That brought back some memories. Of all the ads I remember from my childhood, the melody on that one stands out. Had no idea that Joe Brooks had a hand in it. Were the musicians famous? I recall The Association doing a Pepsi jingle, but that doesn't really sound like them.
Probably, 'SteABW'- but all the money Joe Brooks made from his work on this- and other jingles- apparently didn't make HIM happier. In fact, it's somewhat ironic the title of this jingle was "You've Got A Lot To Live", as Brooks committed suicide this past May...seems he was involved in several rapes while playing "Mr. Casting Couch" from 2005 through '08....sad.
This jingle, composed by Spencer Michlin & Joesph Brooks (he later wrote "You Light Up My Life"), was first introduced in 1970...and this ad probably dates from the same period.
@fromthesidelines I thought it was strange that I recognised the jingle (I wasn't born until 1986), until I remembered where I'd heard it. It was sung by Britney Spears as part of her Pepsi Generations Era adverts. Michlin & Brooks must've made an awful lot of money from this!
