I did this in my game yesterday. I acctually got a hat trick. I shot the ball into my own net attempting to put the ball around the net. Second I took a brake then went back on the floor tried to block a shot and tipped off me and in then the same shift I ripped a shot from the point and this time in the right net . I'm no expert, but I think that's why.

You know what would suck the most? If a player scored against his or her own team and didn't win a championship because of it. For example, what if its game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final and its in overtime. Imagine if a player accidentally put the puck in his own net. Number 3: If somebody plays power-play in advantage after foul and he shoots own goal, this goal shouldn't be valid (according to international and european hockey rules), because there is no one, who shot it. The own goal doesn't exist (in ice hockey) and if rival player touchs the puck, the game should be aborted.

Ok so, Here is a better way: There was a delayed penalty, so then the defenseman (I think) shot it, then it hit the goalie and bounced off into the boards where the other team got it and passed it to the defenseman, the dfenseman missed and it went it there goal
