Stop denying that he's dead. It totally destroys any poignancy and drama behind the show's fantastic ending. The fact that she's looking up at the sky and her pupils are not angled slightly towards the driver means that the question is rhetorical, not directed at the guy driving the cart.

No one really knows if he's dead or not that's for the writers to decide and that's why they ended it that way so if they really wanted to bring him back they could. But for they people saying he's immortal, he's not. for him to be immortal he would have had to have the geass mark that cc has on her head or what Charles(lelouch's dad) had on he's hand so he's not immortal. We'll just have to see what happens in R3

And Charles had the Code mark in his right hand. So its no need of a direct relation between where the Code mark is located with where the marck was originally in the previous inmortal.
my reasons for him not to be alive would be he could have done this wanting to go out that way with more meaning to it and the whole geass thing where you see the past could be for any geass user when they die not just imortal geass users and cc could be talking to a ghost just like when she talks to people that arent there... when people say it had to be lelouch driving because why wouldent they show him more it could be because that guy was just a driver they didnt want to go into details.....

They are a lot of flaws in that reasoning. Plus the writers can say whatever they want; until they don´t remade the end, it will still be an Open end.

As much as i would love for lelouch to be alive. The fact that he died at the end made the ending and his plan to change the world that much more meaningful. If he didn't die it just wouldn't have the same impact as it did, the fact that he gave his life to change the world will make him go down as a hero but it's a pitty only a few will know
But I do believe that CC is talking to lelouch, like when CC was talking to lelouch's mother
@burningfirefury Actually, when you think about it, he would never have done that. Human emotions are to volatile to be quenched by just his death. If he had ruled long enough so that most of the old generation, the ones who remember the pain caused by others, died, then it would make much more sense. The only conceivable way Lelouch would have used the plan he did was if he was sure he was around to deal with the problems that would arise afterwards.

Honestly, when you think about it, Sunrise made the circumstances around Lelouch's death about 50/50, if you look at it from a non biased view, and in the end it all falls down to the viewers opinion.

I think he'll be a cameo character, they could also have it a two part show like R1 and R2 and they go after he was "killed" to another war that's sparked somehow and call it R4, Japan wasn't the only country Brittania took over they may go to another country's viewpoint too. There's a manga that's 100 years prior to Lelouch that's good also

as much as i want to believe Lelouch is alive i very much count it. the theory of him getting a code to be immortal is so flawed. there is no way he could have had charles' code because he was still able to use his geass after that which you cant do if you have a code. and the only other person who could have given him a code was CC and she sure didnt. when she said "right Lelouch?" she was probably either talking to herself or maybe (big maybe) Lelouch in "C's World"

Now to CC: wasn't the contract between both of them that lelouch helps her in order to die? what if she gave him his code before the ''execution'', so that he could survive and she could live the life of a normal human being? This wouldn't interfere with the use of geass, as i pointed out before.
@asgard129 he did use geass on nunally to get the key so he defineitely didnt get charles' code. but i do suppose that it is possible that CC gave him her code. but if he did get a code it would mean that he didnt have geass anymore for example charles and CC losing their geass when they got theirs.

no, this did not air originally in japan, it was a change they made. I have the original ending episode as it aired in Japan. It does not show lelouch's smiling face. It's open to interpretation. He has geass, those with code don't have geass. The world of C consumed Charles, lelouch doesn't kill him directly (not to mention he never forms a contract with Charles). IMO, the ending works much better with him dying. It's already proven that CC can communicate with those in the world of C,
the series is called "Code Geass", not "Geass", and CC atitude and accomplice look at the end don't fit in with lelouch dying. Had lelouch died, CC wouldn't be happy, even if for losing someone to take her off the immortality.
Also codes, rare and "esoteric" as they are (immortality) don't magically disappear, charles code went somewhere, ie. to the one who killed him, lelouch.

You people have it all wrong. When the geass symbol moved into his right eye, it wasn't because he gained immortality. It was because he pushed it to it's limits using it on "God" as they called it. Read the wiki pages on it. And also, Mao had the symbol in both eyes as well, don't forget that. He wasn't immortal either.
@robakazero true, a double eyed Geass means it´s a mature geass, which is able to adcquire a Code of inmortality.
Lelouch was able to adcquire a Code, and Charles´ one is the more lickely ( as CC had her Code in the epilogue ) in that weird scene with Charles disappering attempting to choke Lelouch in which Lelouch yells "BEGONE" and a strange geass activating sound can be heard.
I doubt its fan made since with this sort of clip you could seen the edits done. and please that scene went with everything they did with the series. Hands down.

Plus they never deny the Code/ Inmortality theory. It´s useless to say he died if he could resurrect as he was inmortal.
They are a lot of flaws in that reasoning. Plus the writers can say whatever they want; until they don´t remade the end, it will still be an Open end.

And several hints allow to especulate that Code is only activated when the Bearer dies for the first time. That´s why they can´t age and why they remain the same as when the died. So, let´s see if they ever confirm something with strong proofs

As much as i would love for lelouch to be alive. The fact that he died at the end made the ending and his plan to change the world that much more meaningful. If he didn't die it just wouldn't have the same impact as it did, the fact that he gave his life to change the world will make him go down as a hero but it's a pitty only a few will know
But I do believe that CC is talking to lelouch, like when CC was talking to lelouch's mother

@burningfirefury Actually, when you think about it, he would never have done that. Human emotions are to volatile to be quenched by just his death. If he had ruled long enough so that most of the old generation, the ones who remember the pain caused by others, died, then it would make much more sense. The only conceivable way Lelouch would have used the plan he did was if he was sure he was around to deal with the problems that would arise afterwards.

Honestly, when you think about it, Sunrise made the circumstances around Lelouch's death about 50/50, if you look at it from a non biased view, and in the end it all falls down to the viewers opinion.

Notice how it says WHEN GEASS EVOLVES INTO BOTH EYES THE USER CAN TRADE THEIR GEASS FOR A CODE. I clearly remember Lelouch using his geass after he killed his father. as much as i want to believe Lelouch is alive i very much count it. the theory of him getting a code to be immortal is so flawed. there is no way he could have had charles' code because he was still able to use his geass after that which you cant do if you have a code. and the only other person who could have given him a code was CC and she sure didnt. when she said "right Lelouch?" she was probably either talking to herself or maybe (big maybe) Lelouch in "C's World"

@KingOgnik1 well, but did he use geass since he made the world obey through damocles? if i am remembering correct he did not, so this obstacle would be out of the way. Now to CC: wasn't the contract between both of them that lelouch helps her in order to die? what if she gave him his code before the ''execution'', so that he could survive and she could live the life of a normal human being? This wouldn't interfere with the use of geass, as i pointed out before.

Lol guys. Seriously. Lelouch died. Wanna know how? When Charles got his code from his brother, He lost ALL ability to use Geass. Lelouch retained the ability to and before his death. It's been said and shown by both the show and the writers that a Code is obtained by he person who gave the Geass can grant the user his or her 'Code', thus removing the Geass and making the user an Immortal and immune to all Geass. You CANNOT have a Code and a Geass. It's more perfect with Lelouch dead. Move on.

Please please Lelouch dont be alive. Honestly R2 had one of the greatest most touching endings in fictional history. If Lelouch is alive, I feel that the entire build up was worth nothing. Please fangirls/fanboys, dont rbing Leluch back for the sake of him being alive. It would destroy such a brilliant plot, it was sad that he died but that was the point. It was a truly amazing ending that would feel like a slap to the face if he was suddenly revived.

no, this did not air originally in japan, it was a change they made. I have the original ending episode as it aired in Japan. It does not show lelouch's smiling face. It's open to interpretation. He has geass, those with code don't have geass. The world of C consumed Charles, lelouch doesn't kill him directly (not to mention he never forms a contract with Charles). IMO, the ending works much better with him dying. It's already proven that CC can communicate with those in the world of C,

the series is called "Code Geass", not "Geass", and CC atitude and accomplice look at the end don't fit in with lelouch dying. Had lelouch died, CC wouldn't be happy, even if for losing someone to take her off the immortality.
Also codes, rare and "esoteric" as they are (immortality) don't magically disappear, charles code went somewhere, ie. to the one who killed him, lelouch.
And those "i love lelouch so much but I want him dead so bad lol" annoy me. The ending felt like a trainwreck.

let me just say this: lelouch doesn't have his father's code because he used geass after he killed his father and I don't think he has C.C's code because she said: "The power of the king condemns you to a live of sollitude, that's not quite true, right, Lelouch?", if lelouche got C.C's code it would be true because then C.C would eventually die and Lelouche would be left alone (thus condemning him to a live of sollitude)

What´s the exception as she was saying "it´s not quite accurate". The statement about solitude it´s true, but it´s not quiete accurate as Lelouch and CC will live a life of solitude TOGETHER. You people have it all wrong. When the geass symbol moved into his right eye, it wasn't because he gained immortality. It was because he pushed it to it's limits using it on "God" as they called it. Read the wiki pages on it. And also, Mao had the symbol in both eyes as well, don't forget that. He wasn't immortal either.

Lelouch was able to adcquire a Code, and Charles´ one is the more lickely ( as CC had her Code in the epilogue ) in that weird scene with Charles disappering attempting to choke Lelouch in which Lelouch yells "BEGONE" and a strange geass activating sound can be heard.
