Yes Germans were not all Nazis. The people that were betten or killed were not all innocent victims. In my aunts town there was an incident like the ones in the video. The chief of the local SS and other members were caught by people that recognized them. They were beaten in the town square and then shot in the woods. The main point concerning the evacuation of German civilians was not done the way most people think. There was objective criteria used. The main criteria to be put on the list is that the person living within the borders of Czechoslovakia had to have taken citizenship of the German Reich instead of citizenship of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
I thought about the Benes statue latly as I stood in front of it. Well what I learned was the reason why the satue was erected. It was erected to honor the first czech president, it wasnt erected to honor the decrets and all their aftermath against civilians with german heritage. The problem in Germany and maybe Austria and Hungary is the fact of the expelled people and the terrible times they had after the war to get out of the lost home..

We get along with the Slovaks and they get along with us. We do not get involved or takes sides in that dispute. The Hungarians imposed their will on the Slovaks and now the tables have turned. It is not a justification of their action but just an explanation. If French was the language in question in Slovakia they would not ban it. There are many Dutch that come here in the summer, they are Germanic and are very welcome.

Many Thousands of German Women and Children were brutally murdered by Czech civilians in Moravia, Bohemia and the Sudetenland in 1945. This film shown many murdered POW's however it also (by chance) shows some civilian dead and beaten. A rare film.

To say that any civilians deserved what they got is to admit that your mother, daughter, or sister should be subject to rape, torture, expulsion or death because of who you voted for, fought for, or were drafted by. The film was made by a U.S. film crew for sure. The dead are only recently dead, and some are still dying in the footage. I doubt if anyone on the scene foresaw Yankees showing up with a color movie camera. This is probably Western Bohemia because the Americans never got any further in any numbers than Pilsen, Czech.

@jeeplake The Gernan occupation of the Czechloslovakians from 1938 to 1945 was cruel and the Czechs were entitled payback since the SS and Gestapo terrorized the Czech for 7 years. This is why Germany has no friends because in the time period they murdered 3 millions Czechs. I think the German had it coming but they still got off light for the war crimes on the Czech people. Nice to see justice upon the Germans!

the Nazis had the Wehrmacht, some of these were NSDAP partie members, but no SS. So NS Germany first put the ordinary german soldier (Wehrmacht) into the line of fire, let them getting killed and after the harsh battles were over...the SS came out of their hideouts and killed civilians and POW´s...the red army consisted of many "tribes" of siberia..and they raped and killed

Germans were the agressors. They killed more than 20 000 000 innocent people. After 6 years of terror in Europe, ally nation took revenge. You would have done the same. SS officers were really bad, they deserved to die. Wehrmacht soldiers were german boys, another story. Yes Germans were not all Nazis. The people that were betten or killed were not all innocent victims. In my aunts town there was an incident like the ones in the video. The chief of the local SS and other members were caught by people that recognized them. They were beaten in the town square and then shot in the woods. As for the rest, we lost innocent people then the Germans lost some innocent people as well. That is an unfortunate price for starting a war.

ask the people living there in Sudetenland, they belong to these lands, and they should decide were they wish to belong to...and as far as I am informed they are happy to be Czechs...so these lands belong to the Czech republic. These pictures shown are long ago, and they show what people can do to others even without feeling a threat, just full of hate and propaganda. No...our borders are fixed in Europe and should remain in the present configurations.

The German gov. of recent years has tried a lot to reconcile the problems of the past. They admited that wrongs were done and that they disagree with what their nation did in the past and forgive the retributions that they sufferent. They are working towards reconciliation with the rest of Europe. International relations in Central Europe are the best they have EVER been.

"Reconciliation", that is the important word. If we keep going into the past we will only repeat it. There was one person that lived not far from where I lived now that was in the red guard, but only later. The story that people in that small tiny town tell me is that he was cooperating with the Nazis and then turned against them so that he could look good in front of the Russians when they came. He killed the actual individual people that he was cooperating with. What can one say?

Benes is seen in a bad light in Germany and Austria. Not many people know what many of his decrees were about. The main point concerning the evacuation of German civilians was not done the way most people think. There was objective criteria used. The main criteria to be put on the list is that the person living within the borders of Czechoslovakia had to have taken citizenship of the German Reich instead of citizenship of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.

I thought about the Benes statue latly as I stood in front of it. Well what I learned was the reason why the satue was erected. It was erected to honor the first czech president, it wasnt erected to honor the decrets and all their aftermath against civilians with german heritage. The problem in Germany and maybe Austria and Hungary is the fact of the expelled people and the terrible times they had after the war to get out of the lost home..

(2nd part) The exeptions to not be deported. 1 if in a mxed mariage withCzech citizen. 2. Active in the resistance movement. International law dictates that and those that occupy a foreign country cannot gain the citizenship of that country. Same as an American soldier and his family could not get German citizenship when he was stationed in Germany after the war. The Sudeten Czech were deported from the Sudeten lands in 1938, then the tables turned. Benes decrees were sanctioned by the allies.

(3rd part) The Slavic and Germanic tribes were fighting anyone can remember. The bad feeling will not go away that fast. Plus other recent problems happen between our countries that I would not like to write on youtube. But bad actions of individuals unfortunatly flow both ways and then again the completely innocent suffer from it....again. This cycle has to stop I am tired of it as well.

I was not even aware of a gasline incident. We do not get much news about Poland here. I cant stand Gasprom and Putin either. There was a few incidents about overzealous police in Germany searching cars with Czech plates. There are still many Czech criminal gangs that steal in Germany. With your new president dealings between our governments and companies is very quiet. Just a note Poland gained territory in the Munich accord and had to give it back after the war as well.

That is much like the US bill of rights and the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms. (I lived mostly in North America). The Russians are potetialy dangerous, they are not a democracy yet and they have a civil was in Chechnia. We do not side with other Slavic nations just because they are Slavic as well. In fact even Poles are not popular here. The Polish army came here in 1968 with the Russians. Our closest friends are the Slovaks, we get along fine with them.

We get along with the Slovaks and they get along with us. We do not get involved or takes sides in that dispute. The Hungarians imposed their will on the Slovaks and now the tables have turned. It is not a justification of their action but just an explanation. If French was the language in question in Slovakia they would not ban it. There are many Dutch that come here in the summer, they are Germanic and are very welcome.

Acts in recent history +subsequent issues not language and ethinicity determin how a certain group will be treated by another. Another point, German soldier in WW2 knew what will happen in Germany when the Russians will get there since they comited somany murders in Russia. It would be very naive to think that the Russians would not try and do the same in return.

(3rd part)The English proverbs "As you do on to others they will do on to you" There is the point of the Benes decrees. One culture tried to subdue another by force + violence. Ex. Someone invaded somebodies house, iltreated the owner, stole from him beat his family and so on. Then in time the owner of the house kicked the intruder out without letting him take his things. Should the house owner be treated as a criminal for protecting his property and family? That would not be logical would it.

okay I was and visited the czech republic several times and I still am a frequent guest to Your country. Your comparision with the house and criminals is a bit weird in my eyes when comparing germans and czech and polish people living in lands nobody knows where they belong to...the germans claimed them german, the polish claimed them polish and the czech were convinced to get ri of the germans after WW1 just like the polish did...but politics had different ideas.....

Many many more times over- Czechs and others were transported from Terezin to Auschwitz by Germans. One of them was Capt. Emil Visov. Czech peoples remembered Lidice and Kladno massacres, hostage executions, slave labor.

the problem is, that whole Nations are always rated by the deeds of a few. Its true that parts of the Wehrmacht and the SS (Heydrich) did very cruel things, without the knowing and without the agreement of the german people. The red guards after the fightings were over did the same, they couldnt find any soldiers so they punished the resuming germans which basically were kids, women and eldery and POWs in some cases..it was not the czech nation it was a bunch of red guard idiots

Most German soldiers of the "Heeresgruppe A" in Czechoslovakia refused to give up their weapons until they reached American war captivity. The major part of "Heeresgruppe A" capitulated after May 8 1945.

Many Thousands of German Women and Children were brutally murdered by Czech civilians in Moravia, Bohemia and the Sudetenland in 1945. This film shown many murdered POW's however it also (by chance) shows some civilian dead and beaten. A rare film.

Then they stole civilian clothes and tried to run away from the Russians. The German civilans were Nazi colaborators and they tasted their own medicin like they deserved. To say that any civilians deserved what they got is to admit that your mother, daughter, or sister should be subject to rape, torture, expulsion or death because of who you voted for, fought for, or were drafted by. Truly a sick thought and a typical Victors hypocrisy... such is the vicious cycle of history. If we could all be honest with each other and true to our selves then wars would not be fought. And further more on that note....
