Ireland is the most beautiful country in the world.I dream to visit Ireland, but it is impossible.Ireland so very, very far from my country....Beautiful video, beautiful song.
Sally Gardens refers to the willows on the outskirts of villages to fasten thatching on their roofs. Young lovers used to meet there. At least my grandma said something along those lines. I've known this song since I was little. It's so pretty. I tried to get my High School Choir teacher to let us sing it, but I guess it wasn't her taste or something.
I remember playing this song on the recorder in grade 4... Our music teacher later died... I played the clarinet while my teachers daughter sang... It was beautiful <3

I'm from Argentina.. but Irish music, culture, history, Ireland in a whole has always made me feel like in a fairy tale.. In fact one of my biggest wishes is to settle myself on Ireland (hope that in a near future) It's absolutely fantastic!
We sang this in 5th grade chorus... Ohh the memories. I wish I could go back 3 years and repeat that year. I missed it and loved that school. This song is AMAZING.
i may not be irish... but im in love with ireland and it's beauty, would love to visit someday, would probably be singing this song/poem most my time there! ^w^

Lovely tune, just what i would expect from Irish Celtic Folk tunes, this is why i have such a varied collection of tunes, one's for relaxing, and others when i am upset in anyways, helps to calm the spirit within.
no u stupit fuck we did not take all the cleaning jobs in ireland we took ever job in ireland from top 2 bottom & have used ur women as whores as they keep trowing them selves at us no matter how bad we treat them, irish women are very stupit & the biggest whores on the planet..if u dont believe me ask the irish men they have no jobs & no women we have taking everything..what a weak bunch of tramps the irish people are! God bless poland & the polish people!!
my mother's was irish, and her name was Sally, (RIP) , when i asked her what sally in sally gardens meant , she told me that there were a lot of willow trees ,latin name SALLIX, in the gardens, and when the gardeners were asked , they would reply ," ah
thats the lovely sallies " so that's how the gardens got their name
@relimes Being a divil, or getting up to divilment, is being mischievous. It may well have originated from people pronouncing 'devil' incorrectly, but it has its own meaning now :).
I stumbled on your video while watching Irish Tin Whistle versions. As a Professional Photographer, I was blown away. As a tin whistle and bodhran player, your skills as a vocalist brought a tear to my eye. Outstanding!!! I wish we had views like that here in the States!!!
I love Irish songs, really peaceful.. I love Irish even thought I'm not from there.. Irish songs are really perfect. Like there is my life in it. Like I'm living in a world with songs about me and others! And of course this song for everyone!! <3
years and years ago the irish wer treated very bad the same kind of rasism towards black people. oh and im irish and this song is not a great song to repersent the irish. i like in a castle like building out in the country and i wouldnt change a thing..
I have great memories of the song. Cherril Slater, Tricia Woodcock and I sang it as the theme tune for the Dark Lady of the Sonnets, at Hinde House School in Sheffield, in about 1971. It was so beautifully sickly sweet with my harmony, that the school asked us to sing at School Speech Day, which I'm proud to say was held at Sheffield City Hall - I can therefore say I have performed on the same stage as The Beatles (but not necessarily at the same time)
I must sound like a weeny, but I nearly cried listening to this.... Such a beutiful song... I wish I could go to the land of my father's... This west US-bound middle-class kid will hafta stick with pictures...

Often would have loved to know what Yeats would have thought of how a simple 2 verse poem which he first called "An old song re-sung" could have develope into this.
Me great gran da passed away about 5 years ago at 108 he came over from ireland as a wee child before he passed he asked us to take his ashes and spread them in the irish sea shore took us about a year to get permission from the irish government but now he is forever in his home land.
My great grandfather came here in 1900. His brothers followed in April of 1912 but never reached our shore. A week later my grandmother was born. Once, in 1956 he went back for a visit, just that once. My grandmother visited Ireland a couple of times. My mother wanted to go but died before she could. I think we left something behind. Uncles lost to the deep never to grow old. I think we left something behind.
