You can easily damage the rifle if you fire at such a rate. Ammunition is there set alternately in series, so when tranships so amazing pace, is very possible that the missile locks. That's not all - this can break the pin. Sorry for my English.

Of course they are blanks, this vid was put together by a re-enactment group. What is so important as to whether or not they are blanks? i don't get it. And you will experience significant recoil regardless of whether or not they are blanks. The weight of the projectile has little affect on recoil, it is the combustion of the gun powder that will be the main factor in recoil.

Not true. A blank shoots out hot gas. Although this produces some recoil, it does not produce nearly as much as a, say, 180 grain bullet, flying out of the muzzle at 2,500 ft/sec. Recoil is all about conservation of momentum. If a 180 grain projectile exits the muzzle at 2,500 ft/sec, the firer must resist the 8 or 9 lb weapon which will be moving back - recoiling - at a rate proportional to the velocity times the mass of the projectile. Gas has a very small mass compared to a bullet=less recoil
