuable contribution.

  • @tunzufun11 there was another vid of the knife and the tang snapped in half at the handle

  • Comment removed

  • as whitethronebooks said it can eventualy snap at the tang, learned htat first hand.

  • Man this is an awesome knife, Mine came razor sharp out of the box with a super deep backcut at 1.8 mm at the belly and tapering off to 1.2mm at the hilt i did a hack test comparing the SOG to a Kabar 8" Tanto and a Glock 81 for what it is and how light it is it hacks real well to quote nutn "A Low Cost High Value Blade" oh btw Go Nutn You are the man, keep up the fantastic work a "No Cost Super High Value U-Tuber"

  • @SavageShooter93 The tang is welded onto the blade. Use it hard and it will eventually snap at the tang. Many people have reported failure at that point.

  • @whitethronebooks After my handle developed a tiny wiggle i took the knife apart and it is a Full Tang blade the Blade and handle are ONE piece of steel the Hilt/Crossgaurd is tack welded into place with 4 "tacks" the spanner nut at the bottom had loosened so i apllied blue loctite and wrenched it down tight and hacked through a 4x4 of cedar and the handle doesnt wiggle anymore, I saw that broken tang video and that was strange but that was a full failure not at the hilt i think it was a fluke

  • by bad guys.. you mean those who oppose the forces of evil. Yes I agree, we must hammer bad guys. :)

  • I bought a salute, I think SOG did a nice job on the line.

  • Don't make fun of Rosie shes beatuiful... at heart

  • I got the fusion bowie a 2 weeks ago and the first day i hacked through 6 2x4's and the blade is still just as sharp as when i got it go 8cr13mov but one thing i just noticed yesterday was a slight wiggle in the handle at the hilt its not a big deal just a little click back and forth its just the handle, i did a side by side by side review check it out i i didnt mention the wiggle because i didnt see it, but the blade is super sharp great blade

  • I put a victorinox in the pocket usually , have a fusion jungle primitive. Nice review :p might get this on to.

  • So why the fuck would you buy that unless you wanted to stab the shit out of someone?

  • @Dandramere Your acting like a child most people have enough sense to be mature and not go around assuming a knife is a weapon,it is a tool you have alot of growing up to do

  • I just got one and the sheath sucks, the keeper has changed to a velcro instead of a snap button and I think they shorted the belt loop a little but very noticeable. The knife itself is still great. But they should not have changed some parts of the sheath.

  • Another excellent knife review performed in your usual professional manner, keep up the excellent work nutn we enjoy all your videos.

  • i just checked sogs website and they've changed the handle material to krayton. Right on sog!

  • walmart sells sogs on their webbsite now

  • . . . jizz

  • which is better this knife or the buck 119 special

  • I've now had this knife for a week and took it out in the backyard for a little test drive. I split two logs of wood and have two observations to report. First, the black finish on the blade wears off quite quickly, which actually doesn't bother me as it makes the knife look like it's been used, which is cool. A more serious issue though, is that the handle is now very loose, so there is a lot of play between the knife and handle. In short, I wouldn't trust this knife in the backcountry.

  • If you want a grippier handle try putting a road bike inner tube on it. I find that the road bike tubes are tighter love the vids

  • Hey, Where can i buy this knife ? I realy want it. Im not sure if you tell it in your video because im not realy good in english so i dont understand everything that you say but, Can you send me a Link to a Website please ?

  • how does this blade hold up when batoning or with any use because ive seen and heard some of the fusion bowies tangs break and im trying to choose between this knife and the buck 119 special

  • DO NOT BATON with this knife. The tang is very narrow.

  • Just ordered one. I can't believe how inexpensive it is.

  • Very, very nice. Great vid, thanks for illuminating this knife!

  • i've seen a SOG Fusion Fixation dagger.the guard was totally loose.dont trust the quality of these knives

  • i definitely trust this company get the seal pup or seal pup elite or the jungle primitive etc they have a lot of amazing knives

  • SOG has got good products but not all of them are good .the SOG Seal Team is a nice blade in my opinion.but Ka-Bar is the best for combat

  • i hear u on that one i love my sog knives but i will always love my ka-bar

  • right on !!keep the faith

  • this FusionBowie looks good.maybe that loose guard of the Fusion Dagger i saw was just 1 faulty knife.dont know the quality of these knives

  • ya thats ur best bet i have there seal pup and i love it in cold weather it does amazing the handles a little small for chopping but i put a lanyard on it and that solved that

  • plus that it's easy to carry around.that is what i like about the Ka-Bar's also.light weight

  • ka-bar's prices are really good most of the time too

  • exactly.and that's not a minor thing.

  • true not to mention its the most used a prefered knife in the us military

  • they are?i know they used to be issued.but if they are, they are with good reason.light weight and does what is needed ,low price.that all combined makes it a winner.

  • ooh-rah

  • Gung Ho ! :-)

  • ka-bars are a better knife too

  • woot had it for $25 total

  • you can pull the knife out of the sheath even with the strap buttoned over the handle. Do you have any suggestions to replace the sheath?

  • would it open crates?

  • how about a usmc kabar?

  • ka-bar all the way ooh-rah

  • i work in a shiping yard . i open crates all the time and crowbars are a bitch. would this knife work in this role?

  • @zaza462 i know alot about steel, and i dont see it happnin. AUS-8 is shit, so i just dont see it. you want a thick carbon steel blade for that kind of detail.

SOG isnt exactly what i'd call a "hard use" knife anyway, unless youre talking about the SEAL elite series which are all a quarter inch thick.

  • @daddad77 but the tips of the seal elites are needle thin

  • no. these knives break pretty easy. im not nutnfancy, whatever

  • If your still looking for a knife to open crates, I think the cold steel recon scout would be ideal for you. daddad77 was right when he said thick, carbon blades for that task.

  • After mine broke I figured that I wouldn't deal with any waranty. I mean I am very dissapointed with it, but for 25 buck it's not worth dealing with when in all probability it will break again. Ended up welding on a new handle from some 1/8" steel I have around.

I learned that I realy would get better use out of a recon scout(discontinued!) or simular survival knife. May get a rec. Scout, trailmaster, Kabar Large heavy bowe etc.

  • @stangstangsstang the same thing happened to me with an Ontario RTAK2 and i got the return on it, as promised, and took that bitch straight to my local gun shop and traded it for a RAT Cutlery RC-4 which i couldnt be happier with. you just gotta know how to work those warranty deals.

  • this knife just at glance seems ten times better than any knife in its category such as a search and rescue by s and w. obviously more features the only down fall is the sheath....

  • Everything that nutnfancy says about this blade is true, but I will have to disagree about the grip. The hilt gets right in the way of where I'd like to rest my thumb, so I would like to see a nicer place to keep my thumb, somewhere in between the the handle and the thumb ramp. Also, I can see why the top knives out there give your index some room to choke up past the hilt-- def makes for a more comfortable position option.

P.S. Blade for sure needs sharpening out of box.

  • yea i could see that i like the grips on the newest seal pup by sog

  • this knife broke on me while batoning

  • Dude, I got that knife a week ago and I took it camping and the blade BROKE OFF and made that weekend suck

  • BROKE!

I boght this knife along with a Byrd Cara Cara SS a couple weeks ago to see what I could get for little money. They both seemed very impresive. I love the cara cara!

So I tried out the SOG next to my KaBar to see how they compare. I did a small amount of chopping on a piece of seasoned fir that we burn for heat. They were about the same. I was impressed! Then is swong the SOG a few more times and the blade broke off! Broke at the grip where the hand gaurd is.

  • I always felt that ka-bars handles were way to thick, so the thinner profile might be comfy. Plus you could always wrap it in 550 if thats what your into...

  • I NEED THAT KNIFE

  • Nice design but the steel is shit unless it's just for EDC purposes. You get what you pay for.

  • is it good for wilderness use????

  • watch the fucking video

  • hahahahah i know everytime a watch one of his videos there is always someone that askes a question b4 they finished the video hahhahaa

  • this blade is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • yea gates is right, this is possibly (the way you use this knife) a skinning knife, combat, and limited survival capabilities, this knife is not good for batoning, through my experiences with the SOG fusion.

  • wow nice knife for just $27

  • @KnifesRfun93 It's $55 now...

  • @TheKingOfPwning

    Check eBay...

  • did you say TWENTY SEVEN DOLLARS?? Wow thats a greattt deal. Did you get yours off ebay? I checked the sog site and they go for 50.

  • Manufacturers always charge the MSRP of their knives so they dont compete with the distributers and retailers.

You will find better prices by going to a store or online store.

Every knife company will charge a ton more on their site, dont ever buy a knife from the maker, they rip you off, intentionally so that people buy them from the retailers.

  • go to amazon $28 just bought it

  • there is an old saying that i learned to live by along time ago,you get waht you pay for!

  • Not so. To an extent, the quality of your knives will go up with price, but there are alot of very high quality knives at lower prices. If it was that simple, these reviews would be pointless.

  • is it officially pronounced sAHg or ess-OH-gee?

  • I bought this knife several months ago. Love the look, feel, balance, and weight, but....

I hate the sheath, and there aren't any kydex ones I could find to fit it (won't fit ka-bar sheaths), and the construction isn't super strong, as mentioned below.

Not a bad kitchen knife, I've found.

  • Flybirdgo is right on the money.

I would not recommend this knife to anyone looking for a "survival" knife.

I bought one and was very happy with it until I got out in the woods. While starting to make a fire I grabbed a small piece of wood and started to baton, one, two, three hits. After the fourth hit the handle was in my hand and the blade was still in the wood! The blade snapped off right above the handle.

This is the second and last time I'll be burned on an "affordable" Chinese knife.

  • just got this knife today and its awesome

  • Oh man that is a NICE knife! It really looks like it could rival the KA-BAR! And for $27??? Thats amazing. You really should go out in the woods and compare that and your green KA-BAR. Another one of your VS videos!

  • nothing under 40 compares to a kabar

  • is this blade full tang or does it have that rat tail welded tang?

  • Buy china products, put more Americans out of work until we are a third world impoverished nations.650,000 americans are becoming unemployed each month, the largest bast in Florida failed friday, wake up ,we are going into a 3 year slide into a great depression. The federal reserve is buying its own treasury notes because it cant sell them to other nations.look around, see for yourself.

  • 5% unemployment, but that doesn't include the 10% in poverty because they can only get part time jobs.

When the U.S. went to war in the past, we where able to produce enough goods to win wars in the past, but what happens when the enemy has controll of our manufacturing?

  • That would be bad for them because we would just have to nukem,LOL

  • maybe some of us are sick of American companies hocking cheap crap at us with a massive mark up. the free market will do its thing and in the end we'll be left with high quality goods at an affordable price.

  • well said. my thoughts exactly.

  • Thanks again Nutnfancy for another great review. I got this knife after seeing you review it. I think it is an excellent knife...especially for the money. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!

  • Yep, I like it, gonna keep my eye out for one and then snatch it up! Reasonably priced and looks to be good quality from watching this vid!

  • What about putting your Leatherman in that pouch on the outside of the sheath?

  • Nice looking...

  • i just got 1 and boy i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice knife.. in canada its a little bit more tho.. around $50 or so..

thanx for the review i was waiting for 1 of these.. its definatly getting added to my combat collection..

have you looked at the ontario sp-1?

if you get ahold of one of these id love to see a review on that as well..

  • "....it will attract cash-strapped knife addicts like Rosie ODonnel to free donuts." - in the description lol

  • hey there so i have been into knives for quite some time now and i love your videos. I have always seen those "survival knives" with the hollow handles with the compass and what have you, and all the ones i have seen seem very poorly made along with the fact that they dont have a full tang. i was curious if you have done a review on any of them or know of any that ARE good quality.

  • it the jungle primitive worth buying?

  • no its thin and cheap dont waste ur money buy something better

  • thanks,i couldn't find on to look at in person and that makes it difficult to know the real quality.

  • the whole fusion range is a little cheap but most sog knives are great ive got 2 seal pups

  • i have never owned a sog fixed blade but it is always nice to hear from someone that has knowledge from actual use.THANKS!!

  • better ? like what ?

  • like other high end sogs like the sog bowie sog seal sog seal team or gov tac

  • I bought one of theses today at a store, costed $40!, even though that's alittle more then you say I still think its a great deal compared to what it would cost through ebay with shipping and handling and such. While at the store I asked the sales clerk about it and of course he knew nothing so he got the box out and for some reason even on the knife's box it doesn't say anything useful? Lucky for me I looked at acouple sites including sog's own site where it was for $50. Happy I bought it. :)

  • I just ordered this, however I am Canadian so the price is not as advertised but you seemed pretty convincing and aren't an amateur obviously. Thanks for your reviews, I watch pretty much all of them and keep doing what you're doing!

I'll report back and yes, this is basically my first 'real' knife.

  • Comment removed

  • After passing my All Arms Commando course I want to treat myself to an investment and i feel that you have just helped me make my mind up, keep the quality vids coming

  • hey nutn, did you field test that knife yet?

  • i like these but my ka bar black tanto is scary looking.....

  • That is a sick looking knife, I think the Tech Bowie looks better, but it also costs like 4 times more.

I love that knife, would love to spend $25 on that fine piece!

  • id like to see a review of an SOG "seal"series knife

    sog is a nice brand

  • Me too. Those SOG SEAL knives look insanely good. Especially the SOG SEAL Elite. Gigantic 7 inch blade, they don't rust, and the steel is extremely high quality.

  • o ya is it stainless steel or can it rust.

  • Comment removed

  • theres a new sog fusion dagger style knife

  • nice knife where did you get. it loook amazing!!!!!!

  • according to the sog website, that handle is kraton and isnt this just a kabar ripoff? albeit cheaper.

  • 25$?? sick dude im getting one

  • the tang looks small, are you able to start a fire on the back of the blade without slitting your webbing? aside from that is it high carbon? i like higher carbon knives because you can easily start fires with them....

  • Hey Nutn, you think this will fit in a Kabar kydex sheath?

  • WHERE DID YOU GET 25 DOLLARS...? i SAW IN "BLADE" MAG FOR 50...

  • Can you post a video on sharpening?

  • i rather get shot than being stabbed

  • Id rather be attacked with a knife than a gun, if someone attacks you with a knife they have to get close, if theyre close it increases your chances of disarming them and escaping, someone with a gun could shoot you long before you escape.

You cant outrun a bullet, you could outrun someone with a knife.

  • he just said he would rather get shot not get in a fight with someone that has a gun
