When Lewis Black first started getting popular, he was a breath of fresh air during the beginnings of the Bush administration. After about 1-2 years though he just started clamoring on and lost all novelty (if he ever had any to begin with).
Leary's anger was like the rest of his act - not real, mostly plagiarized and only an act that served as a means to become famous. That may be the saddest part - there was nothing genuine about the guy, just a narcissistic need to be someone, no matter who he needed to shit on to get there.
But forget that well known fact, Norm's not trying to be anything he's not, he just so happens to be a genuinely funny guy and he's fuckin good at it.
@muddy2 So true. All these manufactured comics with anger or a disability or an ethnicity or some kind of sexual freak. McDonald is fucking funny. That's it.
Norm is a genius! I love how he perceives other comedians. I love when he said something about Whitney Cummings: "Nobody is funnier than Whitney Cummings, except for dudes"
Norm shows off just how smart he really is in this interview. He usually keeps his guard up by acting naive and innocent, but behind that facade is a truly great mind
@CoolerKing37 i was reading a few days ago that apparently Leary is really hated in the comedy industry because he either copies or does VERY similar routines to what Bill Hicks would do.
@Hughezy Bill Hicks? That is nothing since he can just claim they are similar bits. Louis CK has pretty much stated that the Asshole Song that Leary is famous for was stolen from him during an interview. Like, directly stolen. And as funny and under-appreciated as CK is I am inclined to believe him. To Leary's credit he did seem to try and make amends for it and it seems like something that started as a mistake and snowballed out of control, but still.
@Hughezy I know your comment was directed towards someone else, but Louis CK never actually went out and claimed that Dane Cook stole his jokes. If you saw the episode of Louie where he meets Dane Cook, they talk about how though Louis never outright said so, he never denied the claims that Dane stole his material.
@ssw000 see that guy McGrath, mark my words: that guys gonna kill himself by the end of next year. It's not normal for a guy to but himself down so much.
but yes, his Norm interviews are just pure brilliance. Have you seen my other Norm videos?
Cause it's *haha* a different version of that! (best part)

Fucking hilarious. Norm is the Mark Twain reincarnated.

@lowlypeasant you know the sad thing though? Norm won't be fully appricated until he's gone, just like with Patrice O'Neal

@BreakerOfBoxes i agree with you. i personally think Black just mistakes loudness for punchlines.

@muddy2 and the really irrating thing is that Leary's a pretty big star whereas Norm keep gettings the shaft.

@Cajaquarius as much as i like CK, is it not true that he tends to claim a lot of people steal from him even if it's only slightly similar?
