Republicans are shameless liars. Look at the TWA 800 shootdown and flagrant cover-up under the military gov't run by the Republican Congress. Look at the WMD war crimes. That would be it."-Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy
Meanwhile, on Sept 5, 2009 18,000 real Americans meet in a field in Ohio to protest the plans of these radical Marxists. The MSM chooses to ignore them.
At an "Organizing Against America" rally in Columbus, OH, on 9-1-09, Mary Jo Kilroy (D-OH) uses "gobbleygook" as a means of funding government take over of health care. Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher proposes fences at the top of cliffs as a means of financing takeover of 19% of the nation's economy.
Exiles800, is this the best you can do?! The NATION is already $11.7 Trillion in the RED because the government you trust so much keeps hemorrhaging our tax money in social security, medicare and medicaid ALL of which are going BUST IN 2017. And YOU want to blame it on the HMOs? And YOU think Uncle Sam can do a better job of controlling cost?!!! It's easier for dummies like you to call others racist when the likes of you CAN'T even answer the question ," How will this be paid for"
Its been explained how it will be paid for over and over. You just choose to ignore it.
The Government can't controll the cost? You must have a point since Medicare has the outrageous overhead of 3% while the private insurance companies are very efficient with an overhead of just 30%.
GS, you absolutely correct in that the funding of this HC reform plan has been explained over and over. That's because team BHObamination keeps changing how it's going to be funded and none of their explanations have the ring of truth in them.
I wonder if you would be willing to cite your source for the overhead cost you stated?
How mature and civil you are telling people to STFU & calling them morons. We do not have 2 overhaul an entire system but work on changing problem areas to cut cost. If US would open up insurance across the nation there are 1300 companies that could compete instead of 6 companies for example in one state - this allows them to keep costs high because they don't compete with every company much like car insurance. There is also tort reform or getting rid of the fraud/waste in Medicare 2 cut costs.
@GuitarSpeller I'M NOT MORON..you idiot...I'm a citizen indie voter who, if it would surprised you, actually voted for Obama. You're freakin' kidding me right? You want to write off Medicare's $60 Billion a year as a 3% overhead?
Here's the answer to your question: The DENIAL rate under Medicare is 9%...vs of 6% of HMOs.
@GuitarSpeller Where did you get your figures...let me guess Uwe Reinhardt, Obama's favorite economist? Predictable.
Listen up. The industry overhead is 10% NOT 30%. A private practitioner's overhead is 40%.
OF COURSE Medicare is at 3%...because it doesn't perform ANY admin COST CONTROLS to keep that $60 BILLION loss. Medicare has NO medical case management, underwriting, provider networks, disease management program, pharmacy, credentialing physicians, compliance with state regulations.
This is the same ignorant trash talk of the people who opposed Martin Luther King and civil rights. If you "don't want to pay for people who won't work" try starting with those insurance industry vultures and the government that serves them like a mafia. This is really shallow Town Hall stuff defeating positive change at a low level of discourse. Dummies don't realize they are already being "taxed" by extreme health care costs. What was the Republican solution again? More of the same and worse?
those who opposed MLK Jr. and Civil Rights: you mean the Democrats? The same group who created the KKK and opposed most civil rights legislation? That group? MLK Jr. was a registered Republican - next time try a little history lesson - one that doesn't come from a liberal text book. I realize it will be difficult.
FYI....SS and Medicare are "pay as you go"...there is no policy on your "insurance policy" and no private company is allowed to sell a policy and keep no cash reserves other than the Federal Government! SS was sold as OLD AGE INSURANCE...and it's going broke because your paycheck pays the benefits to todays retired....there is no "pool of risk" which is the definition of insurance! If you think Health Care is expensive now wait till it's "free"!
Should we be so blessed as to make it to free elections in 2010, without mass voter registration of millions of illegals or too big a problem from ACORN & Venezuela's voting machines, etc, ...& if by those free elections, somehow we miraculously haven't become a banana republic with such a large peasantry as to vote for more socialism in their desperation...then I just hope we'll have a whole new batch of fresh candidates step up to the plate, b/c plenty will be crying out for it.
Funny how those white wing extremist criticize universal healthcare, but their idea is to keep everything how they are and to allow healthcare to bankrupt and nobody will have healthcare. So stupid.
Yes, white people want "to keep everything how they are"............that's because we dont want our healthcare managed by the same assholes who taught you the rules of grammar in your public school education!
"white wing?" Are you a racist or simply a decendent of Elmer Fudd?
Why would any state elect such morons? Wake up Ohio! Paying for it is simple as she said in her mumbo jumbo, they plan to dismantle medicare and pump up taxes. Remember, they must spread it around all those illegals that will need free care once they grant amnesty! Good bye America. The place is being ransacked by thieves.
The bottom line is that the Democrats don't even know how the fuck they're going to make this work. All they care about is the champagne-popping back-slapping party they're going to throw in honor of themselves if they manage to pass it. Democrats don't think about real world factors or consequences. All they care about is the idea that they're being caring and altruistic by doing it. So it will screw America? Who cares! It makes us feel better about ourselves!
So people who oppose Obamacare and his socialist policies are automatically Republicans? Listen Obamabots, I HATE the Republican Party. I am an independent conservative who also spoke out against the big spending and never-ending wars from Bush. Your big mistake is assuming that Republicans are standing in the way of Obama which is a lie because Obama has Dem majorities along with liberal Republicans who can pass this. The real opposition is the American people who simply oppose the statists.
coleman wouldn't know an answer if it jumped in his lap and called him dada. as for kilroy did the questioner in this video see the key sticking out of her back? if so, it was rude not to give it a couple of turns. this is the single-payer counterattack? it looks more like a rope-a-dope
You don't have free speech rights if you ask hard questions of Democrats. Their arrogance and hatred for everything is going to bite them in the arse hard in 2010.

As long as these Republican robots can't explain why they never asked how they were going to pay for crass Bush war policy they have no credibility - no matter how much they try to dodge the valid question by calling it a separate issue - which it is not. Republican arguments are inherently corrupt and only respond to Bush-like forcing of narrow talking points guarded by literally armed gatekeepers and audience screeners. We'll pay for it with the current death health care.
Your mistake is assuming that everyone who questions the passing of legislation without knowing how it is to be paid for is a Republican. It is just as wrong as saying everyone who was against the Iraq war is a Democrat. I for one do not want to pay for anyone who will not work.

You can see the primitive responses status quo defenders are limited to. There's a distinct lack of intelligently articulated detail in their responses. I agree that the Republican Party has proven itself to be a detriment to American democracy and should lose its charter until it can prove that it no longer operates on an openly corrupt basis. This is a diversion to bully power by vested interests and not a real democracy. These goons are pretending they aren't setting up more future failure.

Listen carefully sick twisted republicans.
Asked directly about th practice of rescission in the House Energy and Commerce Committee, executives of three of the nation's largest health insurers refused to end the practice of cancelling policies for sick enrollees.
GuitarSpeller: And when a bill was proposed that if anyone in Congress who voted for this Health Care bill would be put on into this Health Care system, the Democrats voted it down. Take a look at House Resolution 615 and you'll LEARN.
I see that all democrats can do is spew insults. So, how do you pay for it? Can't they be honest and say "we're going to tax you, just like medicare, SS, and everything else we do."
To protect their bottom line, commercial insurers write policies with reduced benefits, shifting more out-of-pocket costs and risks to consumers, subjecting more to underinsurance, unpaid medical bills and personal bankruptcies. A 2005 Harvard Medical and Law Schools study identified unpaid medical bills as the leading cause of personal bankruptcy. Fully 75 percent of these filers had insurance at the start of their illness
Yes, GuitarSpeller, everyone knows about the Harvard study in which just over 2000 BK filers were surveyed and only 29 percent directly blamed medical expenses for their financial condition. But more importantly, the number of BKs filed per year is just over one million. And because of that, the other 300 million of us should be funneled into a government-run healthcare bureaucracy with rationing? Better idea: take the Obama healthcare bill and ram it straight up your ass.
seanarther: Ram it up your own ass you Limbaugh cock sucker if you think it will help. The outright fraudulent activities of the insurance companies has become so excessive there's no stopping reform now.
Keep chanting those talking points, GuitarSpeller. Better that you don't think for yourself and continue swallowing the idiotic kool-aid that companies selling insurance policies just so they can breach them is PROFITABLE. Nevermind that in most states the companies can be sued for punitive damages for breaching even 1 policy. But let's go with your plan--single-payer govt takeover and then when care is denied because of rationing, we can't sue ANYONE because the govt is immune from lawsuits.
Gaming the system for profit has given rise to the $20 billion annual business of denial managment - health insurance middlemen employed solely to search claims for excuses to delay, deny or renege on reimbursements. Thirty percent of provider claims are initially denied, requiring multiple resubmittals.
It was 1.1 billion and he paid back 500 million of it. His position ends up being $1 for every $700 they brought in with premiums. Id say if he alone was able to cut costs by one dollar for every 700 then he was worth it.
Was it too much money? Probably, but if thats your problem with healthcare, I dont know how you think the government would make it better. Remember the gov lost 4.7 billion from the post office last year. Id rather give this guy a huge salary than trust the gov.
@GuitarSpeller These stocks were bought in the open market... but I suppose you rather have the government seize a 3rd of my income to pay for fiscally failing programs like Social Security and Medicare. Why don't you present us with the MATH to save these pillars of Democrat-sponsored fiscally insolvent programs before you go all grandstanding about about bankruptcies and the evils of HMOs.
Its time for We the American People to kick republicans out of power for their treasons behavior to the American People by their repeated LIES about the health insurance crisis.
The U.S. averages twice as much spending on health care, with worse outcomes, than any other industrialized nation. Our country is unique in its dependence on over 1200 for-profit health insurances that function as gatekeepers to health care. Shareholder and CEO profits trump access to quality health care.
GuitarSpeller: Wait... Im confused here. YOu want to kick Republicans out of power? I thought the current president was a Democrat, with a mostly Democrat administration, and a Congress rules by a Democrat majority... so... exactly who is in power right now? And please give me an example of one of the "lies" that is currently going around that you have issues with.

These people never questioned the cost of the Iraq war we were told would pay for itself. None of these useful idiots for corporate rapers deal with the fact that if the public wants health care reform and it is denied by yahoos who shout about socialism or marxism that we therefore don't have a valid democracy that represents the will of the people. These dummies are fine with ignoring the fact the will of the people has been hijacked by corporate bandits and their government cronies.
Including democrats. How do you feel about the issue stop blame shifting and deal with the problem at hand. I'm sick and tired of you Obama shill talking points.

Ah mam, where are we going to get the money to pay for the 2 trillion dollar Iraq war based on war crime lies? These people don't admit that after years of Reagan rightwing economics we have arrived at that bankrupt tax base she is claiming won't support health care reform. Funny that didn't stop them from a multi-trillion "War On Terror" and military budget boost. So we have money for 1% fascism, but none for health care for the people?
Imagine going to a store and trying to buy something, but the clerks refuse to tell you how much it will cost, insist you buy a pig in a poke, and tell you how marvelous that pig is going to be, and what a nice poke. Seriously, these people want to create a huge new program and have no idea how they're going to pay for it. Criminal negligence.
...and btw....i think the iraq war has cost us around 700 billion dollars thus far. The insurance companies only profit around 80 billion a year if I have my facts correct. May we all wake up a little bit??? please?
He's not bringing the troops home because he wants them over there while his national service force goes after Americans. Also notice that none of the usual leftist (Code Pink, Answer, etc) groups are speaking out against the war. If anyone still believes in the fairy tale that Dems are the party of the working class and poor they're smoking crack
Of course, everything bad in the country, inherited from the Bush Administration is now Obama's fault. Obama caused the recession, Obama caused the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In 6 months I won't be surprised to hear Beck blaming Obama for 9/11.

How are we going to pay for healthcare???? How about asking the question, how the fuck are we going to pay for an inherited war??? A war that has done absolutely nothing for the American people. How bout that question? But, noooooo, trying to pay for healthcare is somehow unpatriotic. Absolutely asinine!
Is the gov't option the only viable option or are there other things that can be done in smaller measures that will help with health care reform? The dems are saying this is the only way to 'fix' things and that's a load of crap.
Please offer a solution. Unfortunately the only thing that comes out of a conservative's mouth is tort reform. In Texas they've had extensive tort reform since 1993 and still have the highest health care costs in the nation.
Unless you have an idea that puts downward pressure on premiums while providing ADEQUATE health insurance to those that want it, you're not helping.
Wait a moment please because it is my understanding that the gov't option isn't working in Mass so I can give tit for tat. Possibility of opening state lines would be a start. Tort reform is in fact another option. notice that health care costs go up with a lot of illegals in the state. Because the hospitals treat the people without health care and you and I both know that cost goes to insurance companies. Giving the gov't any more control is stupid and costly. Look at social security.
Holy Crap! What's wrong with Social Security? Have they stopped paying out benefits? No. Have they reduced benefits? No. Is it currently solvent and will be for at least the next 30 years? Yes. But somehow it's not working and can't be fixed? Please.
What's wrong with the public option in Mass? Oh, that's right, it's "public option" is only open to the poor and near poor. Everyone else has to buy private insurance. That's why a mandate is senseless without a public option open to all.
...oh...you mean the public option that was supposed to insure 100% and and didn't....and is dumping "illegal alien coverage" just to save money? Evil!!! and was supposed to save 10% through "efficency and wellness" and ended up costing 40% more? Brilliant! Don't let the facts get in the way of your "public option" .....talk about a system that has been proven "broken" every time it's tried! How are you going to pay for it...."I'm not...you are" isn't the right answer!
Really Dundertaker. You expect effeciency and wellness gains to take effect instantaneously? Are you denying that one of the major reasons that it doesn't cover everyone is because some people cannot get subsidized insurance and PRIVATE companies charge to much?
Moreover, the Mass did not dump "illegal alien coverage." IT NEVER COVERED ILLEGALS. It cut back on LEGAL aliens. People with green cards that came to this country LEGALLY.
Actually I don't....but I don't expect any government program to work as advertised....and thanks for the correction, but "100% is 100%" and I've heard the whole "sick care" arguement...and it's HACK. The people who need that most will not use it...and no other country deals with the diet, geography, or varied lifestyles the US has, so it's fantasy to think you would reap any substantal savings from wellness. Can't blame the private sector since they are "mandated"..it's not working as sold!
Do you mean how Social Security was originally touted as a voluntary thing and one particular party made it mandatory oh and then they made Social Security funds public so that it can be dipped into anytime anyone wants. That system is bankrupt. Medicare will be bankrupt in about 5 years. Do you read or do you just listen to what you are spoon fed without looking at facts?
What are you trying to get at kathy? Are you saying we should eliminate both Social Security and Medicare? Be honest with yourself and ask if the American people really want that.
Would you invest your Retirement savings in SS? Also, where is your "policy"...Social Security is "social insurance"...where is your money? No private company can "pay go" for all their claims with current premiums and keep no cash reserves. If you want someone else to pay your bills just say it....quite trying to sell a bad plan! They can't even tell you how it's going to be paid for...and neither can you!
Are you really going to make the argument about retirement savings? If I had all of the money that I've contributed to SS in a diversified portfolio in the stock market I would have lost 40% of my savings last year. 40% !!!. Social Security beneficiaries got a 5.8% cost of living adjustment this year. And for those that lost a ton of savings, it's kept them off the street.
Social Security, despite how it might have been sold in the 1930's is a safety net that everyone pays into and gets.
Uh huh...until 2020 or so...and your stocks are private investments...you could have put it under your matress....SS will be a 100% loss if it folds or bankrupts the country....You can sue someone and get a million dollar settlement..but if they have no money you have a "piece of paper" that is worthless...kind of like your "social security" if it isn't fixed, also no COLA for 2 years and it's not insurance it's a scam....again....HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR HEALTHCARE!
Until 2020 or so? If I was retiring this year I'd be screwed. That's why the vast majority of people in this country are against privatizing SS. You can't sue someone for market volatility. You can try, but there would go the other 60% of your savings. And by the way, there is no COLA for the next 2 years because of DEFLATION. Price levels are going down.
We pay for a public option the way we pay for anything else, fees, taxes, improving efficiency and PREMIUMS.
So don't invest in the private market? Everyone is the victom, if they make bad decisions and I know..EVIL WALL STREET..BLA BLA BLA! And why are levels going down when we spent 3/4 of a trillion to "FIX" the ecomony? Oh...G.W. Bush ate my homework! I remember... PAY FOR YOUR OWN! "WE" don't pay for "anything else" in my home with taxes or fees...only the government does...and helathcare is not a "power" I'm willing to give away to knuckle heads in DC. Would you want GW Bush to run your HC?
Somehow I get the feeling that you're yelling at me through a computer screen. Look, I never said that investing in the private market is bad. I think it's a good thing. However, I think it would be foolish to invest what has become a social safety net in the stock market. I don't think that's a ridiculous statement.
Health care has become so expensive it is pricing too many people out of the market. No one should be priced out of health care. Maybe we simply disagree on that.
We disagree on the solution, and I'm not yelling...sorry if that's the "tone" I conveyed! I've been to my reps THM'S and he couldn't answer this simple question either. The reason none of these programs work is because WE are not paying for them...period! The "cost" of health care will never go down unless you put people back in charge of their own decisions. LOOK UP: John Stossel: Insurance Makes Healthcare Far More Expensive. The system failed when Gov. and Ins. got between you and your Dr.
Heh, I just watched the John Stossel report you suggested. Unfortunately I feel it leaves out an entirely different side of the story. For example, both private insurance and medicare negotiate with doctors to decrease prices. That's why certain doctors won't accept certain insurance. They don't wish to be paid that little.
However, I agree wholeheartedly with him when it comes to elective procedures and routine office visits. However, I don't want to shop around if I need an MRI.
(last post..it's been fun)...I believe that is only a "segment" but if you look on his page he "blogs" many more solutions. My main concern is you won't get an MRI because it is not "necessary" to a politician and government Dr....similar to other "socialized" systems. In Canada: "The time for the most urgent cases to get a scan ranged from less than 24 hours to more than one month. Lower priority patients waited between 28 days and three years." article: No one tracking who gets MRIs first
I understand that your issue is primarily trusting government. And there have been a ton of things that have happened in the past that should cause people to mistrust government. However, that does not require eliminating all government programs. It requires holding government more accountable.
That's an interesting jump to make I was criticizing the way that those options were treated. Don't make the effort to put words in my mouth unless you are far more clever.
you have free speech rights, but nobody has to listen to you

There is also tort reform or getting rid of the fraud/waste in Medicare 2 cut costs.

GS, medicare denies services all the time. That why medicare user need private insurance to cover what medicare doesn't cover.

@GuitarSpeller I'M NOT MORON..you idiot...I'm a citizen indie voter who, if it would surprised you, actually voted for Obama. You're freakin' kidding me right? You want to write off Medicare's $60 Billion a year as a 3% overhead?
Here's the answer to your question: The DENIAL rate under Medicare is 9%...vs of 6% of HMOs.
joktu 1 year ago

Democrats don't think about real world factors or consequences. All they care about is the idea that they're being caring and altruistic by doing it. So it will screw America? Who cares!

Listen carefully stupid republicans.
GuitarSpeller 2 years ago
Yes, GuitarSpeller, everyone knows about the Harvard study in which just over 2000 BK filers were surveyed and only 29 percent directly blamed medical expenses for their financial condition. But more importantly, the number of BKs filed per year is just over one million. And because of that, the other 300 million of us should be funneled into a government-run healthcare bureaucracy with rationing? Better idea: take the Obama healthcare bill and ram it straight up your ass.

GuitarSpeller 2 years ago
The republic party is shameful. The the following fact is OK with them.
FACT: $1.4 billion in stock options went to former UnitedHealth CEO William McGuire alone.
GuitarSpeller 2 years ago
It was 1.1 billion and he paid back 500 million of it. His position ends up being $1 for every $700 they brought in with premiums. Id say if he alone was able to cut costs by one dollar for every 700 then he was worth it.
Was it too much money? Probably, but if thats your problem with healthcare, I dont know how you think the government would make it better. Remember the gov lost 4.7 billion from the post office last year. Id rather give this guy a huge salary than trust the gov.

Its time for We the American People to kick republicans out of power for their treasons behavior to the American People by their repeated LIES about the health insurance crisis.
The U.S. averages twice as much spending on health care, with worse outcomes, than any other industrialized nation. Is the gov't option the only viable option or are there other things that can be done in smaller measures that will help with health care reform? The dems are saying this is the only way to 'fix' things and that's a load of crap.
administratorkathy 2 years ago
Please offer a solution. Unfortunately the only thing that comes out of a conservative's mouth is tort reform. In Texas they've had extensive tort reform since 1993 and still have the highest health care costs in the nation.
Unless you have an idea that puts downward pressure on premiums while providing ADEQUATE health insurance to those that want it, you're not helping.
shalcall 2 years ago
Wait a moment please because it is my understanding that the gov't option isn't working in Mass so I can give tit for tat. Possibility of opening state lines would be a start. Tort reform is in fact another option. notice that health care costs go up with a lot of illegals in the state. Because the hospitals treat the people without health care and you and I both know that cost goes to insurance companies. Giving the gov't any more control is stupid and costly. Look at social security.
administratorkathy 2 years ago 2
That's why a mandate is senseless without a public option open to all.
shalcall 2 years ago
...oh...you mean the public option that was supposed to insure 100% and and didn't....and is dumping "illegal alien coverage" just to save money? Evil!!! and was supposed to save 10% through "efficency and wellness" and ended up costing 40% more? Brilliant! Don't let the facts get in the way of your "public option" .....talk about a system that has been proven "broken" every time it's tried! How are you going to pay for it...."I'm not...you are" isn't the right answer!
Dundertaker1 2 years ago 3
Really Dundertaker. You expect effeciency and wellness gains to take effect instantaneously? Are you denying that one of the major reasons that it doesn't cover everyone is because some people cannot get subsidized insurance and PRIVATE companies charge to much?
Moreover, the Mass did not dump "illegal alien coverage." IT NEVER COVERED ILLEGALS. It cut back on LEGAL aliens. People with green cards that came to this country LEGALLY.
shalcall 2 years ago
Actually I don't....but I don't expect any government program to work as advertised....and thanks for the correction, but "100% is 100%" and I've heard the whole "sick care" arguement...and it's HACK. The people who need that most will not use it...and no other country deals with the diet, geography, or varied lifestyles the US has, so it's fantasy to think you would reap any substantal savings from wellness. Can't blame the private sector since they are "mandated"..it's not working as sold!
Dundertaker1 2 years ago 2
Do you mean how Social Security was originally touted as a voluntary thing and one particular party made it mandatory oh and then they made Social Security funds public so that it can be dipped into anytime anyone wants. That system is bankrupt. Medicare will be bankrupt in about 5 years. Do you read or do you just listen to what you are spoon fed without looking at facts?
administratorkathy 2 years ago 3
What are you trying to get at kathy? Are you saying we should eliminate both Social Security and Medicare? Be honest with yourself and ask if the American people really want that.
shalcall 2 years ago
Would you invest your Retirement savings in SS? Also, where is your "policy"...Social Security is "social insurance"...where is your money? No private company can "pay go" for all their claims with current premiums and keep no cash reserves. If you want someone else to pay your bills just say it....quite trying to sell a bad plan! They can't even tell you how it's going to be paid for...and neither can you!
Dundertaker1 2 years ago
Are you really going to make the argument about retirement savings? If I had all of the money that I've contributed to SS in a diversified portfolio in the stock market I would have lost 40% of my savings last year. 40% !!!. Social Security beneficiaries got a 5.8% cost of living adjustment this year. And for those that lost a ton of savings, it's kept them off the street.
Social Security, despite how it might have been sold in the 1930's is a safety net that everyone pays into and gets.
shalcall 2 years ago
Uh huh...until 2020 or so...and your stocks are private investments...you could have put it under your matress....SS will be a 100% loss if it folds or bankrupts the country....You can sue someone and get a million dollar settlement..but if they have no money you have a "piece of paper" that is worthless...kind of like your "social security" if it isn't fixed, also no COLA for 2 years and it's not insurance it's a scam....again....HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR HEALTHCARE!
Dundertaker1 2 years ago
Until 2020 or so? If I was retiring this year I'd be screwed. That's why the vast majority of people in this country are against privatizing SS. You can't sue someone for market volatility. You can try, but there would go the other 60% of your savings. And by the way, there is no COLA for the next 2 years because of DEFLATION. Price levels are going down.
We pay for a public option the way we pay for anything else, fees, taxes, improving efficiency and PREMIUMS.
shalcall 2 years ago
So don't invest in the private market? Everyone is the victom, if they make bad decisions and I know..EVIL WALL STREET..BLA BLA BLA! And why are levels going down when we spent 3/4 of a trillion to "FIX" the ecomony? Oh...G.W. Bush ate my homework! I remember... PAY FOR YOUR OWN! "WE" don't pay for "anything else" in my home with taxes or fees...only the government does...and helathcare is not a "power" I'm willing to give away to knuckle heads in DC. Would you want GW Bush to run your HC?
Dundertaker1 2 years ago
Somehow I get the feeling that you're yelling at me through a computer screen. Look, I never said that investing in the private market is bad. I think it's a good thing. However, I think it would be foolish to invest what has become a social safety net in the stock market. I don't think that's a ridiculous statement.
Health care has become so expensive it is pricing too many people out of the market. No one should be priced out of health care. Maybe we simply disagree on that.
shalcall 2 years ago
We disagree on the solution, and I'm not yelling...sorry if that's the "tone" I conveyed! I've been to my reps THM'S and he couldn't answer this simple question either. The reason none of these programs work is because WE are not paying for them...period! The "cost" of health care will never go down unless you put people back in charge of their own decisions. LOOK UP: John Stossel: Insurance Makes Healthcare Far More Expensive. The system failed when Gov. and Ins. got between you and your Dr.
Dundertaker1 2 years ago
Heh, I just watched the John Stossel report you suggested. Unfortunately I feel it leaves out an entirely different side of the story. For example, both private insurance and medicare negotiate with doctors to decrease prices. That's why certain doctors won't accept certain insurance. They don't wish to be paid that little.
However, I agree wholeheartedly with him when it comes to elective procedures and routine office visits. However, I don't want to shop around if I need an MRI.
shalcall 2 years ago
(last post..it's been fun)...I believe that is only a "segment" but if you look on his page he "blogs" many more solutions. My main concern is you won't get an MRI because it is not "necessary" to a politician and government Dr....similar to other "socialized" systems. In Canada: "The time for the most urgent cases to get a scan ranged from less than 24 hours to more than one month. Lower priority patients waited between 28 days and three years." article: No one tracking who gets MRIs first
Dundertaker1 2 years ago
I understand that your issue is primarily trusting government. And there have been a ton of things that have happened in the past that should cause people to mistrust government. However, that does not require eliminating all government programs. It requires holding government more accountable.
