This could be the answer to my problems! I'm getting back into spinning, tryna convert my 12"s to digital . Came across the issue of lack of control of the mix, during my research the last few days. I have boatloads of crates from days of spinning at raves, going back to 1988. My question about timecoded vinyl is , how are tracks accessed? If I understand it correctly , then tracks are coming via the software like Live DJ , which has "virtual decks" ? And the track is encoded to the timecoded?
If people want to Digitally DJ then let em, it doesn't mean you don't have skills if you use DVS over real vinyls. DVS's are just as hard as vinyl, that's like telling an artist if you use photoshop you're not a real artist.
@Americansneverwinwar Why hate on the guy when hes doing something he enjoys? You dont have to be a pro to enjoy turntablism you just have to enjoy it.
stop digital vinyl.. keep real vinyl alive... stop downloading.. suport your local record store.. suprort the dj culture.. dig! have fun.. suport the love of VINYL>. dont let this digital age kill us...
@johnDfly HMV put a stop to vinyl in my Town! they put all of the shops out of business that sold vinyl and then they stopped selling it them selves!!!!!! fucking tosser large corporations!!
not hatin on ur setup...but i'm a computer guy...why are you using a compaq presario...thats kinda like using a dell...compaq is hp's bottom of the line product, shoulda gone with toshiba...they seem to be outdoing hp, sony, and yes even macs.
@DJMikDeez you need the traktor scratch (duo or pro) with the audio interface audio 4 or audio 8 , there is no other way, neither with serato, that's why he uses it with virtual dj
yoo im having sum trouble i need sum 1 to help me out. i wanna start to dj and im gettin like basic numark battle pack turntable and mixer but wat do i need to get so i can hook it up to my computer
I realized what I have to do is put RCA to microphone jack into my "Record" on my mixer & the microphone jack into my Mic input on my laptop. But it sounds like sh!t.
I have a quick question....I have my turntables hooked up to virtual dj & everything. But when I record my mix...I use my crossfader on my mixer, then when I listen to what i recorded, it just plays both songs overlapping, As if I didn't use my mixer @ all. But out of my speakers as I'm recording it, my mixer works fine. So my question is, How do I get it to record me crossfading & effects with my mixer?
Is this as good as serato or traktor? I mean im not bothered about BPM counters as I can beat match with vinyl anyway? Its just i dont have £500 to buy Traktor.
hey man i got the sam set up just that i got a vestax pcv-175 3 chanle mixer i want to use the vestax as the mixer and have the hercules mk2 just there like you have it but when i connect the wires it dont work and i get confused because the chanles in the back of the vestax is weired can you help out? anyone

does this happens to you the timecoded vynl works fine for about 15- 20 minutes and then you cant control it any more and you have to use hercules mk2 control so you could play and stop a song the vynl in virtual dj still does what you are doing but just wont control the song unless you press play or stop on hercules please respond oh and im using torqs time coded vynl and i have to put my pitch all the way to the minus other wise it would sound like chimpmunks if i just leave it on 0 or normal

@Amisterasian yea you can get a Maya 44 usb or an American Audio 4x4 Versaport. for like $100
The Maya comes with asio
Versaport you need to download asio drivers

So if your Hercules midi controller is your sound card, I take it you dont need any kind of ASIO soundcard setup?

@StargazerJeff the hercules mk2 has a built in asio driver so it's pretty much all u really need, and it's cheap.

you can get 2 of the numark virtual vinyl records from pssl-dot-com, 15 bucks for a pack of 2, plus (for me) $10 s/h. So 25 for 2, not too bad.
But out of stock until August =(
(The virtual vinyl uses the exact same timecode as virtual dj, as I understand it.)
