to DeChamp188. you dont want to just stop your approach and go straight up, you lose momentum and power if you do that, she has the right idea of moving forward into the ball, that way she gains more vertical as well as force. you just dont want to drift into the net, so thats why she's taking off from farther back, and meeting the ball with her hand. If you do your approach and stop and go straight up you lose alot of power that could have been used in your attack.
u should try not to drift so much, i use to do that until i really started to focus on jumping straighter up and i noticed that the hole court opens up a lot more cause ur higher and the ball is more ahead of u so u can see where the block and D is on the other side
To wtffffubeezie : It doesn't matter if your arms extend or not. It's natural. The only reason why you see people approach so smooth with their arms because it helps them do their approach. Just do whatever helps you and your approach.
good footwork, not so good jumping technique

when hit the ball and swing do you swing downward on the same side or let your arm go across your body and finish there?

When is the right time to move toward the net and hit the ball?
kamiraboo 2 years ago
I don't know if this is correct, but I'm pretty sure you start your approach right as the ball reaches its highest peak.

@kamiraboo depends on the set you are planning to approach to
