thanks to the success of Garbage, this DID get played more...on MTV2...in the mid-late 90s when they still only played videos. i remember taping this a few times on vhs tapes (yeah, i'm THAT old). This was also one of the songs played in the DARIA episode "Road Worrier" (YAY DARIA!) along with Mad Season's "i don't know anything"...

I love the lyrics too, but I must break it to you that Shirley did not write these lyrics. She started writing for the first time in Garbage. =)

The drummer and the guitarist (Angelfish's music was written as a Goodbye Mr Mackenzie album before Shirley took on vocal duties). Shirley only ever had one writing credit in the Mackenzies, on the song "Niagara".

After Shirley went to Madison, she came up with the lyrics to Not My Idea while playing with Duke on swings, which was her first actual lyrics.
