  • @GeorgeCarlinIsInHell you have no clue what the hell you're talking about.

  • So Classic. Thanks for posting.

  • Just my opinion,

  • Anybody think that if the lead singer had a different hair style in a different color, he'd kinda look like Freddy Mercury?

  • @tsjrlover Uh, I love Queen and Freddy Mercury but how do you think Rob Grill looks like Freddie, nope. Rob had blue eyes and perfect teeth. They are complete different races - Rob - totally American white guy and Freddie - beleive or not he was orignally from India and that was his race.

  • If you can't say anything nice about Rob,shut the fuck up assholes!!!!

  • Rob Grill caught Aids from Chuck Negron.

  • wow....I love the melody , lyrics and tempo.....nice....

  • Great Music! What does it matter what they died from, I'm here to listen to the music, not judge them by race, creed, color, or sexual preference.

  • @manthony1956 ; 'creed' ? CREED BRATTON...original Grassroot !

  • thankyou so much for posting this. RIP ROB.

  • Rick Coonce died of heart failure in Feb. 2011. Rob Grill died in July 2011 of complications from a head injury following a stroke and a fall. Neither were reported to have had AIDS. It seems a shame to have misinformation posted here for no reason.

  • R.I.P. Rob Grill.7/11/11 I learned of your passing by your good friend Cory Wells at a recent 3 Dog Night show 7/16/11 where he played your favorite 3DN song. I wish I could have seen you before you passed.

  • The keyboard player is Dennis Provisor...not Eric Carmen

  • Hey ringo 244 your an ass

  • @rjf6079 FUCK YOU ASS HOLE

  • RIP Rob Grill, thank you for your wonderful music

  • Rod Grill lead singer dies at age 67.Rock on Rob

  • Rest in Peace Rob Grill Glad I got to see you in person... Greatly Missed.....

  • I am so sorry to hear that Rob Grill passed away. He was a great one. May he rest in peace.

  • R.I.P. You will be missed. The Grass Roots is one of my favorite musical groups.

  • Everyone of their songs I loved. RIP Rob Grill. I had such a crush on the two lead singers. One of my favorite groups in the day.

  • R.I.P. Rob Grill

  • Life was simpler. Maybe even better, hat do you think? Check my play lists!

  • heres another classic from the grass roots, i could listen for hours and never get bored in the least PEACE ALL

  • Sounds a lot alike the song Someday By Chicago

  • Great band but this is one of their worst songs,

  • Great clip and great band. Loved "Bella Linda" especially. And I agree with those posters who never thought we'd get old. How did I become 48-years-old... and can it be possible my son will graduate with the class of '13? I still feel like the nine-year-old who spent his summers in the tire swing with a spring of rhubarb from the garden, listening to the transistor radio to the Grass Roots.

    I wanna cry.

  • @notredamehesamighty It's nice to feel the innocence of youth. You have accomplished a wonderful thing. You lived 48 years. It's also nice to feel the wisdom of age.

  • They were my favorite group growing up. so good to look at! This was real music with meaning. They made my teen years wonderful. I still love them!

  • I probably grew up 10 years later than you, but I've always love the Grass Roots...

  • LMAO generation boom!!

  • Words in this song are so true!! I feel the song.

  • I Love this band & song, BUT....

Whats with the RAINBOW SWEATER VEST ????? LOL

  • they should make a song that explains "dividing by zero".

  • This is just another one that brings back so many memories! Thanks so much...

  • Warren Entner was my favorite, so charming!!!

  • terrible audio..

  • Just heard this on Majic 105.7 great song

  • ah...the days when am radio meant more than hearing about of shrill voices screaming about politics

  • I am a Japanese of 15 years old.

Will you teach the name of the person of the main vocal?

    I ask.

  • @konpeitou1000 His name is Rob Grill.

  • @muthuuht

    thanks!

    I'm sorry in poor English.

  • @konpeitou1000

    Rob Grill

  • @ny2ca72

    thanks!

    I‘m sorry in poor English.

  • i remember seeing this on tv & fell in love with dennis even though i was only 12 at the time & had no idea what boys were(unlike little girls of today)....funny, now i am 50 & he is still hot!! i wish this kind of music was still the norm!! it is fantastic.

  • @jackie60 did you ever think that we would ever be as old as our parents?

  • @brabon1

One of the great lines of all time.

  • Comment removed

  • @brabon1 And we certainly didn't think we'd ever be as old as our grandparents! o.O

  • @generationboom arrrrrrgggh....my friends all have grandkids

we were promised that we would never get old

time to fire up the bong and pretend im a kid again

  • @jackie60 amen to that jackie!

  • That is Dennis Provisor on the B-3 Hammond organ. He's wearing the purple shirt and sings the bridge section of the song ("take away the rain from a flower...."

  • Great song! All of The Grass Roots' other songs are wonderful as well!

I wanna go back to 1971! I need a time machine!

If only music like this could still be made today...Shame regarding the lifeless "music" of today.

  • I've been a fan of The Grass Roots for 40t years & I can never get enough of them. I've been blessed to have all their albums & been able to attend quite a few concerts. I love them all but Rob really got my heart racing. He had such an amazing voice, beautiful eyes, smile & hair. I never liked moustaches til his but that changed in a hurry. My husband resembles Rob except the hair is shorter now & but he can't sing a lick but I love him anyway. Thanks for keeping them in the public eye, Rhonda

  • @ran6658 I too have been a huge fan of the GrassRoots for-forever it seems!! Gosh-brings back such memories!! I too also had a HUGE crush on Rob!! He was so handsome-damn-I had great taste--even when I was just a teeniebopper!!! Still think he looks awesome here--love his look!!!Still have my photo book with articles from Tiger Beat, 16, etc!! Even made a lampshade from all photo cutouts--dont know what happen to that!!LOL!!!! Good memories, GREAT music!!!

  • This was their last big hit and defenitely one of their best. We'll never have another era of music like this.

  • Comment removed

  • Babyyyyy!!! You are gorgeous!!

  • thats my pops and he still has the same soul he had back in the day.

  • @provisorJR awwwww tell him we love them and always will!!

  • Played this song a million times as a kid...its still very cool!!!!!!

  • 2 don't like this song ok, 2 divided by taste.

  • That would be Dennis Provisor. He actually has his own band now they are caled "The Hits." You can find them on Youtube. No one has a voice like Rob Grill!! He still sounds great!!

  • Pretty certain that Joel Larson (previously with the Merry-Go-Round of "Live" fame and later with Lee Michaels) and Virgil Weber (who also played with Climax of "Precious and Few" fame) were in the group around this time.

  • where is creed

  • @cmakos14: Creed left the group in mid-1969, replaced by Denny Provisor.

  • these guys were fabulous

  • These guys Rock!!!! :)

  • no eric carmen never played with them

  • grande banda as musicas são muito boas

  • the keyboard player looks like eric carmen of the raspberries? anyone know

  • @captainbeyond51 Dennis Provisor

  • @captainbeyond51 not him.

  • @captainbeyond51 the only thing not to like about this video is the thin audio,

and obviously that couldn't be helped, you can olnly remaster the original quality so much.

  • @captainbeyond51 he is Dennis Provisor, still performing in his own group. WHen you see these videos, they are lip sinc, the actual recordings were done with brass instruments backing them up.

  • @captainbeyond51

    It's not Eric Carmen.......

  • @captainbeyond51 he does look like Eric Carmen !!, but he doesnt sound like him

  • These guys were ALWAYS stoned, which is cool!

  • The ultimate line-up of one of the best groups from the 70's! Loved Rob Grill!

  • Yet another great song co-written by Brian Potter and Dennis Lambert!

  • Yeah, the original version of this show sounds different. Dennis' Part sounds way better in the live version than in this one...

I have seen the high quality video and there Rob appears a little absent-minded. But he looks cute anyway ;) ...

  • "Loneliness is no one's friend, and I've been taken the same kind of ride..." I used to listen to this at night on a transitor radio back in 1971. One of my favorites from back then, but only now I understand the lyrics.

  • Good Lord - it was scary to just think about how long ago this was my favorite song, for a while! YIKES!

  • When Rob Grill smiles my heart stands still and I cant breathe anymore ... he had an unimaginably beautiful face ... I have never seen before what I see in his appearance during late 60ies ... He was so beautiful ... Even with this horrible hairstyle and the mustaches ... All the time I cant believe what I see. I am watching midnight confessions over and over again just to see his face ... wow, just wow ...

Absolutamente buenasos.

  • What a great song, from a great band. See you on April 30 in Indiana Rob!!

  • ....loneliness is no one's friend....I've been taking the same kind of ride....Two divided by Love....and one is a lonely number!!!!

  • @jammg5 "Two divided by Love, can only be one.. ....and one is a lonely number"... and don't ferget... ONE, is the LONELIEST number you'll ever do...

Two... can be as sad as one, it's the loneliest number since the number one...

In a previous lifetime, I reminded Issac Newton of this... he told to go get lost.

  • @DiscoKat : The booklet for Rhino's Grass Roots Anthology CD says that it was Reggie Knighton who was in the group.

  • Sorry, correction to my last post:

BRIAN Naughton. I always get Reggie Knighton and Brian Naughton confused.

  • This had to have been filmed sometime in 1971 when Rick Coonce was still in the band. Although we never get a clear shot, his afro is visible. Rob Grill on lead & bass, Warren Entner on acoustic, Dennis Provisor on Keyboards and Reggie Naughton on lead guitar. He was only in the band for a very short time in 1971, visible in the photo on the back of the 16 Greatest Hits LP.

Yes, this video is definitely dubbed. And nobody named "Wayne" was ever in the Grass Roots.

  • @DiscoKat Whenever I have a Grass Roots question,It's obvious to me that your the cat I'm going to.

  • 3/26---just got back from seeing Rob and the Grass Roots. Excellent show. Rob is walking a little slower, but WOW, he still rocks! His voice is still awesome......Love Ya Rob----from Wilkes-Barre,Pa

  • these guys were monsters of the midway.

i remember the tilt a whirl and other fair rides in the day, playing these kinds of great songs.

    thanks you tube.

    jctoronto

  • These guys were the cat's ass!

  • This song reminds me of roller skating on a saturday afternoon in the winter.

  • I started listening to music about the time this was out. The beginning of my time, towards the end of their run, sadly.

  • Jessesgirl, I am glad you get to see them....they have been in my area like one time when I got to see them but, haven't been back to the Cincinnati/ Indiana border. Hoping they will see this and come back to our area. WE all want to see them around here. LOVE Rob and the band. Glad you are getting to see them again!

  • Rob really rocks!! We saw him in Mansfield and we will be seeing him in April in Indiana!! Whoohoo!!

  • Saw them 2 weeks back in Mansfield.Good show, but Rob is slowin down some.Continued success guys!

  • leftlane, i think the Kenny show required you to sing live. Was it maybe "Rollin'" . With the 1st edition now serving as a back-up?

  • anybody know why the clear version of this can't be posted?

  • We are going to The Grass Roots concert in April in Indiana! Whoohoo!!!!

  • Jessegirl: Thanks for the info --- got curious so looked them up and they will be in my area also. I loved seeing them when I was already grown up in the 80s. Guess who else is on the road? HERMAN's HERMITS, yay!!! And Peter Noone has not aged NOT ONE single bit.

  • Creed you rock I love this song :)

  • Happy Birthday Rob....Nov 30th !!!!! Have a GREAT day !!!!!!

  • Jessegirl,

I hope you go and have a GREAT time!!! Try and video them and show us on here. I would love that !!!! Have FUN as I know you will !!!!!! I will be eating my heart out !! But, I hope to see him again myself... soon. TC

  • Hi Leftlane! The Grass Roots are coming to Ohio in January! You know that I am going to be there!! COOL!! LOVE EM'

  • Have FUN!!!!!

  • These songs remind of all the girls I had crushes on back in the 70's. These guy were and still are talented. This song in was my favorite.

  • ...because these back in the day these guys fell into the category of the David Cassidys, ie., top 40 bubblegum. But the difference is this group was bursting with talent which is why their music stands up today. Arguably the greatest American band of all time... that's right!

  • I just saw the Grass Roots yesterday in Rising Sun, Indiana. They were GREAT!!!! Rob still sings very well. Looks very good too!!! He signed my CD and got in some pictures with me. VERY nice person. He seems very down to earth. Love you Rob and Grass Roots

  • I just saw that. I will be there. I am in Versailles. Saw Temptaions at Grand Vic, already got my Little Richard tickets, for mid Sept. Can't wait for the N.B. Festival in Oct. Love the old groups.

  • The Grass Roots are coming here on 10/10 to Rising Sun, Indiana ....we are going to be there! Love to see you perform Rob!!! Hope everyone who lives in the area can go!!! I am sure it will be GREAT!!

  • What a beautiful song. I really love this video. Rob has that awesome smile and those eyes!! Whoohoo!! He still has a great voice and that awesome smile. We love you Rob!

  • This is a video clip from Rollin' On the River (later called Rollin) TV series hosted by Kenny Rogers and The First Edition between 1971 - 1973.

The 52 episodes were filmed in Toronto, Canada. Rollin' was among the most watched syndicated shows in Canada and the USA

The First Edition became the first pop rock group to host their own prime time TV series in the USA.

    Thanks for sharing

  • What a great band...and Rob Grill has is still just has handsome as he is here.

  • I see why I married my husband, he use to look just like this singer, Rob Grill. I just wished he could have only sang this good. Great Group! One of the very best bands around back then.

  • He is so cute! You're lucky...*drewl* My husband looked like Bozo the clown =(

  • Problem with that is every woman wanted him. I had to tell them ahead of time "keep your hands off MY man." It was so funny....we just laugh about it now. Been married for 26 years this coming Feb.

  • hahahahaaha, I feel for ya ;)

  • the singer is cute!

  • @daymude63 yes very good looking...had crush on him as young girl..

  • wow blast from the past

  • What a voice!! The Grass Roots are awesome!! That's right you sing it Rob!!

    The Grass Roots rock!

  • Sing to me, Rob!!!!!!

  • I was 16 when this song was popular and it was one of my fav songs ever. I could listen to the Grass Roots all day!

  • Great band with clean lyrics. Not like today's (cough-cough) music.

  • Great tune - the dub was easy to determine, unless, of course, you can find the horn section in the video. Thanks for posting anyway.

  • Hmm..this is from 72' & dennis is on keyboard however on temptation eyes (later) or another song, I forget..another guy with a great voice is on keyboards & I don't even see dennis in the band. However, on another video..dennis is back on keyboard & the guy mentioned above is no where to be seen...Clue me in anyone?

  • Wayne was on the keyboards in the early days but switched to gutair when Dennis joined the group in the early 70's. He is the one with the beard in the video between Rob and Dennis.

  • thanks for the info....

  • You mean Warren Entner.

  • @leftlane57 I think you mean "Warren" was on the keyboards in the early days.

  • That's actually Warren Entner, who sang the middle 8 of Midnight Confessions and the 1-2-3-4 count-in to the chorus of Let's Live for Today.

  • @leftlane57 No his name is not wayne It is Warren Entner. He played keyboard before dennis joined. Then went to gutair.

  • @leftlane57 That is Warren Entner between Rob Grill and Dennis Provisor..The Grass Roots were my fave band back then!!! Their music still holds up really well--gee-I had great tast, even back then!!!LOL!!!

  • @leftlane57 hi, actually, that's warren between them....i've been a huge fan all my life...lol...

  • @prokip901 all i know is that i know dennis now.... i take lessons from him.......also he was not in the band from 1972 till 1974.

  • They sure did lip sync this to the original, because when I sync the original recording that I have to this video the lips correspond perfectly except for the key boarder Dennis Provisor.

  • I just saw my first Grass Roots concert on Friday! One word, "FANTASTIC" I can't wait to see them again!

  • Temptation Eyes and this were quite a 'one-two punch' in 1971. Good group, used to be the '13th Floor' when PF Sloan and Steve Barri recruited them to perform their songs in the mid 60's.

  • They are going to be in Metairie , LA at the Family Gras concert with Davy Jones and Sheena Easton on FEB 15 starting at 11 00am in the morning for the first weekend of Mardi Gras.

  • Thanks For The Info. I Live In That Area.

  • Your welcome neighbor.

  • I have been trying to find recent pics of warren entner. Dead end streeet. ANyone know where I can find them? I would like to see what he looks like today

  • Hey, me, too! I had such a crush on him back then! I have also been searching for their "Feelings" album. Any suggestions?

  • some a@s w*pe keeps deleting the version thats not dubbed "copy right" b.s.

  • DO NOT CURSE ON YOUTUBE THANKS

  • Nice thought, but you're dreamin.

  • Wow this bring back memories my neice told me the other day if you can remember this song when you poot nutin comes out but dust what did I do with that dust pan lol

  • Dennis Has Such A Powerful Voice. Love It.

  • It was a shame he didn't sing more lead back then.

  • Rob is sooo boy pretty! Oh Yeah!

  • Amazing!!! I can never get enough of them. I've been a fan since 1969 and counting. Can't wait to see them again!

  • My father loves this band so much tho i don't think he ever when to there shows. My mom loves this song.

  • Rob is suppose to be joining the group on tour again in Feb. 2009. I am really excited to finally see him in March!! My first Grass Roots concert. It will be worth the 4 hour drive to get there!!

  • I have fund out that Rob is suppose to join his group in Feb. That means I will get to finally see them in MARCH!!

  • where the bleepety-bleep is the "two divided by love" video without the overdubbing?

  • I had word that Rob had a setback from his knee surgery last July. Hopefully, he will be able to play by Feb. Let's all hope he's recovered enough to play for his fans...who loves so dearly. Just give him a thumbs up..okee? xoxoxo

  • Cool band and some great songs. Sooner or later is my favorite.

  • jate 2002 Rob is going to be back with the band in February! I am not sure if he has had the knew surgery yet. I have tickets to the concert in March! Rob should be with the group. I am so excited.

  • jessesgirl1956, Has anyone heard how Rob is doing. I know he had a really bad year. Lots of medical problems. I love The Grass Roots, hope to get to see them one day. Keep on rocking guys, your great.

  • Why is it that some of these guys look so different from the guys in the MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS video? Please tell me that my eyes are playing tricks on me.

  • they changed members around throughout the course of the bands existence.

if you check out their wikipedia page, they've got a list of all the members and what years they played in the band and all that jazz.

  • Dennis Provisor plays in a band called "The Hits" They sound pretty good!

  • Dennis Provisor was amazing. Didn't get near the credit he deserved. The man could sing.

  • Love the Grass Roots, love Rob. I watch this video often. They were and still are one of my favorite groups. Miss the
