Looks like the Azeris are lacking logic not considering the fact that their economy will suffer so badly if Aliev starts a war. Also the BTC pipeline is not too far away from Karabakh border and Armenia has warned already that it will strike the pipeline which will also cause problems in Azerbaijan. Aliev will not attack Armenia and have his oil business suffer because of it since no European country would want to rely on unstable Azerbaijan who is in the middle of a war.

If Azerbaijan can't take care of its Azeris in the north, as the video shows, what makes you think they would have taken care of the Armenians in karabakh. Azerbaijan would have neglected karabakh on purpose so that the Armenians would have no choice but to move. Eventually karabakh would have become 100% Azeri just like Nakhichivan did. Looks like the Azeris are lacking logic not considering the fact that their economy will suffer so badly if Aliev starts a war. Also the BTC pipeline is not too far away from Karabakh border and Armenia has warned already that it will strike the pipeline which will also cause problems in Azerbaijan. Aliev will not attack Armenia and have his oil business suffer because of it since no European country would want to rely on unstable Azerbaijan who is in the middle of a war.

Abkhazia and S.Ossetia did. In any poor country, the minorities tend to get the worst neglect, when this happends, they obviously want to take control of their own people and they seperate. I would like to agree with you, but in reality, most Azeri's favor some sort of foreign intervention, and not necessarily America, I did not say that. Most of Azerbaijan's oil goes to Europe and change would not occur unless the regional hegemons support the anti-government movement in the country.

There is certainly a small group of elites in control of the country, but they do not just control the government, but the military as well. Also, they command a significant political party led by Aliyev which has a great deal of support (hard to say how much exactly, due to the corruption and unfair elections) Anyways, the failed attempts for revolution before give little hope that things can change without foreign support and aid, for example, U.S. and European help in Kyrgyzstan.

As long as the regime in power appears to be a U.S. ally, and they have oil to sell, the U.S. gov't will probably leave it alone. But I believe there can be an influence from outside. If there are investments from inside the U.S. in Azerbaijan, people in the U.S. will criticize investment in a country where there are bad conditions for ordinary persons.

Azerbaijan wants her border to be set as it was just 20 years ago.There are millions of Azerbaijanis living in Iran or in Georgia and once upon a time those territories beolonged to Azerbaijan including with Zangezur and even Yerevan, but Azerbaijan doesn't care and has nthng to claim from its neighbours.

Keep dreaming. Azerbaijan is no different from the now powerful western democracies including US which lived through corruption, crime, poverty, inflation. Our main problem is Karabakh, which is illegally occupied by neighboring Armenia. We will poor the oil wealth where our big problem is, and will free our lands accordingly. Everything takes time. This one is no exception.

It is too early to talk about dutch desease in Azerbaijan. Currently, there is no 'symptoms' of dutch desease. I believe that government doing well. Of course, a part of corruption: yes, there is a wide scale corruption and Azerbaijan is not only country in the world that suffers, as well as some of west countries.
