Having driven both, I have a problem with the rocking tendency of the skid's when maneuvering and stopping and stopping etc... "That's because your don't know how to drive them" (Figured I'd make the stupid uninformed comment before the idiot does)
Abusly a skidsteer but has to be gehk we run one on our farm foot throttle and all controls on the levers. To se please veiw HOW TO DRIVE A GEHL SKIDSTEER.
We run all case machines love the way they run and lift i think foot throttle is better you can control the throttle you need without moving your hands off the controls you can set it with a hand control to.
The skid steer is using CAT controls. Seems to be set up the exactly the same as CAT skid steer, track loaders, and blades. I personally prefer the standard controls. Foot throttle is a waste on any skid steer. Debris builds up inside the mechanism and make the throttle stick. I use skid steers daily building highways in Toronto.
Cat controls are way better much less fatigue and if debris builds up under the throttle are you saying you never have that problem with the "Bobcat" set up? Anyone is anything suck to your boots have to clean that crap out pretty regular. Besides why run a machine wide open all the time and burn a lot more fuel? I often run the throttle a little less than half way and hit the foot throttle when I need the extra juice. Seriously, CAT controls are the way to go!
@d57702 I don't usually run any skidsteer with any type of foot controls. I prefer Case machines personally. The machines we run are always on full throttle, because it is necessary for the type of work we're doing. Plenty of heavy loads.
what if you have a height problem, if you have the room a pay loader is way nicer, but if you don't then a skid steer is good to, (i drive both) one thing you miss with a skid steer is the reach that a loader does have, this sucks when stock pilling anything. but the skid steer can be more power full (we have a ls 190) when compared to a loader that needs the same amount of space. but they are 2 different machines intended for 2 different jobs
@gabinmtkalive Yeah really, what the fuck is your problem? I thought the comment was funny, and would be an easy solution to deciding which one is better! Get the humor and dont make stupid comments.
Pivot steer is the best, way better to handle, and drive when loading things on trailers and so on. I tried both amny times,a WeideMann 1070 and a Bobcat 753, and the Bobcat, and the Bobcat is way longer to steer proberbly when loading things on trailers, trucks ex. I would allways choose a pivot steer. :)

There are advantages and disadvantages of both. Personally, I'd choose a skid steer. I think you can get more productivity from it.

@poppaschlong2000 only a bad operator would let debris build up around a pedal.

the pivot steer is much better because 1. its got more hp 2. the tires last much longer 3. the hydraulic is much stronger

lol.... why call it a pivot steer. Its easier to call it a "loader" because that what it is a mini front end loader.
