  • I got two words for this video: EPIC FAIL -_-

  • @txchou what is this?an armpit show of tennis player/s?

  • where is top spin? bad....

  • Dude, your videos are terrible as analytical/training tools. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but they are. No one wants to see a player's torso. They want to see the grip, pronation, contact point, and follow-through.

  • it did turn me on tho

  • This retard only show Nadal's armpit!!! Stupido!!!

  • Old video and you cannot see the ball. He probably double faulted.

  • you can't even see the contact with the ball !

  • dude this video was made when he was 16 years old

  • Great Rafa Nadal. Love him. classy. best ever. elegance. :)

  • man hes ripped

  • he looks like a rabbit while serving with those teeth :D

  • holy mother of god o-o

  • search "John Reed Tennis" for more great tips and examples from kids

  • Slow motion of his face emotion !!! Wow, what a surprise!!!

  • Is this a video that shows Nadal;s topspin serve or his armpit? Got a better angle for the serve?

  • Oh No ! Rafael Nadal lost his arm !

  • whats the point in showing nadals arm show the damn ball u idiot

  • @khal178 idiot, its not like he can go back in time and change what the cameraman got

  • we need to see the ball too mann

  • We can't see the ball. Fail.

  • funny how his arm jiggles but still very awesome serve :)

  • wish i coulda seen the point of contact...

  • he looks constipated

  • lol, i actually loled at this ;)

  • Lol he angry :P :) *

  • Lol he hungry :P :)

  • Ha ha ha i agree

  • nadal has more spin on his serve.. and he likes to serve to people's backhand.... and damn.. look at those muscle lol

  • those muscles are a compensation for a lack of technique. Generally the kick on a top spin serve comes from throwing in your body weight. Nadal serves especially with his shoulder and arm muscles, he doesn't really dive into the ball but he's capable of generating enough power because he is so muscular. There are plenty of guys on the ATP who serve better with far less power but a better technique

  • What makes you think that?

  • Not that strange actually, he's right handed.

  • OMG ... lol

  • 0_0 This was a little uncomfortable...

  • wow can you show how he hit the ball instead of his under arm?

  • lol thinking the same

  • hehe his arm is jiggly

  • @liam8I26 Yeah, because it's loose... watch sprinters run the 100m... in slow -mo their faces look like rubber... they're relaxed

  • It's so powerful when it is in the real game. :D

  • thumbs up if you came here from roddicks serve :)

  • Still, even though his serve is like 150, it's not like it makes him great.

look at Federer, his serve goes about less that 130, but it's really consistent, and well placed.

  • Rafa doesn't serve faster than Roger. Rafa even serves slower than Roger spinning first serves in to Roger's backhand. He never serves fast.

  • I was referring to Roddick man.

  • Were you replying to someone else or are you saying that Rafa serves 150....

  • Referring to Roddick's record. Not Rafa, no way..

  • @Redrocket14 I did I did! :D

  • good in future there'll be players who can are both righties and lefties.....they can blow federer and Nadal out of court...

  • ??? Show the racket!

  • uncle toni made a smart move making nadal play lefty.

    lefties rule

  • Comment removed

  • he puts so much energy into each shot he makes

  • the true stuff is to see the impact

  • lol his muscles like deattaches itself and jiggles

  • hahas

  • nice teeth

  • his face is intense.

  • eww his muscle is moving wildly

  • Nadal himself admits that his serve is what needs most improvement. He puts a lot of topspin on it, just like he does with his other shots. He gives the ball up to 5000 rpm of spin, almost double than any other player. That's why it's so hard to return his strokes and that's why uncle Toni told him to play with the left hand, sacrificing power in the serve, but gaining that extra power and spin with both his forehand and 2-handed backhand. Obviously it has worked for him.

  • is that wikipedia?

  • It comes from various sources. A good one is

vamosrafa. es if you speak Spanish. Also the ATP site has a lot of info on the players.

  • I see. yes I speak spanish. I've never been to the atp site :P yet I watch lots of tennis lol

  • nadal himself also admits he likes tacos

    french fries

    and bo burnski

  • and seafood

  • when he first started playing tennis for the first time in his life did he start out right handed then left handed or just started from left handed in the begining?

  • He started right-handed, but very soon Uncle Toni decided that his backhand was too weak, so he had him switch and work the left and switch to get power when playing the double-handed backhand. Also for strategy, since more players have difficulty playing against lefties.

  • No, I saw somewhere that he was too weak and had to hold the racket with both hands so uncle Toni told him to pick a hand and he chose left.

  • no, i watched a interview and it was because toni felt he would have an advantage over other players if he played southpaw

  • there was an article in this week's new york times magazine about nadal. the article said that when he was young, he played with two hands, but toni made him play with one. his left hand was stronger, even though he did every day tasks with his right hand, so toni made him play with his left hand. the tactical advantage was an effect of this choice, not necessarily a reason for it.

  • Yep, go watch "From Right to Left". It's a short 2:30 min documentary made by Nike.

  • waoh man his left biceps are hughmongous!

  • I think both his biceps are.....humongous, no?

  • nadal is naturally right handed but he play left handed because that's the hand his coach told him to play with

  • rafa playes with his left hand when he is righty for that is serve is not so fast. watch the clip from right to left form nike about rafa

  • he is righthanded?

  • no lefthanded

    he's holding racket on left

  • I know that -_- . I was talking to someone else who claims that he is right handed but plays left handed.

  • yes he is naturally right handed, after matches you see him signing stuff with his right hand

  • yeah thats like me, although the other way around. i play with my right hand but im left handed everything else lol.

  • back the heck of Nadal hes the king of clay and will destroy roddick or federer even though a am a big fan of all 3 of them

  • roddick's not even on the chart anymore :/ (though he still is a beast ass server!)

  • In tennis and golf power comes from racquet head speed. Muscle obviosly helps but flexibility is more important. Look how hard fed / roddick serve. They aren't big guys at all. Nadal's serve is avg or even weak compared to other top 15 players.

  • Weak serve but succesfully made federer cried like a lil kid... and won more grandslam than federer at the same age...

Nadal will improve much better in the future...

  • Not sure why you are getting defensive. Just made a simple point. Nadal has an average serve at best. He wins with this ground game.

  • agreed, one of the best foot work and strokes out there

  • not really, federer showed no signs of pain whatsoever during his golden times. but look at nadal now. taping his knees

  • Muscle size doesn't neccesarily mean strength. Roddick is average-to-big in size but he creates incredible racquet head speed through his muscle power due to his muscle being very fast-twitch. Flexibility is very important (more so in golf) but not more important than muscle power when it comes to serve speed. Height i.e. leverage also plays a big part. Plus nadal hits a less direct serve with more spin than players like roddick.

  • That was my point :)

  • why all comments about rafa have negative votes? you cannot compare roddick's serve with nadal's: i've seen rafa serves at 134mph/215kmh but you cannot serve at that speed splicing/topspinning the ball too much. Roddick always serves flat when he >130mph, you cannot compare, it's just strategy, and please, stop insulting nadal's game, all players have their game and must be respected: the thing is that now, Nadal is number 1, and Roger has the most elegant game.

  • You can compare anyones serves. Nadal can't serve as big consistantly as other top 10 guys which is why he rarely hits flat. He uses spins / placement to make up for this. If he had a big flat serve like fed or djok he would use it . . . Nadal is an awesome player which is why hes #1 but his serve is a weakness of his. Anyway my point was that muscle in tennis doesnt equate to power. Idenifying a weakness in a players game is not an insult . . . Everyone knows nadal is a great player

  • muscles cool!

  • dang put those guns away!

  • yeh go nadal

  • muscles and teeth

  • haha slow motion really shows the effort of all muscles

  • look at those freaking arms. goodness

  • hey, u should watch my vidz of rafa at the aussie open this year i jst uploaded.

  • you're wrong here! because you can see that nadal has a beter stamina than many from top 10!

  • Ya of course he has endurance, he played soccer before tennis. And at about the 18sec. mark he looks like a rabbit.

  • umm i think u guys might be wrong about nadal's endurance and stamina. he has the BEST stamina and endurance in the game, best fit and he likes to grind more. doesnt mean that makes him the best and he'll last forever but hes def the fittest and ull see no one can outlast him in endurance

  • you don't know what you're saying! how can you tell nadal's stamina is low when he can a hold 5 sets!

  • holdon, his is stamina is low compared to OTHER TOP PLAYERS, now that doesn't necessarily mean he's got lower stamina than you it just means that compared with everyone else in the top 10 nadal's stamina is pretty low.

  • omg "a muscle beast" .. "not talent nor technique".

    -_-

    # 1 , nadal is

The best top spin in this time cannot mean "no technique".

  • fuck you man if djokovic and federer is the best how come nadal is numero Uno

  • he has so many arm muscles

  • he's got the same numbe rof muscles as everyone else ;-)

shame the racquet head isn't in view at contact...

  • feo

  • Estoy de acuerdo.

  • this stupid thats not even a TopSpin Serve that flat you can tell because the pronation..

  • this stupid??? wat kinda language is that? YOUR STUPID HYPEBLAST

  • read this you're a real idiot, this is the WEB not a fucking essay. My message is clear, your just a joke comedian..

  • yea well at least i can say a complete sentence without getting my grammar wrong. i maybe a nerd, but your a dumbass faggot

  • you're the stupid one, ;). ALL serves use pronation, idiot. take it from a real tennis player. the thing that determines the type of serve it is where you toss the ball when you serve. if you toss it over your left shoulder, it will be topspin. infront of you, flat. to the right, slice. ontop of your head, kick serve. ALL serves use pronation, regardless.

  • What type of serve it is depends on the type of spin you impart on it. Brushing up the back of the ball generates topspin, brushing across the slide generates slice, full pronation produces a flat serve. It is easiest to hit the serves you mentioned from the positions you described, but several different serves can be hit from the same toss position.

  • Lol i love Rafa.... but he looks a bit constipated while serving.

  • i wonder if atp tests for steroids

  • they do, remember Korda.

  • hes not on steroids. hes a physical freak of nature.

  • lol cant see his arm much??

  • too bad we cant see the ball

  • check out his bicep..

  • wow that was helpful the camera might as well have been pointed at his feet

  • u sir, are a legend

  • crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • yea, theres no point in this video, and it looks more like a slice serve to me

  • jeeeezussss

  • put a keep are you

    !!!!

  • watch my serves

  • nadal doesn't hit topspin, he hits slice.

  • he does both

  • slow motion serve videos that do not show the racquet head striking the ball are completely useless.

  • Whats the point of this video? I mean everything i wanted to see is above the viewable area.

  • needless to say its a topsin serve, as nadal is incapable of any other

  • what thentutttt

  • XSDGVFTUYOP

  • Ooooh he's so shiny....

  • yes...yes you can. what do you think a kick serve is?

  • I kick serve isnt a serve with top spin. it has side spin which makes it bounce weird directions. My second serve is a reverse kick serve, its pretty cool.

  • a kick serve is a top-spin serve, thats the reason it kicks! Now wat direction you put on the ball is different, but as long as there is top-spin on a serve, it is undoubtedly a kick, because the topspin propels the ball upward.

  • rofl rofl rofl

  • Yes u can serve with top spin. My friend seth does

  • Actually, a kick serve is hitting from 7 o'clock to 1 o'clock on the ball, which is top spin.

  • top spin is from 6 to 12

  • not by serving hes coming up like a kick but instead of ending up at 8-2 he ends up at 8-12 or 1 cant see his racquet kick is a slice serve but with diagonal motion topspin is slice but with topspin motion LOL

  • Damn! look at those muscles!

  • damned hot!

  • I WANT HIS ARMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • too bad you cant see the actual ball. lol

  • can't see the racket hitting the ball..

  • now i understand why its so easy to be injuryed, when ours mucels look like that!

  • damn he's buff, for a tennis player

  • nadals a beast

  • Nadals a beast and he is just getting started 5 grand slams and counting. nobody can even come close to him on clay and just won wimbledon 08 in a match that if nadal wasnt a beast wouldnt of won. The beast in him took that trophy from Roger Federer

  • it looked like a small child hitting the ball lol. cuz his arm was so close to his shoulder :P .

  • well that just made all the girls wet.

  • do "all the girls" find pikey, chipmunk lookalikes attractive?

  • probably?

  • It's a stretch to say that his form is unique. Some of his follow throughs are unorthodox and he hits a very heavy topspin groundstroke, but the actual form isn't special. On your server over 75% of your power comes between the "backscratch" stage to ball contact, during this time Nadal's serve is rather normal. The rest of the power comes from your legs and the snapping of your wrist, once again, Nadal's form in these steps is very common.

  • all true; except i'd argue that the legs generate more than 25% of the power...

  • I read somewhere it generates 40%. But what I wanted to know was is he using an eastern backhand for his serve? Is that what gives him his heavy topspin?

  • what a unique player, his technique will not be able to be imitated again.

  • what techqnique? lol

Nadal is just a muscle beast who beats his opponents with his physical endurance and strenght, not talent nor technique.

  • isnt any sport about having great physical endurance and strength>?

  • ur right about strength, however, nadal's physical endurance is lower than most pros due to his extensive running plus his low stamina, but nonetheless still a great player.

  • in the ranking he is number 1. now is the best of the world.

  • yes by all means he is the best player in the world but still one of the lowest stamina capacities.

  • what are you talking about this gut eats 5 setters for lunch. His whole game is based on wearing guys down and abusing them with his physical play. you dont know what you are talking about.

  • i don't think nadal has many 5setters cus he rarely needs 5sets to win a match

  • Nadal would be easily one of the fittest (most stamina) players on the tour. he grew up on clay, grinding..before he developed some weapons(like he is now), he would wear down opponents. Nadal is easily the strongest, strengthwise and endurance wise. plus do u knw how much stamina/endurance is needed just to hit the ball with as much spin and rackethead speed as nadal does for every single shot for even 3 sets? (I do, and trust me its not easy)
