Hey! I've stumbled across this from a blog site and I'd say you folks have done the Star Trek mythos proud! Very good effort, people. I'll be looking for your other work now and I hope you keep up your very good work making Star Trek live!
Farragut and NV had an agreement to supply props and costume material for use of some sets. And no, that is not why Cawley is in it. The story simply required a send off.
Ya know, this was actually pretty good. I didn't even know about this production until I accidently stumbled upon it. The special effects scenes were really very well done. They were much better than some sci-fi productions that have a much larger budget than these guys. I believe I could become a regular viewer of this series. The only bad thing I can say is that the acting can be bette and Spocks makeup could be less garish. Other than that - Great Job! I'll spread the word.
I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words. Make sure you take a look at our teaser trailer for our second episode. Currently our next episode For Want of A Nail should be released on October 10, 2007.
Good job... I've been watching Star Trek since 1966 and have been hooked since. Special effects are great. Acting and story are good. Regarding the Klingons..Aside from Warf's comment in DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations" I do not recall if the issue regarding their physiological change from TOS to TNG, etc. has ever been addressed. It might make for a compelling story.
Keep up the good work and thanks for keeping the ball rolling!!
Actually it was addressed on an episode of "Enterprise" in it's last season in '04 - '05 (season 4). Apparently what caused the change was some sort of virus, that only affected the Klingons (there was some implied association w/ the virus to AIDS, & that's why Worf didn't want to comment on it -- because of the embarrassment). Many Klingons did die from said virus that was released in the last half of the 22nd century (during the time of "Enterprise").
And there has been some implied dialogue in the other series, the movies, TNG, DS9, Voyager and the final episode of Enterprise that whatever the virus was a cure had been found for it by the time of the beginning of the movies (that started in our timeline back in 1979, but in the "Star Trek" timeline was a little later on in the 23rd century).
I must say this was really great. Personally I've always loved the classic 23rd century timeline and I only wish CBS Paramount could give you a contract to make Starship Farragut into a weekly series. Keep up the good work.
You guys done a wonderful job and I know you had a lot of people dedicated to this project, keep it up and cannot wait to see your next episode, hopefully I can find many people here who will want to do a fan base Star Trek themselves here is Huntsville Ala.
considering the hard work, the budget as well as the script I would say this episode was outstanding. Please continue to produce episodes as your continued practice will improve the product.
Very nice work. I appreciate the attempts at humor and character interaction. Good luck on future episodes. Don't let any naysayers get you down. As Spock said, "As a matter of cosmic history, it is easier to destroy than it is to create."
What a pleasant surprise, truly liked it. The idea was simple and well developed, I'm a fan of the ST series too and it's nice to see fans taking it to the next level with out making it a cheese thing.
And I hope things keep going!
A note: there was a Broughton captain in history I think, he was a pirate or a buccaneer, but got hanged by his own crew :)
Just finished the ep. Excellent work (and slick inclusion of the NV crew). I also love the five card stud reference, a small tribute to Star Trek: The Next Generation. I salute all of you for puting together a great adventure, and look forward to more adventures with the crew of the USS Farragut.
Forget the naysayers. You've done a great job. Carry on with pride. I'll be waiting.
Good film. There are a few of the typical first episode blunders, such as the acting, and a few lines that sound wrong no matter how they're said. But I expect this to be a good series. Keep it up, and never stop learning.
I want to thank everyone for his or her posts. We do read these comments and use them as a guide for improvements. I also want to apologize to everyone for having to put up with some users who hide behind their monitors to portray themselves bigger than they are. I have forgiven those individuals and I hope you can too. Lets move forward.
Sure, there are areas to improve, but it's their first episode.
Y'all shouldn't be so pickyune.
Calling people fat, and saying they have no dignity, is just nasty talk.
Didn't your momma ever tell ya, "If you can't say anything nice, then don't say anything at all?"
Besides, it's FREE entertainment... they paid for it, didn't cost you a cent. Folks get really bitchy over something they got for nothing. You all would complain about a free lunch.
Not horrible, but not great either. A better script with less exposition would be nice. New Voyages improved. There is definite room for improvement here too.
I wanted to watch the whole episode before commenting. Great job, guys! Congratulations to everyone involved. You should be very proud of what you accomplished here. I can't wait to see more!
All that I can say is that you guys tride hard there is plenty of room for improvment and you have a was to go but your get there some day.

Wow! and this is just the first episode! The acting was a bit ropey in places, but overall it was fantastic for a fan film.

Now THIS is a valid critique.
AND, I agree. Less exposition would have been good. I see where they were going with it, but it dragged on a bit, especially in act 2.
Liked the action sequences, though.
