  • this piece should be in G moll

  • Four years? Stunning.

    Thank you.

  • Really nice, well done.

  • Quite nice! Not an easy piece at all. Keep it up!

  • orribile :S

  • like the hair nice touch

  • Very good, its a tough piece.

Your left hand technique is way better than your right hand, you should work on the right hand, try to play with a lighter touch and less tension- takes a lot of practice, but real important for producing a good sound.

    Bravo!

  • I thought you put a heck of a move on it. you DID say it was you TRYING to play it, and it's not bad at all, shows alot of talent and hard work. As an ex-rock musician starting Bach at 47, I say way to go. You're young enough that who knows where your style might end up? People seem so opinionated with their comments. I say, long live rock, long live Bach! Music wasn't put here for us to tell each other what has to come from our hearts. Go with YOUR heart. you'll be sincere, that way.

  • Metal is a broad genre with a great many worthy bands. I enjoy both metal music and Bach's compositions. Learning this fugue at the moment, as well as some metal songs ;)

  • Ottimo.

  • Nice choice of composition...I will say though, that anyone caught up in any trivial human errors when listening to such a piece is snooty and loosing sight of the movements in the melody. The melody and harmonies are where "it is at", and you portrayed them well. I say, 'when you are comfortable with something, change what you are doing'...

  • @melodicdreamer72 I agree, and I think for the most part most people agree. This was fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

  • Amazing sound and what a wonderful mentor to emulate! Nice work. Keep up the beautiful work!!

  • I can imagine the Concentation, Discipline days, weeks, months, and maybe years You have dedicated to learn this piece = this is one of those ADVANCED PIECES and you have JOINED the Ranks of Christopher Parkening, Julian Bream and Alirio Diaz who i have listened to their 33 rpm LP Vinyl Disk i bought in the mid 1970's.. . You deserved a MASTER Class with Julian Bream .... BRAVO! Thanks for Inspiring the World...

  • Amazing, dude.... a...maeh.... zing... :)

  • You guys are on crack.. is it not possible to like both bach and metal? Clearly two different genres with two different compositional styles, no point in comparing them. Let them coexist.

  • Bravo dude!. I pretty much got the basics of guitar down, I can read sheet music, I know a couple of scales and some chords, but I'm just caught up in which direction of style I should head towards first, metal, classical, flamenco, jazz. I want to learn it all it's so overwhelming.

  • hymnistic must be an old fart because there is beauty even in the heaviest of metal.

and definitely extreme talent to keep on time and shit. i can't believe they dissed metal so hard as to say banging on pots and pans, pfff fuck that. drumming can be very intricate in metal. plus they say drumming helps to use certain parts of your brain that you dont normally use.

anyways great video man, im sure youre way better now.

    keep it metal too.

  • Good effort. Keep playing.Once your technique catches up with version of the piece you have in your head you're going to sound pretty cool.

  • Oh man, are you just "trying" to play? Oh c'mon, you plays very fucking hard man!

you really plays great! congrats =)

  • very nice but a little slow would be great! :)

  • Killer for 4 years...thats an epic piece...you know...you should definitely check out a recent Julian Bream video of a master class he was teaching in which he goes into great detail that very piece you are working on...I know you would dig...he especially elaborates on the ending...

  • very well done but you can't do rubato in barroque ,you are playing in romantic style.

  • fucking immense dude, 5 stars. its awesome to know that classical is appreciated by a metalhead, most dismiss it without realizing its in alot of modern day metal.

  • check my vids :D

  • Wow this is so hard to play. It's a teacher's level. How did you play this from only learning for four years? I've been playing classical for 3 years now and I'm no where close to touching that piece. I've been learning Recuerdos but Bach is just too difficult.

  • you just have to practice a lot man, and practice what you cant play, dont practice what you can already play.

  • as long as you practice this sheet 2-3 hour a day four several month, you can play this without seeing the fret.

  • Comment removed

  • @hymnistic

I agree that I am quite sloppy on this video...I plan to give it another try sooner or later, it's been almost three years and I reconsider the folly I commited posting it as it is...

As for the band, I left 5 weeks ago and haven't listened to any metal since. Yet, I believe among the popular genres, it isn't the worst. There are actually bands that are worth listening (just to consider there is at least potential). Well, probably not my former band, though you're harsh I agree.

  • @Jurneyd How about your updated rendition? This is a piece worth polishing and you've got so much invested in it already. You go in my place, as I doubt I'll ever get to the level you were at. Carry on for us wannabes! Earl Ledden

  • @Jurneyd You left Fallen Joy? It's a shame, I thought you guys were great.

  • @Jurneyd Play everything that turns you on. The more genres the better. I love some nasty Drum n Bass but this is also so incredible. Teleman, Gerald Finzi and above most is Bach. But also Nirvana, Metallica, Noisia, Technical Itch and GnR. There is quite a lot of crap I agree but in all genres there are masters and thats what I really love. With your knowledge of Bach on the guitar Im sure it would influence your Metal style uniquely.

  • @hymnistic if you have the 'refined' qualities of being able to enjoy music for what it is, maybe one day you can drop your prejudice and appreciate all types of music instead of blabbing your mouth about what kind of music is better. GTFO

  • @hymnistic Dude you can go fuck yourself.

This guy is too good to play classical shit.

Metal, torture by sound ? Shut up, you don't know a shit about music.

Bach doesn't have the half of metal composers' skills.

Keep rocking Jurneyd. Seeds Of Tyranny solo is amazing. ;)

  • @hymnistic

Sorry but you are fucking idiot.

Music is Art. Art is a reflection of life. Life is at times VERY ugly.

I’ve played more or less any and every form of music you can shake a stick at, from Punk and Thrash metal bands to concertos and period ensemble music, to Jazz trios and English folk music and I can say life is all the better for varity from both an educational and enjoyment purpose.

Live in you little world if you must, but you are missing out and holding yourself back.

  • VERY GOOD! enjoyed this one very much! GREAT fingerwork man! keep up the good work! ole!

  • Nicely done! Does anyone know if there are tabs available for this?

  • nutabs(dot)com

    search Bach

  • thanks!

  • Cant find it at nutabs. Would it be under "Fugue in A minor BWV 1000" or is there another name for this piece that I am not familiar with?

  • Ah found it under ""Fugue (G-Moll) BWV 1000" at nutabs. thanks

  • yea thank god i found nutabs......this is a very nice piece, though I only like the near beginnings

  • ahah tabs??? this is a really hard piece....

  • does anybody know where can be downloaded the sheet? I would like to learn this song.

  • The "Guitar School Iceland" has this and much much more. A terrific site. Good Luck

  • Very Nice. I love Bach

  • u are great classical guitarist....i`s a very hard to play man....very excellent....god bless u

    best regards

    yusmalmsteen77 from malaysia...

  • damn im learning this piece on violin right now and its slightly difficult (understatement) good job

  • u're just amazing. i'd love to see you playing something like wold and teh raven, do ya know?

  • Fantastic! You're amazing. That song is very hard to play. I hope you will continue with your music!

  • Great work.

    Viva bach!

  • Dude this is awesome!!! you played this fugue awesomely.Ive only been playing for about a year and a half now and have been basically only teaching myself Bach.Hopefully one day ill be able to play this like you. What transcription is this by the way?

  • can you give me the tab please? thanks

  • Dis- moi tu joues seulement depuis 4 ans ?

  • you're way ahead of the game if you've only been playing four years! How many hours a day do you practice? I will check out your metal mode too. Thanks for posting.

  • That is a very difficult piece you are playing. Give yourself great credit. Excellent stuff!

    Best regards,

    Steve

  • that was nice!!!!!

  • Great playing. I look forward to more of your work.

  • I'm not an experienced musician, but your sound is clean, smooth transitions and nice emphasis when needed, overall, excellent! Please keep up the great work! Oh, and it's nice that you're not arrogant, so give yourself credit, the hard work shows.

  • I think bouree is grade 6, anyways this one is really hard, Lots of respect as well :)

  • hey i'm wondering what level this piece is??

  • i'm wondering too, i think the highest level..

that was really nice played, respect

  • Great job man. I can definately appreciate this performance, becing a student of classical guitar as well. With some more practice, you will play this even more beautifully.

    -Eric

  • hi, im struglin with this piece too, you did a great job but i would take off the glisandi you accidentaly make...

great metal band too! check out mine at myspace: /legionlp

    saludos desde argentina

  • i think the glissandi can be avoided but not completely, some glissandi makes real performance "real".. if you want a perfect performance you can use computer to play midi files perfectly lol =P

I'm planning to play this piece after Chaconne too, sounds very great

  • Do you have the sheet music for this, I'd really love to learn it.

  • if you wanna help your technique, try and never bring your thumb over the neck and rather, rotate your entire left hand so there's always a gap between your left palm and the fretboard

  • algun dia me gustaria tocar como tu saludos

  • One question. How does one know what key you play in? The way ive understood it it is cause you start on an A and then the piece is in a. That right?

  • First, because it is written =D. Then, you're right, I start and end on an A. You can also see there are some parts in C and parts in D minor which are close tones to A. Well, otherwise, some happy few can tell the key just by hearing the piece, but they are few :p

  • Thanks. Ive never gone to a guitar teacher, and Ive played for 2 years:P About time I learn these things

  • wowooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool

  • Nice playing. I think this is the version that Segovia played. Nice hair too.

  • Thanks for my hair ! Haha

  • did u just not read that he's in a metal band..... long hair is the way to go.

  • Yeah, and after you cut your hair put on a wig, have 20 childrem and get an eye desease, minimum conditions of the Bach-police ...

  • Je, i don't mean that, but its a good point.

  • Hi. This is one of my favorites of ever. i'm play a different version in G minor. i'm search this version but can't found in any site. you have the score?

    greetings.

  • I'm just amazed you memorized this whole thing!

  • Bach was not a genius. He is the biggest genius!!!!

  • This is one of my faviorate Fugues! Good effort, a little bit sketchy. Your slurs need work, and your technique needs modification

    tu me manque m'chou

  • what was the book called that you learned this piece from?

  • you played it nicely, just pay attention to the leaps you're doing with your left hand, thats not really good for the melody cause it makes it sound too abrupt. And there is also some sharps notes that you forgot to play.

keep on working =] you're talented

  • lots of mistake but it's a very very hard one to play so congratulations, you seem to be young...

  • I thik is nice i would like to pley this too.Good work

  • huge

  • now let me ask you something, god playing but, did you learn this form tabs?

  • No I didn't, I've got a book with lots of Bach parts.

  • Hey Dude.....Awesome

  • je m'en lasse pas

  • can I say wow..?

  • Je te renvoie le compliment ! C'est super beau!

  • good work

  • what is this guitar????an alhambra???rx

  • Really very well played congratulation! Take your time and listen to Paulo Martelli who plays the same piece. Keep up the good work!!

  • I played the 1000 for a long time in concerts too - good work, there is talent - my proposition: take a metronome! - you`ll wonder...

  • my dad used to sing the intro using my name when i was a kid to sleep

    memories

thanks bud i finally know its name :D

  • Congratulations on your achievement, this is a tough piece (I know as I'm currently trying to get it down). However, I think you sacrificed clarity, technique and musicality for the sake of speed. I'd suggest practicing slower and making sure each note is clear and your transitions are flawless, then work on giving each line a dynamic and emotional contour, then worry about speed. All this said, you still did a good job.

  • il avai raison le monsieur xD

    chouette canapé :p

    (seigneur des anneaux? :p )

  • I think this is a very good interpretation. I've seen a lot of BWV1000-videos on youtube. But this is clearly one of the best.

    gnihihihi

    21 (l)

  • and very well played by the way

  • nice couch

  • One of my favorite pieces!! Great job!

  • bien joué ;)

  • 5 stars good work !!

  • 4 years huh...this is awesome!

  • nice one. you didn't do bad at all.

  • Damn bach from memory is very hard! His compositions have not repeat patterns! I play him both on piano and on guitar (actually I'm a guitar noob, I'm playing the Anna Madalena notebook pieces :P). So good and patient job Jurneyd!

  • That's not bwv 1001?

  • The fugue is similar to BWV 1001(differing entrance of subjects in the very opening of the piece), but it's BWV 1000, originally written for lute.

And I will add that it is played very nicely. Well done.

  • Great work ! Hope to see more from you.

    5 Stars !

  • if you had a 20 thousand dollar guitar it would sound just like eliot fisk.

  • Not bad.But your guitar performance is not enough for Bach...

  • very good.

  • Hey, this is very well done! Out of curiosity, how long did it take to get this piece to this point? It seems like a LOT of time. Great job!

  • I don't know really, I had periods when I worked it a lot and others when I did'nt so it slowed me...

Of intense work, several weeks I think, maybe a whole month. But to play it, it took me even more.

    ...I think it's still not enough =p.

  • you have a lot of feeling

  • how long have you spent one this piece? I'm planning to have some reportoires beofre the summer ends.

  • how long have you spent one this piece? I'm planning to have some reportoires beofre the summer ends.

  • its really good and to be frank i enjoied your version as much as any played by bream williams or segovia!!

  • What!!? the first 2 ratings averaged to 1 star. Unfair! That's not an easy piece, not to mention, it's long! That was very cleanly played! 5* !

  • i can hardly immagine how much work you had to put yourself into to learn how to play it. this song is amazing..

  • Pretty much ^^.

  • good technique but the interpretation is...as rating - nothing special.sorry for my english.too fast.

  • yeah but you can tell the kid actually cares about the song

  • realyyy ? lool

moi jsé pas parler anglais..donc o lieu de dire Good Game mennnn jvai dire Bien jouer t'assures ;)

  • Um, this is the g minor fugue.

  • Actually it is, but we play it in A on guitar =).

  • Oh, interesting! I couldn't tell--I don't have perfect pitch. :)

  • Me neither.

I just can't imagine the amount of mistakes I would make if I had to play it in G...

  • lol ya. not easy shit lemme tell you

  • Yes it is, but we play it in A minor on guitar.
