A solar storm is emininet. A remote viewer who has a history of being accurate warned of waves of solar storms lasting months. By opening your steel cabninet to get to your supplies, your other gadgets could fry. Have backup radios after backup. Wrap them individually. Opt for gas lanterns and candles. Stay away from electric until after 2012.
Make it possible to manipulate radio knobs while it's still inside a rat cage. Buy only 12V appliance because car batteries will last.
So in the event of an EMP, I worry that the starter and generator head would be fried because of the windings inside. I was under the impression that basically and kind of circuitry will be rendered useless. Am I wrong? Any why? Great video!
@MrShawn305 My understanding is that solid state and electronics are the ones that will not survive. Starters, motors and genset heads will do fine as long as they are not connected to the grid. The power grid will act like a huge antena. That is why there large transformers are so vunerable.
@OBXSOLWIND That is a big relief. So simply grounding the equipment in question may be the only precaution necessary. Perhaps keeping a spare ecm for my truck in a safe like yours could help quite a bit as well.
battery can be affect by a emp but mosty not, it would have to be a big emp for the sun.
3.if and i mean if !!! you stress this enough you can make your home emp proof.
and i mean stress as don't miss a thing. you can be sitting in your home and a emp would hate and you my not know it happen in tell you get a nuck on the door of people ask why do you hae power?
i take EMP warning seriousy, what i have learned in my electronics classes and on tha web is emp is a hard then to stop. but if you know a few things about shielding
you can protect all of your electronic device's.
1.you most remembered that a emp well not just cum throw the power grid.
2.Emp well affect solar panels do to the diodes and cum throw the wires in your home form the panels and destroy the inverter and charge controler,
Very informative. Actually there are more people taking this warning serious then most people realize. As of 9/22/2010 my Solar Storm Warning dot com website receives 69,000 to 85,000 request per hour for automated information from the website. We must keep in mind that generators will be of little use to most everyone as fueling stations will also be out of service. Unless we have a large underground storage tank of diesel as gas goes bad quickly, most are going to run out of fuel quickly.
kevin one key thing your missing is a good size smoker. I m a country boy and a grill can work ok but long term a large smoker is the best.Great video!!!!
You have one of the best channels on YouTube. Appreciate all the info you provide. Checked out Empact America...great stuff. Just starting to prep a little. Seems like such a uphill climb but I'll get there.
Why don't you make a faraday cage and put some surge arresters in your main/sub panel? 2 or more grounding rods 6 feet apart grounding the cage and you're good to go...
had a 1946 chris craft 26 ft cabin boat...80 hp flathead v8...just points and condensor........right now i have a 80 chevy luv truck that i keep just for backup..have extra coils and ignition....i keep them inside antistatic electronic baggies.....
I believe it's only a matter of time as well. Glad you put this video up. I am trying to make my whole basement an EMP blocker. But I really don't know what would come into the house carried through the main line. 90 to 80 percent casualty rates in the first year, pretty grim.
Ya I've had some degree of concern about EMP for a couple years. I've got a rural bug out location (where I have family) and I've already stocked it with about 8 months of supplies (just in case). Got an EMP proof Dodge pickup with a Cummins B series engine. Of course I'd lose my antilock brakes, radio and such but I'd still be mobile enough to get my gear moved. I suspect an EMP would trigger a truly horrific nuclear exchange but that's no reason to just give up.
one second after great book

solar panels will not survive, they are made up of semiconductors!

i well have to make a video on how you can prepare for a emp.
but for now the baseic then you can do is rap the inside of a box with aluminum foil.
and then styrofoam and you have a pretty good faraday cage.
