It's typical that humans imagine the original situation or "G_d" to be a completely self-obsessed, bored and lonely adolescent.

No wonder when he becomes human he is people like Bush, Cheney and Hitler.

BTW, there is nothing whatsoever new about this version, except the attribution of silly character traits to The Source. In a less silly version, it is the common gnostic view, and you can find a better form of it reading Aurobindo. I keep wondering why New Agers want to distract from quality.

I just want to make sure two things:

1. the Neo-Platonist ideas in there are nothing new, please refer to Plotin, for instance:

2. there are serious problems with this philosophy because if G_d NEEDS to cause suffering to inform himself HE is not a pure object of worship.

@LooksAeterna Check out PanenDeism! I think it provides an alternate way of looking at modern Neo-Platonism. Also, suffering is simply the reality we experience. Some have it, some don't, but in the end we are not really we; we are the I Am that is proving that suffering can be fixed. When everyone comes together, everyone can suppress suffering, one body at a time.

And as concerns suffering, it isn't absent for an individual merely on the grounds that the individual denies it. The activites like striving, wanting and disliking, for instance, of that individual, however, prove suffering's presence. We are not only talking about the torment of a foot ripped off but of any deviation from absolute bliss and contentment - suffering, dukkha, stress, frustration, etc.

Perhaps the root purpose of suffering in this life is to be able to achieve bliss. Without suffering, bliss could not exist because it would simply be all there was. Who cares ? It would just be what bliss is without the recognition of "bliss" as opposed to suffering. So what ? Are you suggesting the whole hell is aimed at aquiring a useless concept ? It WOULD be problematic to worship one with such a pathological intent.

AGAIN: If all is perfect at zero, who cares ? There is nothing wrong in a perfect situation, not need to "appreciate" it. If it is NOT perfect, however, then it means G_d is not perfect - with traumatic consequences - which is the problem I mentioned.

It's called 'Common Threads', and it's by Bobby McFerrin, from his wonderful album, Medicine Man.

I am a big fan of Bobby McFerrin's, and have loved this piece since first hearing it, and so was delighted to discover that its dynamic structure fit the story of Becoming Me (well, I had to adapt the narration a bit). And of course I am SO grateful that Bobby McFerrin's manager was willing to to grant me the rights to use this piece for Becoming Me.

Our God was never a child, and he always was all-knowing and perfect in understanding. I think this video misrepresents him in that respect, but I do like it for the fact that it reminds us that behind everything is God's love. Thats what everything comes down to.

Many people have glimpsed it within themselves, often with the help of a trigger, such as mushrooms. For me, most of the experiences came via Holotropic Breathwork. by saying god as the devine mother represents a woman and her voice must be feminine you are also being judgemental and putting a human element to the word god. until we can see that god is not outside ourselves, and that god is not female, male, water, dirt whatever....we will never know god. god is all god just is. dont try to understand it, dont put a sex to it. the most precious thing you can do is not try to understand, just know. god just is.

Dear FreeingYou. I agree, that we can't put a sex to God. That's why having any narrator for this story -- whether male or female -- is already a compromise, a 'step down' from the ultimate. You could even say that trying to express this in the form of a story is problemmatic, a deviation from the fact that God just is. The first line should probably be "Beyond time and space, I am", but then there would be nothing to do and nowhwere to go. And not quite so much fun!

I just downloaded the full size version from the website and watched with my girlfriend. She was crying within one minute. Gave her a FELT SENSE of oneness. This realization that we are not separate is the true aim of all spiritual paths.

Part 3 - And these can be very good, but also a lot of that comes from fear and wanting to control my live and thus his live in a very tense way. When I become aware of that more and more and renounce to act from these conditionings I can make room for consciousness wanting to raise consciousness! Part 2 - Then I also see the responsibility that I as a parent, have to develop this realisation in myself. Cause then I can talk about my own experience that I have with meditation and engaging with others in spiritual inquiry.
