As a character in the Mother series, I like Lucas better than Ness. Lucas showed more character, showed more vulnerability, and went through a lot more shit to earn a happy ending. He went through a lot more trauma. You call Lucas a crybaby, I will personally slit your throat. He is a twelve year old boy who has seen more death, destruction, and tragedy than anyone his age should have to. And I hate how Brawl put him in there to make Ness look better in comparison.

Lucas's PK Fire is an instant KO in sudden death. Very useful if you are on a flat stage or on platforms straight across from you and the run straight at you. People get so mad at me when I do that on Wi-Fi. lol
btw, lucas's down B will switch sides if there is a long ranged attack by the opposite side. if he is facing a different direction, it doesnt really matter

Unfortunately for any Ness and/or Lucas mains there is a big problem. Ness and Lucas suffer 10 additional frames when ground grab releasing which means infinites by Marth (0-death on Ness), DK (cargo release and even cargo release dsmash) and Charizard (0-death on Ness). Wario can fsmash when Ness/Lucas grab release.
Between Ness and Lucas I prefer Lucas because Lucas has tether and very good recovery while Ness recovery sucks. Lucas has very long grab range and back throw is also powerful.
psi magnet damages when the opponent stands in it. since the knockback is just horizontal, it gets difficult to recover once the damage surpasses a certain point.
Lucas sticks out his hand when using PSI magnet, but if he can absorb any attack that comes from behind, he turns around automatically. the 'tradeoff' is that you can see which direction he is facing.
Lucas up smash, PK love as I believe it to be, is actually Brawl's second strongest up smash, the only stronger on is Ivysaur's. I actually tested this, Ivysaur can KO Bowser, the heaviest character in the game, at 38%, fully charged of course, while Lucas KO Bowser at 48%, so Ivysaur just barely wins.
I love playing as Lucas, but you need to realise something...

Lucas actually turns if he gets hit by a projectile, try playing with a friend, have Lucas face away from a character such as Fox and use Down+ B (PSI Magnet), then get Fox to shoot at him. He'll turn arround and absorb it, so its a neat trick!
Actually not to burst your bubble but there are. This is not necisarly a bad thing. Think about it like this. You kill a meta knight user with ness, lucas, any other low tier char and own him. It proves you have more skill than a high tier user.

I kind of think Lucas is cheap. Why? Well, I've practiced on and on with mostly Ness, and when I played as Lucas I was like "Oh my god, this guy's easy!"
they have powerful smashes, good final smashes and if u know how to control PK and their advantages they have in the air and on the ground, then victory is yours.

I can make a giant list of the good and bad things about Lucas and Ness. Lucas in my main, Ness is my second. Ive used them so much i honestly know so much about them, there probably isint anything else for me to learn about them.
Yes Ness' {Specials} are much stronger than Lucas', although Lucas' [Smashes] are much stronger than Ness'.
PSI Magnet protection appears to be just from one side, but actually if damage is in the opposite direction, Lucas automatically switches side, that make this move the same's Ness, but Lucas can damage with it too, Lucas is the best between both. : )
Actually PK Freeze may also aid to the opponent's recover, as it sends the opponent upwards.I use his back air instead to send opponents down or PK Thunder to send them far sideways, by pushing them in a zigzag pattern.

And it's PK Flash, not PK Pulse. There's no such move as PK Pulse in any MOTHER game (the game series Ness and Lucas are from), and if you check Ness' trophy description in Melee, it says his B move (which is the same as his B move in Brawl) is PK Flash.
And (lol) 1 more comment to my 2 others, PQ freeze is useful when a opponent is recovering, and i have KO'd many opponents by freezing them while recovering. I must give props to people who are great with ness. His PQ Pulse move is extremely hard to master, and hard to time his Smash attacks too.
Also, Lucas's Final Smash is weaker overall compared to Ness's. But when a few hit it can rack of to a bit damage. And on the weight of the characters, i'd say they both fly off stage pretty equal
And to add to my previous comment, I use Toon link as my 2nd character. More to the lucas part, Im not saying he's the best or the worst or better or worse than Ness. It depends on how you play. He is more of a long range character while Ness is more of a close quarter fighter. I also find Lucas's PQ Freeze move to be under rated. It does a decent amount of damage, while freezing them, usually giving a person the chance to use PQ Lightning on them or getting away to a safer spot.
I'd like to point out that Lucas and Ness are equally matched, if known how to play. I play as Lucas as my main, and i have experimented, while Lucas's PQ Thunder move isn't as fast as Ness's, if hit right it can do an instant hit then damage from the surrounding thunder. His PQ Fire isn't as powerful but i find it more of a "Get away move" While Ness's is made for combat. I like lucas overall because he is a quick character, and his Up and Down smash attacks are slightly stronger than Ness's
Ness is better than Lucas.Lucas may be faster but his attacks are weaker.
It is true you can depend on his up smash to devestate but it has a drawback && it is that if you miss, he stays still for about 1-2 seconds which gives you more then enough time to finish him. His PKFIRE technique is not as effective as Ness's PKFIRE because Ness can last longer && as PKFREEZE may be faster && quicker to use, PKCROSS or PKFLASH is stronger && can be used effectevely on falling opponents.
definitely one of the best characters of all smash games his smash moves are better than ness' his pk thunder has better control and his arieals simply own i always get the smash ball when i use him
not really, ness has much more obvious and easier to perform combos, ness has godly throws, ness has a beast meteor, ness has almost everything for him
lucas is more of a hit you hard with one hit while ness is both a combos on land but in the air one of the best anti air fighter in the game if used right.
I prefer Lucas over Ness. Lucas has a better combat moves and his PK freeze, PK thunder and PK fire are better. Also his voice isn't as annoying lol

With a little experimentation and practice, PSI Magnet in now a standard killing move for me. It's just that awesome.

lucas is my main and im almost invincible with him ;D hes a really good character if you know how to use him most ppl know him as nesses clone only because they dont kow him if you all have heard of earthbound its the presequel of where lucas is or as mother 3 but sadly it wasnt released in america so hardly anyone knows him.

I can make a giant list of the good and bad things about Lucas and Ness. Lucas in my main, Ness is my second. Ive used them so much i honestly know so much about them, there probably isint anything else for me to learn about them.
Yes Ness' {Specials} are much stronger than Lucas', although Lucas' [Smashes] are much stronger than Ness'.

PSI Magnet protection appears to be just from one side, but actually if damage is in the opposite direction, Lucas automatically switches side, that make this move the same's Ness, but Lucas can damage with it too, Lucas is the best between both. : )

Actually PK Freeze may also aid to the opponent's recover, as it sends the opponent upwards.I use his back air instead to send opponents down or PK Thunder to send them far sideways, by pushing them in a zigzag pattern.

I adore Ness, although I don't find Lucas appealing I do respect him. The MOTHER series virtually changed my life. Those 2 kids own so much! :3

everyone keeps sayin PQ isnt it PK for Psycho Kinetic, oh and Lucas is awesome but i like Ness's PK Fire to be better cuz it lasts a lot longer but his PK Thunder travels alot faster and fizzes out a lot sooner making it harder to control

i used to use kirby or ike as my favourite character but now i feel like im way better with lucas. i find it hard to play with ness because hes got a yoyo 2 knock sumwun into the sky which is not that affective.

He's talking about PK Starstorm, Ness and Lucas' final smash.
And it's PK Flash, not PK Pulse. There's no such move as PK Pulse in any MOTHER game (the game series Ness and Lucas are from), and if you check Ness' trophy description in Melee, it says his B move (which is the same as his B move in Brawl) is PK Flash.

And (lol) 1 more comment to my 2 others, PQ freeze is useful when a opponent is recovering, and i have KO'd many opponents by freezing them while recovering. I must give props to people who are great with ness. His PQ Pulse move is extremely hard to master, and hard to time his Smash attacks too.
Also, Lucas's Final Smash is weaker overall compared to Ness's. But when a few hit it can rack of to a bit damage. And on the weight of the characters, i'd say they both fly off stage pretty equal

And to add to my previous comment, I use Toon link as my 2nd character. More to the lucas part, Im not saying he's the best or the worst or better or worse than Ness. It depends on how you play. He is more of a long range character while Ness is more of a close quarter fighter. I also find Lucas's PQ Freeze move to be under rated. It does a decent amount of damage, while freezing them, usually giving a person the chance to use PQ Lightning on them or getting away to a safer spot.

I'd like to point out that Lucas and Ness are equally matched, if known how to play. I play as Lucas as my main, and i have experimented, while Lucas's PQ Thunder move isn't as fast as Ness's, if hit right it can do an instant hit then damage from the surrounding thunder. His PQ Fire isn't as powerful but i find it more of a "Get away move" While Ness's is made for combat. I like lucas overall because he is a quick character, and his Up and Down smash attacks are slightly stronger than Ness's

Ness is better than Lucas.Lucas may be faster but his attacks are weaker.
It is true you can depend on his up smash to devestate but it has a drawback && it is that if you miss, he stays still for about 1-2 seconds which gives you more then enough time to finish him. His PKFIRE technique is not as effective as Ness's PKFIRE because Ness can last longer && as PKFREEZE may be faster && quicker to use, PKCROSS or PKFLASH is stronger && can be used effectevely on falling opponents.

lucas is more of a hit you hard with one hit while ness is both a combos on land but in the air one of the best anti air fighter in the game if used right.
