During this government shut down the US military deployed and at home will not be paid. We have men and women being shot at that now have to worry about whether or not their family is taken care of. Rand Paul is a let down. And so is this country. Ron Paul is getting older and there doesn't seem to be a credible politician who echoes his outlook in both domestic and foreign matters. Naturally one would think his son would fill that role, but it doesn't seem as though he has. He's certainly not castigated by the mainstream monkey conservatives for his approach to these issues. The only difference now is that when foreign buyers stop financing the debt with treasury bond purchases, game over. The only option then is to do away with any debt control and let the dollar collapse. When that happens, legal definitions don't matter.

Hes not wrong the price of gold thirty years ago was less than $500 compared to $1,400 today. That should be whats called a clue as to the purchasing power of the dollar. In fact today even the canadian dollar has caught up to the american dollar and exhange at an almost even rate. If you look at the dollar today its worth only a few cents of what it used to be worth when the federal reserve took over 100 years ago. Rand Paul is a let down. And so is this country. Ron Paul is getting older and there doesn't seem to be a credible politician who echoes his outlook in both domestic and foreign matters. Naturally one would think his son would fill that role, but it doesn't seem as though he has. He's certainly not castigated by the mainstream monkey conservatives for his approach to these issues. We have to find an heir.

@sfiorare wow, you have no clue. Bankruptcy is a systemic issue, not a legal one. The government is functionally bankrupt, and has been for a long time. The only difference now is that when foreign buyers stop financing the debt with treasury bond purchases, game over. The only option then is to do away with any debt control and let the dollar collapse. When that happens, legal definitions don't matter.

Hes not wrong the price of gold thirty years ago was less than $500 compared to $1,400 today. That should be whats called a clue as to the purchasing power of the dollar. In fact today even the canadian dollar has caught up to the american dollar and exhange at an almost even rate. If you look at the dollar today its worth only a few cents of what it used to be worth when the federal reserve took over 100 years ago. Someday we will all be burning our dollar bills to stay warm...

@DubGongTuff In 2000, I was too young to vote but would have voted for Bush. What Bush campaigned for in 2000 versus what he did were two entirely different things. However, in 2004 I hated everything Bush did and voted for Ralph Nader. In 2008, I actually voted for Obama. Big big mistake let me tell you. Now, I am a staunch Libertarian who has seen and read how government is inefficient, but also are destroyers of wealth and keep taking our rights away.

We should tax the rich again.1940, the rich payed 90% tax on everything but could still live in luxury and the gov used the taxes for public benefit. 2000, the rich have bribed their way to 15% tax rate keeping TRILLIONS for themselves. If we impose an 80% tax on the rich today, it would yield over $800 Billion annually. We could pay our debt in ~15 years. If only it all doesn't go to the military or more bailouts.

@ptoutlet It's just a goods tax. Say a rich person at a 0% tax spends 100 million annually. at 90% tax they'd end up spending 190M. It's impossible for 1 person to spend a billion annually unless they buy B2 bombers. They make 10s of billions every year. A couple million is pocket change to them. Simply put, they make billions every year and spend a few 100 thousand individually. They have more money than they know what to do with, other than bribe for more tax breaks. Let's put it to use.

Europe has a superior health care system and infrastructure compared to the US because they tax the rich and they don't leave. The rich fail to realize, for cyclical consumption to continue, the people must have money. They're hoarding all their profits ready to blow the country when it collapses. One of my family went to there and they said infrastructure is better. In my experience, dinner for 4 in US = ~$65 -dessert. No one's living off the state, there are corporations there. EU recently opened a continent wide health care organization for easier cross border access. Why do you think the US has no "autobahn"?

Smaller income gaps lead to less crime because there is a larger pool of people who know each other's situation. Unlike the US where 5* hotels are next to soup kitchens. --Debt was 10.6 trillion when Obama was sworn in. Before his first term is over he has already increased debt by 3.6 trillion....
