  • At my school we set of a 2 liter bottle with some water and liquid nitrogen put the cap on and BOOM the shock wave pushed me back

  • 1:20 Leidenfrost effect

  • I've been infatuated by liquid nitrogen ever since saw the villain in Terminator-2 freeze...

  • LOL

  • you have some great stuff here

  • don't forget the leidenfrost effect

  • Ummmmm, so why do you wear a protective glove on one hand, yet you use your bare hand to transfer the Nitrogen? o.O

  • where do u get luiguid nitrogen

  • @cowgirlpride14 You can't. Also liscened professionals can get it.

  • camp beckett

  • whats smeagul doing with liquid nitrogen! >:O

  • Hey Bob , I was wondering... I was watching How to make a lava lamp the easy way. I have a way to . Water in a cup. Then Oil . Then you put salt and then the salt will carry the oil to the top giving it the effect of a lava lamp. And here is my question. Very simple. If i don't have food colouring can I use like a coloured marker or juice to colour it . By the way love your videos. Keep em coming :)

  • @cinci299 Somw markers will probably work, but others will not color the water. Food coloring is very readily available and works best. Hope that helps.

  • @ScienceBob Thanks this did help.

  • Science Bob sounds and even looks a bit like Edward Norton

  • Leidenfrost - effect at 1:21

  • this is why i like science the most

  • you said you dont need any of the fancy dry ice stuff dry ice is cheaper and you have to be a scientist or a dotor to buy liquid nitrogen in england

  • has anyone else wandered if anyone put their hand in liquid nitrogen ???

  • @LankyFaLife

    I hope not.

  • thats amazing AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN!!!

  • and thats Part of where the "Chryo-Stasis" idea in movies came from.

  • Where do you get liquid nitrogen

  • if you make the glowsticks glow, put glowsticks in ,then out, and let sit, the glowsticks will glow again right?

  • how much pressure is needed to make liquid nitrogen

  • bob nyee the science guyyy....bobb nyeeee the scieenceeeeeee guyyyyy...bob bob bob bob bob nye he science guyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • you can put youe finger in it because of the lidenfrose efcet

  • damn, u are rly smart :o say something smart that nobosy wont understand plz :b

  • cool maybe we found another way to store gases.

  • that was a smooth move diggin out the liquid nitrogen with the ungloved hand lol

  • @UserUnknown77 ha yea ive seen that kind of stuff before its acutally pretty neat. um i know you can kind of do it with water. You heat up a flat metal surface to the point were it is the equivalent of nitorgen and our skin right. ITs cool cause like the water glides and floats on the surface.

  • when it boils isn't it the leyden effect?

  • What would happen if you get it in your hands???

  • Can I be your assistant?

  • If you put food coloring in the warm water, would it cause the fog to change colors?

  • @Kinzlover33 No, when the water is vaporized it does not carry the color with it to any extent that you can see it. I wish it did - that would be cool!

  • @ScienceBob it would, just imagine it in your mind :D

  • which is colder? liquid nitrogen or dry ice?

  • @MrMariofan13 Liquid nitrogen is quite a bit colder at -320 F and dry ice at -109 F.

  • @ScienceBob hey bob, i was wondering if this project can be done with dry ice or does it have to be that liquid nitrogen

  • is dry ice available in the UK?

  • the reason it boils i think the term is called the leidonfrost effect

  • What would happen if you poured liquid nitrogen into a pool of lava? Would the earth turn inside-out?

  • If you breathed in the fumes(say smelling it) would it be dangerous?

  • that is AWESOME!

  • Unless you get a lingering amount on yourself, the Leidenfrost effect will protect you from any major injury from liquid nitrogen. But only for a moment, as when your skin cools; the effect will break down and then you will come in full contact with the lN2 and you'll get frost bite.

  • keep on! love youre videos!

  • Love the video's bob, keep up the good work :]

  • Scientists don't use the measurement fahrenheit they use celsius!

  • @supermar1os yay celsius!!!

  • He's soo awesome! You rock Science Bob!

  • You don't really need gloves to handle liquid nitrogen, it beads off your hands due to the Leidenfrost effect.

  • I think the balloon shrinked because of his breath.

  • What kind of gloves do you use science bob? and are you in the NY area? im goign to have a science kinetic art show

  • you would be the best science teacher ever!!!

  • @RedFox9911 You're forgetting Einstein.

  • so where can you buy liquid nitrogen?

  • can you keep it in a thermos?

  • funny how he warns her about wearing gloves when handling liquid nitrogen yet he fully sticks his bare hand into the container with it..

  • oh gas laws, how you make chemistry an easy, fun mistress.

  • i would want him to be my science teacher any day

  • PV=nRt =p!!

  • ahhh you didn;t freeze enough stuff!!!! XD

  • I read you can use liquid nitrogen to solidify mercury and make a functional hammer out of it... that's something I'd like to see.

  • where i can get liquid nitrogen??

  • will it compress items? i can compres my school and NO SCHOOL

  • @killerofporn Just blow the Skool up... Its far Easyer,

With this stuff all u can Do is Freeze the Skin (Littarly) Of your Teachers.

  • @killerofporn hello..you dont rember this comment

  • @killerofporn

    Yes

  • @killerofporn Try it its Funny

  • @killerofporn Or compress liquid nitrogen. Then repeat. Then you have pocket size

  • What would happen if liquid nitrogen spilled on someone?

  • hes clothes will freeze

  • i mean like, on a bare hand.

  • @halodoody

ledienfrost effect. If a litle, a poof and no harm. If a lot then not soo good

  • ow it would freeze them givve them forstbite

  • thats no good, haha

  • that would be verybad lol

  • If It Spilled On Some Ones Hand And Den Another Man Was Running Or A Boy And He Hit In The Mans Hand It Will Breake

  • it would be bad, if left on the skin for more then like a second it would probably cause whatever it touched to freeze. like frost bite. its really cool to mess with but its dangerous.

  • @killerfriend94 Check out the Leidenfrost effect it actually allows things like hands to be completely submersed in liquid nitrogen.

  • im lucky. i get dry ice every sunday. and my brother and i played ice hockey with a spoon and somehow dry ice went to his tongue and he screamed a little and i said that doesnt even look like it hurts. when he pulled it out his tongue was bleeding he told me dont do it but later when he wasnt arount i did it and it HURTS!

  • science is the best

  • i totally agree :)

  • Where I find the Liquid Nitro ?.. ask to Terminator ??

  • where can buy a dry ice and what is the price per liter or gallon?

  • We used liquid nitrogen in this experiment. Welding equipment suppliers often carry liquid nitrogen. Typical cost is about $5 a liter, but you usually have to have, or rent a special container.

  • wher do u get a pvc pipe from

  • any big home improvement store

  • @ScienceBob dry ice is not fancy and its alot cheaper....... so HA!

  • @ScienceBob where can you find it

  • @me2goodfoyou From guys who sell IcC CreamLOL

  • where could you get liq.nitro?

  • liquid nitrogen will do it but dry ice makes thicker (and more) fog/smoke stuff

  • Potater hahaha

  • sooooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing cooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllll awsome u r sooooooooooo cooooooooolllllllll bob

  • Thats cool..

  • am I the only one who thinks this is friggin amazing!
