I have been a U2 fan since I was around 12, as in proper listening + buying albums, and since then I have only had the chance to see them live once, in 2010. If they quit now, hundreds of thousands of fans will be disappointed such as myself. Besides, if anything, I feel that they should go out with a bang, and that they should end with a world tour supporting a new album, perhaps their best if they still have inspiration.

@thefonze007 Noone in the band is anything but the best at what they do. Bono is a first-rate vocalist, even after 30 years. The Edge is an innovator. Bass and drums are perfect. They're wise enough not to forget melody, dynamics, and beat.

Despite all of that, what makes them great is the songwriting. Bono losing his mother at 14 has a lot to do with the emotion he projects and wants back and the lyrics he chooses.

Ability to still have a sense of humor and stand each other is big, too.

Does The Edge have a crew member hitting his pedals and effects for him? Doesn't look like he has a pedal board there and we all know he's notorious for incorporating a butt load of effects into his sound.

Example going into the chorus definitely sounds like he kicks in some distortion.

@aaron19038 You're right. Bono's voice takes on a different sound from album to album because he's always looking for a new way of singing something. Thinking about it carefully, he actually doesn't sound the same overall on any two albums in the band's entire discography.

As for tours, he has to balance out his technique and passion - sometimes, when his passion pushes him, he can achieve what he was always capable of, if not MORE.
