About 2 years ago paul did a clinic type thing at my local music shop here in australia and only 100tickets were available. i was lucky enough to get 1 and i got front row seats. so i was 2 meters from him while he did a show for us playing everything from scarified to technical difficulties and after he did a signing. really genuinly nice guy!
in this video he uses three pedals, for that first bit, but Ibanez makes a signiture Paul Gilbert flange pedal that has a taxi/takeoff switch that sounds pretty damn close to this..maybe he has a custom smaller one for his board?
@XFattMonsterX he uses an ada flanger with a T.I.P. third hand pedal, the third and is a pedal were you can tweak a single know with the power of your foot

Overrated! I'm a guitar player myself and I hate it when everytime I see and hear people talk about guitars , it's always how good you shred. I say fuck shredding! There's alot more to playing guitar than virtuosity.
I might meet him at the namm show this year. Because my dad used to go every year about 10 years ago. My aunt knows John Mayer's porucer, so I think he can get my dad and me in.
he is such a nice guy i emailed him asking him if he would make a sound sample of the airplane flanger, and he was like " yeah i went ahead and sent it to them it should be up soon" i was like....WOW....he is just so nice i mean rlly
As far as pedals, from what I can see there: TC Electronics Nova Delay, Ibanez AF2 PG Signature Flanger, Electro Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress (he uses 2 flangers) , Home Brew Electronics (H.B.E) THC Chorus, H.B.E. Bajo Mos, H.B.E. Paul Gilbert "Detox EQ," MXR Blue Box, some channel selector pedals and not sure of the black one on the right.
My bad, what I thought was the AF2 is actually the Robert Keeley Nova Wah LE, but when I met Paul at NAMM he said that he does use both Flangers from time to time. Black one on the right is a Korg Pitchblack Tuner.
Those are puma's he's wearing. I work for puma at an outlet, I think those are called 417s but not completely sure

someone knows how can i get the first sound like a car that pual gilbert did it?
carloscudem 2 years ago
I'm pretty sure that for that sound he's using an MXR phaser and MXR "blue box" simultaneously, you can see they are in a loop together.
