I really couldn't believe this when I saw it. But I wasn't as suprised when he yanked her out of bed, groped her and called her a whore. He has some nerve lol
This scene was pretty shocking, but I think the scene in the season 3 finale is even worse, when Don calls Betty a whore. He was way out of line. Double standard, much?
I always wonder how actors cool off after a scene like this. I don't know anything about acting but I imagine you have to immerse yourself and maybe even affect the emotions the characters are undergoing. It's hard to picture that when that scene ends they can just laugh and switch right back to their real selves.
@skygrottian I think there was a contrast because Megan is not a parent. It's always easy for people who aren't parenting children to be so sweet to them when they screw up, because to them, it's not the 1,982nd time the kids have spilled stuff all over the table by being careless. My wife is a stay at home mom, and I think it's amazing what she does everyday. Few can relate these days because most children after they turn three are dumped off someplace all day to be someone else's problem.
i'm all for don (the character) cheating, and drinking and shit, but i didn't like it when he pushed betty even if she (the character is a bitch) but hey that's just me
I think the reason why people are twisted enough to sympathize more with Don then Betty, is because it easier to blame the victim of abuse than the abuser. Betty is definitely at the short end of the stick. People like to hate Betty because it's easier -- than seeing the truth of the problem: DON. And Don's the star of the show, so its written for us to like him.
I think what is so amazing about this show is that they managed to take Don, and make us all feel for him. Even the actors are amazed at how much everyone hates Betty, even though Don was a horrible husband. When Betty confronts him about him not really being Don Draper (Wouldn't you be pissed?), he was coming home to get stuff to run off with his newest mistress. Watch the first three seasons again and tell me where Betty went wrong. How twisted are we (me included) to sympathize with Don?
@supergnc i was really surprised to hear that people hate betty. yea, she's not the easiest person to get along with and she's not the best mother, but when you compare her with don, i can't help but like betty. even though she can be mean for no reason, she is always around when they need her or when don needs her. the same can't be said of don.
It's good that Jon/January are comfortable enough with each other that they can do a scene like this and make it seem so authentic. They play well off of each other.
lmao this man pushed her back!! they're both childish.

Poor Bobbie. "It was an accident" with his tiny voice looking at his dad. So cute.

I think Mad Men missed a wonderful opportunity to work an martial arts scene into the show.

Seeing Don push Betty was amazing. She's such a detestable character! ... for men.

It caught me off guard to see Don Draper show that much emotion. Evil emotion, nonetheless.

I like the contrast between how Betty deals with the spilled drink and how Megan handles it in Tomorrowland.

@skygrottian yeah, but she's hired help. she can't exactly yell at her boss's children, or berate them in any way.

No one thought it was odd that Betty said that she was "outnumbered" by the kids? How immature.

Yeah, Don pushing Betty was uncalled for, but Betty's such an ungrateful wench. She's lucky she even HAS a maid.

what did he say to her in the bedroom about the window right before she pushed him?

Oh wow. I can't believe he pushed her. What would hw have done if she had slapped him? Punch her? That's so sick, man.
Zigzag4me 2 years ago 3
@Zigzag4me she pushed him first, it was just a chain reaction thing. not saying it's right, but it's not like she didn't get physical with him.
