the pilot was an asshole who had been reprimanded before for reckless flying. It was showing off pure and simple but other people died because of him. I hope he realised what he had done in the last seconds.
When the wing goes perpendicular to the ground like that, there is no more lift under the wing, therefore, at that point it just falls, as you can see. Sad move, bad judgement to bank that steep. RIP
To answer why would someone do that. The pilot, Bud Holland, was an idiot, and probably an overconfident, egotistical jerk. The USAF should have fired him long before he had a chance to kill his fellow crew members & waste millions of taxpayer dollars.
The three most useless things in aviation... the sky above you, the runway behind you, and the gas you leave on the ground. ... pretty much sums this one up.
@machinimaman1 he just got crushed to the fuck and exploded into pieces and his molecules were burned DOWN to FUCK by the fire, how would he survive that?
I wonder why people take such risks? Its not even intertaining to see some big plane go around in a circle, big whoop. Save your life and just do a fly by.

The USAF claimed that the pilot flying this B-52 was a little to stupid and if he carried on they would give him a huge kick up the ass he carried on this happens. The problem was there was pilots he took with him RIP to all of them. That bank angle was to tight unfortuantly this crash was due to pilot error. Yet again i say RIP either way they were heroes.
It's called a knife slide folks, its not uncommon and provides normal lift, the only issue is that knife slides are fighter maneuvers, so it was a rudder issue, not a stall, so enough trolling his actions
my colonel knew the pilot in this video, it was kenny something don't recall his last name or maybe that was his last name, but he was trying to bank it and obviously didn't work, but show the man some respet, after he did fight for our country, OORAH!
This was done by a possibly-insane pilot at Fairchild Air Force Base. en(DOT)wikipedia(DOT)org/wiki/1994_Fairchild_Air_Force_Base_B-52_crash It was not at an air show; it was for a practice at an air show. Sadly, it killed one pilot who was on his final flight before retirement--the screams you hear are his friends and family, who were there to watch.
Speaking as a pilot, I don't know how anyone could put a plane of that size in such a manuever, Perhaps the starboard engines had a surge and caused the port wing to lose lift, resulting in a wing stall. Just horrible to watch.
To me it looks like the pilot banked way too much for a heavy aircraft like the B-52, and it got out of control and stalled. Unrecoverable stall, pilot error. A lot of old planes are put to the test by pilots who don't know the limits of the aging airframe. Re-created aircraft are therefore much better in airshows, as they are built from the ground up, and haven't seen any air duty. I like ca. 100 years old aircraft best, they don't even look like they could fly, but they do.
@Barbecutie1 sorry mate you're wrong... wikipedia B52 crash Fairchild Base... it was all pilot error, theres an accident investigation write up there.

@blue46gt It was 100% pilot error and it was the pilot error which caused the engine to stall. The pilot also did not follow the correct procedure to get the plane out of the stall. I heard it in the news on some other youtube vid of this footage.

It's interesting to read what people think if they don't actually know anyone on board. I was stationed at Fairchild AFB then and actually witnessed the crash. It waqsn't during an airshow; it was the one of the practice runs for the airshow to be held that upcoming weekend. It was also the hopes the base morale would be helped since the previous Monday (20 Jun 94), Dean Melberg killed 5 & changed lives on, too. Trust me, nobody "had it coming" and all four on board were killed.
Maybe im wrong but at 0:240:250:26 i hear engine stall there is a 3 seconds sound delay (distans of camera) so this "stall" happens same time plane banks hard & gets in a stall Pls bother and download this video and analized it i search the other footage of this crash and has the same sound event too and its not a glitch (old film etc) NO i didnt solve case here maybe pilot corecting thrust but for sure its and odd thing with a +90 deg bank is way to crazy for pilot to reduse thrust
at 0:23 why non of the crew screamed power power??? at least the co-pilot could push the throtle up they had 5 sec even for thrust delay to respond you know what?? i belive both pilot and co-pilot were arguing about the turn CP no stop get level wings P why u scared?? Cp come onnnnnn P bite me CP i will ground you P yes sure 0:26 Cp nooooo P damn it Cp bank right P power power CP eject ej.... the thing is what ever really happen only 4 people knew it and they where all inside
the pilot was a cunt who wanted to be a fighter pilot, the real tradgy is the co-pilot pressed eject but they couldnt get clear of the fireball in time
You don't get any dumber than this. This pilot is not even 750 feet off the ground, piloting the heaviest aircraft in service, and tries to execute a 90 degree flat turn. he deserved it for overjudging his aircraft. only a complete fucking retard would try that
This pilot is an idiot he is turning too close to the ground the turn was too much at an angle when u turn a plane, u do it at sixty degrees not ninety and he can do it at ninety if he has enough altitude and also the wieght of the plane is taken into consideration .
Because he was at a 90 degree bank he was not getting any airflow under the wings to give him lift, complete stupidity on the pilots part expecially that low to the ground.
there was 4 people on the plane and they all died, he was trying to swerve to avoid going into restricted airspace but he banked too much and the plane stalled and crashed
@Raiden4418 He was in an airshow at a military base, he had NO restrictions to where he could go... an as for the stall, he never stalled he went over 90 degree bank angle which caused the nose to dip also he had flaps extended by the looks of it 15-25.. which was probably to slow him down in the turn, like GA aircraft do in valleys to turn.
@TheDdhere well obviously the pilot and crew died did you not see the 50 tons of fuel blow up? they cant eject from the plane its a bomber not a jet fighter
@iBuRzT You can eject from a B52 and it has been done, didn't happen here though, although I seem to recall the co-pilot did try to, but I do know noone made it.
