I live in Chicago and am very familiar with Karyn's.. I have been to her restaurants several times, both raw and cooked, heard her speak a few times and every time I'm in the deli or restaurant and I run into her i'm always starstruck!! She is such an inspiration to me. I admire her realness, drive.. she's very beautiful and so well spoken. It's so true that people into raw/health foods can be so focused and life is so short and we should be able to juggle more than just what we eat.

This video made me homesick. Karyns is the Best restaurant in Chicago. Its also the main reason I was able to stay raw for so long in Chicago's cold climate. I have to say she always made my small children feel welcome at her place. She has a sitting area with toys for the young ones and they have raw icecream. This type of forethought she put into the place made my 4yr old daughter say "Mommy can we go to Karyns today?" instead of asking for McDonalds. She has good energy.

Personally, I don't care that she's 62, or how she looks... I find it way more inspiring that she went through so much crap in her life, and STILL managed to pull through and get to where she is today.

She looks great but she maybe had some plastic surgery or something. I know many people who are raw for years but still dont look so great so it seems a lil bit suspicious. Anyway live happily and healthy as long as you can hehe and love yourself and everbody

Hmmm, I don't know Kitarist88.. some people just have good genes too, especially people with ethnic backgrounds. I saw her on another raw DVD that had a much clearer picture and her skin looks beautiful, but she does have a few wrinkles here and there (which I, in no way, think is a bad thing). She looks very natural and has a beautiful glow. I hope I look that good when I'm older

She did get a boob job when she was very young, but since then she hasn't had any plastic surgery. At least that's what she say. And she seems like an honest person.

I agree with what others have said, Karyn is so wise! Thank goodness she stuck to what she knew in her heart and her mind and didn't listen to all of the naysayers! =-)

I also love that she's well-rounded and takes a day off to spend time with her family. She seems like a great woman.
