Julianne Moore should have got the best actress Oscar for her haunting performance. Nicole's performance was mainly make up and prosthetics. I'll never understand why they never cast Emma Thompson or Juliet Stevenson to play Virginia Woolf who could have nailed the role in minutes.

Nicole Kidman is a naturally beautiful woman. Why does she bleach her hair out and wear so much make-up? And don't even get me started on the botox. She looks like a Vegas showgirl next to Meryl and Julianne.

I havent seen this movie, the whole way through just caught the end of it tonight, didnt know it was on and wish I had of watched it from the start. I love all the actresses in this movie, Meryl is my favourite though, I just love her incredible acting skills and presence on screen. For me she is the best out of 3. Nicole 2nd and Julianne 3rd. Looks like an incredible movie. Im gonna get it on DVD. :) <3

I think Julianne Moore did the best job and especially after I've seen this. She stays in her role and the mood that is needed for that while Nicole Kidman is just laughing between takes.

This is a great Movie i love the music and ofc all the perfomances. Wont forget that after i saw it my "male" friends lets say went to see it they told me : its a " feminist movie " fortunately shorlty after that i stoped seeing them coz they are just dumb lol.

Meryl Streep is capable, fascinating and now, iconic. However, she was terribly miscast here and wasn't able to get the hang of this character. She wasn't able to deliver anything distinctive IMO. But she did nail the last scene and her genius was evident in the way she deferred to Julianne Moore's big reveal at the end. It was shot after production wrapped and was one of the most powerful moments in a fabulous film!

Nicole is SO pretentious in this interview... but that is one of the things that always drew me to her... she has this great, almost fanatical need to be a great actress. She ups the ante on everything as a result - her intensity, her femininity, her sincerity... even if she isn't being wholly sincere! I forgive her for these vices, because it makes her fascinating. Meryl on the other hand is so light spirited and soulful.

This is the movie that first proved that Nicole Kidman CAN hold her own.

I picked this movie up without knowing who was in it (I never read the synopsis of movies) and I took it home and watched it all the way through. I remember thinking to myself, "I wonder who's playing the main character?"

Then, when the movie ended I watched the end credits and I was like, What the fuck? Nicole Kidman??

That girl played the shit out of that role. And she's been a favorite of mine ever since.! :)

the pain each woman went through was portrayed very realistically. i especially liked when julianne's screen son asked something along the lines of why they were baking a cake julianne says something like, "To show Daddy we love him. If we don't bake him a cake he won't know we love him."

i wish i could live my life watching films all the time.

lol! It's not that I hated Nicole's acting before this movie. I just felt like she wasn't memorable. But she's proved me wrong with this movie and every one after . I'm a fan now.

Yeah, this is one of the rare movies where I like everyone's role and I feel that everyone contributed wholeheartedly to the movie. Toni Collette's (Kitty) part was very important to Julianne Moore's character, even though Kitty had a small role in the movie.

It's just a great movie from all angles.

i felt the exact way about nicole before. i knew she was talented but she never really stuck out in my mind. i loved her in moulin rouge and that's when i found out how great a voice she had. but yes, she kind of made her mark with The Hours.

how awesome would it be to be on set with these people? i find it so intriguing to watch actors/actresses interact with directors and each other and to see how they add subtle nuances to the script and physical acting. so interesting.

How could one not love Meryl or Nicole or Julianne for that matter. Three of the finest actors ever. This film is a masterclass based on two other masterpieces ; The Hours and Mrs Dalloway. Every line quivers with intent.

Yes, no doubt... I love Julliane, I think she is an amazing actress.... mg, she makes me speechless seeing her in a lot of movies and Toni is just UNBELIEVABLE, she is incredible, I love her also, and my mom thinks the same.... They're amazing actresses, both of them..... It is just that I love Meryl so much and I've been "in love" with for for 12 years now, so I'm suspicious to talk about her sometimes, that's all..... I am taking acting classes and my teacher mentions her, EVRYDAY. she is a constant reminder of the high levels of truthfulnes and perfection an actor can achieve. Her talent is limitless! God, i love this movie! hope they keep on making movie with such deep and beutiful characters for women, we need more of them!

That scene was to show the passion between the two sisters. It was essentially non-sexual, but of course somewhat disturbing, a very nice way to show Virginia Woolf's unhinged quality. Woolf was, however, a noted bisexual however, and had a long-term female lover. The film explores homosexuality and bisexuality as a theme both for it's psychological and metaphoric inferences.

This movie facinates me to no end. It's a masterpiece! Also the fact that three such talented, great and wonderful women are in the same movie together. Not something you see every day. It's so touching, so haunting and it leaves a trace in your heart forever. I have loved it ever since I first saw it and no other movie has been able to bump it off the number one spot on my list of favorite movies yet. Nicole's movie "Fur" is right next to it though. She's so wonderful.
