  • DARK LICH IS EASY?

Yeah if you use Lucent beam at level 8 but c'mon who leveled up lucent beam to 8?!?!?!?!

  • so, He/She/It still alive?

  • I'm glad I've seen this. XD I'll never beat the Mana Beast, so this is the only way it's gonna happen. XD

  • I played it with my 2 brothers, I was 8 and i cried so much at the end !!

  • BTW, those ppl that speak mana like "manner" are a joke, i once played a game where ur servant allways said "i have no mana" and i never understood that, i allways tought he is saying "i have no manners" XD

I like how the guy in the video pronounces it PERFECTLY CORRECT, and like over 9000 ppl are crying about that its wrong :P

  • The sprite survived the end. Its not his ghost or spirit in the tree, they have no shadows. Ghosts and spirits are magic, and since the dragon is dead, there is no magic anymore. Just because something was made from magic, doesnt mean it disappears with the magic. I know that the sprite said they would disappear, but remember, the first thing the sprite did in the game? He lied :P There are a lot reasons why he could lie, or think that he would die. NOW BOW TO MY LOGIC!!!!!
  • You know the Sprite didn't die....there is another ending

  • Defender + Lunar Boost = take no damage, deal 999 every regular attack. Charging the sword takes too long

  • This game rocks but because the US/UK version was rushed alot of the translation of the story from Japanese didn't happen. When you watch the ending doesn't it feel that the narrative is somewhat missing?

  • just got to the end of this game, thought I'd give it a shot because I heard so much hype about how aesome the story and everything was buuuuut....the story actually sucks ...and the end sucks to, the only thing I liked was the music and the gameplay :p which made it worth the experience

  • @GamingLeeLee

Its like playing Super Mario 1 after a session of Super Mario Galaxy and then going for

    "Super Mario 1 " totally suckssssss!!!11

    Youre doing it wrong ,bro.

  • @shurednichso no its more along the lines of just not liking the games story as much as everyone else...

  • I remember hating that midget. What the hell was that thing?

  • OMG they killed Lenny !

  • @bartosx YOU BASTARDS

  • Yay Popoie

  • when you think about it the end of this game was ... extremly sad. While you the Hero survived going trough all kinds of hard battles and saved the world you loost 2 good friends, with the Kobold and Dragon while the Princes loost Dyluk. Though still one of the best end in a games I remember.

  • #LOL Popoi go stuck in a tree. XD

  • Battle toad!!!!! That game was the shit!

  • 5:22 reminds me of totoro

  • While the mana sword is the BEST weapon to destroy the mana beast, it isn't the only option as suggested in the video. The first time I played I didn't know how to awaken the mana sword and simply attacked/defended with all magic types. It took a while and a lot of items but I did succeed. The second time through I figured out how to unlock the mana sword and I defeated the mana beast much quicker.

  • you don't have to charge the attack to deliver the same amount of damage to the mana beast....

  • der mana drache is bissl langweilig, weil nur das manaschwert ihm beef geben kann :D:D

  • FUCK CLINTON

  • wish they would remake this game :(

  • @Magekingas the sprite IS DEAD, you just see it's spirit/ghost watching over the land/his ppl. So yes, it's a sad ending.

  • at 5:13 it's hard to see. but the sprite should be standing there in spirit form watching over his land/ppl etc, also I discovered (rather my 2 year old niece) that if you have 2 SNES controllers plugged into the SNES you can have a friend play one of the other characters.

  • awesome game! to save mana you could use the mini-size mallet during an attack. you won't take dammage during the change.

  • wait, flammie was the final boss?

  • @kirbzftw no, it was the mana beast, it just looks kinda simular.

  • thanks for this game

  • Battle a FANCY DRESS skeleton........... what a lame description for the lich guy.

  • verry sad ending :(

  • OHHH THEY KILLED LENNY!...YOU BASTARDS!

  • Its not pronounced Mah-nah. Its pronounced Man-uh. The Mana Series is my favorite, and I can't believe so many people mispronounce it.

  • @Arktierus fuck you

  • @Zac6230 Whats your problem?

  • @Arktierus wrong person nevermind

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @Arktierus Actually, it's pronounced, "monna". I think. Unless it's pronounced Man-uh, in which case it's pronounced Manah. However it's pronounced, it's awesome.

  • I love the game but I don´t like the ending...

  • I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!! *____________*

  • the first time i reached the mana-dragon, i was oom ^^

  • why does the narrorator say "mana" like that?

  • @mdogmilhouse91 that's just how it's pronounced, although some like to pronounce it "man-uh" instead of "mahnah"

  • @mdogmilhouse91 It's how it's actually pronounced.

  • is this jim carrey's voice?

  • you know its easier and Mp cheaper to cast a shield on your team when the mana beast attacks yes?

  • What is the NES Song in the introduction for Clinton?

  • @akogi1987

It's from an NES game called Shadow Gate.

  • why didnt u have the special effects on the magic, like the maximum level

  • I cried, This was such a sad ending, same as how Lufia ended, also made me cry :(.

  • I don't think that the finnal boss is so hard :/ This video is sooo lovley many memorys<3

  • Best game ever on the Super Nintendo!!! It is a shame they don't make games like this anymore!

  • mmm i espected a better ending, nos just pics

  • ^^ funny...he... *g* i´m german, and for me this one was a girl (now i am totally confused about my feelings for this tiny red head girl when i was 10 years old...knowing for some people this one was a boy ^^ ) na...for me it will always be a girl...i mean she was printed in the secret of mana book...and THAT "thing" was not a girl...don´t know if it was printed in us in the same way ^^

  • Pro Tip - Cast Lunar Boost and Moon Muscle on the Hero, and his regular attacks will deal 999 with the Mana Sword, thus, removing the need to charge your sword. You can beat him in 2 passes this way.. Also. when he spirals toward you, cast remedy on all 3 players to negate taking damage... man, i know this game far too well, im pretty sure i am the greatest... <3 Love it

  • @sephrinx Considering you got the name of "Moon Energy" wrong, I wouldn't say you're the best, nor do you know the game all that well.

  • @AceAileron First off, I didn't say anything about Moon Magic to be cast. All that it does is invoke the power of the Sword of Mana. I said specifically, Lunar Boost and Moon Muscle. Not Moon Magic. Second. I am the greatest. And I know what I am talking about, and I know this game better than anyone. I am the GREATEST EVAR!!!11!!one!!! So you can go ahead and try to pick at whatever it is you might get your jollies from. Please, go ahead.

  • yes sir any adult woman that likes secret of mana can message me.. yes sir.... once i mean...

  • JAPANESE GAME

  • In 5:13 the black spot is the shadow of the Sprite.

In the SNES version you can see him(or her, deppending of your version of game) in a translucid form like a ghost. And She (or He =P) dissapear (when the shadow goes too) and you see the last image.

I don't understand why the sprite dont appears on this video, maybe is a emulator?

  • @UrashimaHauro Yeah, Hes a He, Once you talk to his grandfather where you get Sylphid, he asks if the Princess is his Girlfriend! And he disappeared becuase Sprites are creatures of mana, and the mana beast was all that was left of it and once it was destroyed, so was he. Sadly..

  • Omg, it's much too complicated...no need to load the Mana-Blade ;)

  • Actually the little Sprite is a chick...

  • actually, in the original japanese version it has no gender, in the u.s. version it's a guy and in the european version it's a chick

  • so what happens to the lil oranged hair guy? does he die?

  • if I remember correctly, once they kill the mana beast all the magic in the world goes back to the 'world of mana'. he isn't dead he just went home

  • @rogeruhler Technically his home was the Upper Lands, where he came from and where his village was reduced to shambles by the Mana Beast, but other than that it doesnt delve into much detail about his past...

  • The wasting the girls magic on the Dark Lich is well pointless. The sprites magic is just as good and it is cheaper mp wise. Im able to do the entire fortress with out using any items sprites magic is easy regain-able after most of the bosses so use his :)

  • THE FANCY DRESSED SKELETON HAS A NAME, Dark Lich!, aka thanatos?! Lord of the underworld and Psi vamp!

  • As for my names I usually either named the main character Troy or Renix, the girl ABC or Amanda, and the sprite Mike/Eric or renix if the main wasent named it. the sprite was always named after my best friend at the point in my life. and the girl was named ABC cause it felt right, and amanda after a girl who liked me when I was little.

  • your pronunciation of mana pisses me off

  • I still remember what I called my characters:

Jahez, Oprah and Mother. I was a strange child.

    Still... What a game.

  • It's weird seeing different names for them... I always named them Stupid, SIlly and Thick. xD Yeah, I'm weird.

  • im a true lover of this game and not very common to know a girl posting on secret of mana if you ever want a friend on msn for sharing gaming moments let me know!

  • uhm noob? the mana fortress is easy with the equipment that they drop inside and the mana beast(mana dragon!) is one of the easyest bosses even with lvl 50 (my current lvl at tasnica)

  • Am I the only person who pronounced it "Man-uh"?

  • no.

  • @Renix4

    Hell yeah! It's MAN-UH, not MON-UH.

    And it's not PAL-UH-DIN, but PUH-LAD-IN.

    Opinion only.

  • wait was the mana dragon flammie!

  • this game was sooo epic i can remember it well when i completed it two player with my brother.

  • in the garman version is not the 2 girl there are the boy and the girl and holding hans^^

  • I stick to the Idea, that 'Lenny' was a girl.. jesus.. a boy??^^

  • Did you know, that "Lenny" is a girl in germany and without Gender in Japan?^^

  • I just named it Sprite and thats it. Much easier this way.

  • this game fu*kin rules. i still remember gaming in the clinton years, i was like fu*kin 6 when i played various SNES GaMES. its my favorite console, because of the fun it gave. i still remember playing Doom and Contra III. FF 3 (6 IN JAPAN) and a whole bunch other games.

  • yes pal, clinton gaming years were the best

  • you mean,snes,genesis,ps1 & n64 rule!!!

    also,the nes & ps2 should also be included.best consoles ever,by far.

  • @antagony69 same bro. I remember gaming in the clinton years as well. Snes fuking ruled.

  • @antagony69 I agree man. It is heartbreaking so see amazing 3d graphics set the standards today. If they released a new game that was very similar to this, I would rather pay £40 for it than some of the shit that comes out now. This is one of those games that cleverly gets you engrossed in its exploration and adventure, as well as the stats and power ups, without needing to fall back on realistic 3d visuals (not that they were around at the time). It is easily one of my favourite games ever.

  • Wow did they ever level their characters more than they needed. Also play with friends -- thats what made this game SUPER AWESOME.

  • this was my favourite game of all time soooo cool to see the ending after 5 years....made it all the way to the end but gave up....thanks., that made my day

  • i never finished the game, coz i just borrowed it, but i always thought that this little dwarfish-guy was killed in the end. but he sat on the tree in the ending screen, so he s still alive ? now wtf???

  • He faded. He's kind of a ghost/spirit at the end.

  • ghosts have SHADOWS? ^__^

well, its just a game and there aint even a sequel that would make this relevant. so, who cares? ^^

  • so why cant they cast reviver?

  • According to the story, sprites are magical creatures that can only survive in worlds filled with mana.

Since the mana tree was destroyed, he should have already been dead since the manatree is the source of mana. But the fortess stored so much mana he could still stay alive. With the destruction of the mana fortress AND the death of the mana beast, mana was finally completely gone. And so was he.

  • not at all mana isnt gone and it is said that the mana tree is the mother of the mana knight not more the tree itselfe doesnt even have power in it (tantalus blocked every mana seed's power in the original game's (this one may be an good but not the original) u see that mana seed's are way more powerfull than the tree itselfe)

  • Might be might be but the seeds have sealed mana. In the later games of the secret of mana series, the mana tree actualy creates manaseeds disguised as humans (or a fary in som2). The rythm is always kind of the same: The mana tree feels endangered and produced at least one seed. No one knows who and what the mana seed is until almost the very end. The mana tree dies, the agressor gets defeated and then the mana seed starts to transfrom and sprout. As long as the seed is small, theres no mana

  • It's pretty difficult to explain: Popoi simply "disappears" from the reality in which Randy e Purim. He re-appear in the spiritual reality of Mana in which he belongs.

Oh BTW when Mana Beast attacks you can use Midge Mallet in order to avoid any kind of hit!

  • I always sorta felt that SoM's ending was weak, but the final screen really broke my heart for some reason. I remember sitting there for about five minutes just staring at it...

  • he justs...speeds through it xD.

  • You fucking idiots!!! You shortened the ending and cut out "Second Truth from the Left", one of the best songs in the game. It what makes the ending so great. F-ing Losers!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • love the ending.

it's very sad, that the sprite dies...

but Flammie also dies and the Mana Fortress crashes into the great sea...

  • Without the Mana Beast, magic cannot exist. Without magic, a sprite dies.

It's so sad how both the girl and the guy you play lost someone they cared about very much in the end...

  • oh, i remember! i have completed this ^^

was a little disappointed with the ending

  • HAHAHA dramatic music and then....

    LENNY!

  • the sprite sits in the tree at the end....

  • Wonder what if the sprite died at the end or whatever happened to it?

  • Amazing game. Will never forget.

  • This is Sad.....I wish somehow the sprites could've came back. But this game is one of the greatest ever

  • did the sprite die or something?

  • I believe so, it died along with the mana beast and went to some different dimension or something.

  • i remember i named my sprite cujo without knowing anything about that name. and then later i became a stephen king fan and i was floored. anyway, that ending is a cute shot of cujo, er the sprite in the trees. reminds me a little of totoro sitting in the big tree playing his instrument.

  • in the battle against the mana beast you dont need any healing. i just used the hammer that makes you tiny . if you see the flames coming closer to you then use the hammer a moment ago befor they are hitting you. during the transformation that the hammer caused. you dont get any damage . with this trick this battle is one of the easiest in the complete game ;)

  • Mana it's called Mana! oh and magic wasn't a focus before? yea right..

  • What the fuck is 'Marna' as this guy pronounces it? Stupid yank.

  • Hahahhaha

    MARNAR

    LMAO

Sorry Yanks, but us Brits have got this pronounciation correctly. since it's spelt the way it is pronounced eastern-phonetically... i.e like "MANNER".

But on the real, this was a f^#$%@#ing kick ass game. Better than Zelda, and better than the stupid Lufia/FF7 RPG style where you don't even get to properly fight.

  • I feel sorry for the British if your claiming to be an example of their intelligence.

The announcer says Mana. (pronounced "Mon-na") which is how it would be pronounced do to the Nihonjyn way of saying vowels, i.e. a like in karate, e like ay, etc.

  • What Square should do now on the PS3 is keep the game play exactly the same, do a time travel game from Final Fantasy 1 on, and the villian has changed the history of the Final Fantasies, kind of like quantum Leap in a way.

  • When i was young i playd this game over and over again. Its truely epic. The most sad ending i know. It truely deserves the title 'Best adventure game of all time' given by the international videogame comunity :D

  • kool!
