  • my saab 93 v6 turbo kicks any golfs or bmw's arse!!!

  • God damn General Motors.

  • I recall reading an article where Erik Carlsson overturned a SAAB 96 on a rally stage, but the car still worked when put back onto its wheels. Ford tried the same trick by intentionally overturning an Escort to see if it would still work - they subsequently found out that, with the engine spewing oil and every panel ruined, it would no longer run!

  • akti bolajee? XD HAHAHA!

  • if it was stup enough xDDD Haha

  • "Roadhållning"

  • svenska äroplän acti boloyay? XD

  • ring ding ding ding ring ding ding pow

  • Loved the way he said "Aktie Bolag"

    Aktiee Boligiee :)

  • I friggin love these old Top Gear episodes!! They're very informative. Quentin is a great host too.

  • it was going and going.. it was going and going .. it wasa going and going

  • ring ding ding ding ding ring ding ding ding

  • I have two modern Saabs and I love them to bits especially the Aero 95 but I would love a 1950s or 60s Saab the shape is terrific

  • Svenska Aeroplan Akti Bologe....... lols :D

  • @tkaminsk

    What? Wrong.

The 9-5 was developed under GM's reign. Spyker ( JUST SPYKER ) bought saab long after the 9-5 was ready for production.

  • My car ; 300.000 km !!!

  • a sound that made you wet your pants, aparently even for the drivers.

  • Good driver, but did anyone else not understand a word he said?

  • The New saab 95 was Featured in topgear news jan 3 2010 An episode which was recorded in December of 2009. In the picture it looks exactly like the current car now on sale. It was actually supposed to have been released in 2009 but then the US Auto Industry Bailout put a spanner in the works for all foreign brand cars. Koenigsegg Pulled out of the saab deal long ago and the car was put on the market only weeks after the Spyker aquisition was finished. The car is crap anyhow.

  • @miserablerottensmurf which configuration of the 9-5 have you been driving?!? The 2.0T handles like a dream. Quiet, yet powerful. It comes with a very sophisticated AWD system and is probably the safest vehicle you can find on any road. Admittedly, the dashboard fascia is a bit boring (it was supposed to be nicer, but the subcontracter went bust), but as a driver you're not looking at that anyway. The 9-5 provides the driver with an extremely nice environment.

  • @bikedude74 Try the Alfa 159 that cockpit really is a nice place to be. I thougt saab used the Haldex 4 wheel drive system which actually is the most rudimentary one. (I used to work for a subcontractor of Haldex). The last good saab was the 900 from the 80's and so it will remain until they stop making them for americans. Compare the new 95 (Linear or Vector since the dealers don't let ju try the aero) to a merc E class Audi A5/6 BMW 5-6 series or even a skoda and you will find it to be crap

  • @miserablerottensmurf Saab use the fourth generation Haldex system (VW is apparently doing something similar with Haldex now for the next Audi Quattro). There's a nice wikipedia entry describing it. Saab's rear limited slip differential can transfer 85% of the engine's power to any of the rear wheels. I have tested the FWD Vector without DriveSense, and it was quite good. But my XWD Aero w/DriveSense is better. It eats sharp corners for breakfast.

  • @miserablerottensmurf

Have you ever tried the new 9-5?I did, and i also tried the 5-serie,the E-Klasse and the A6, and i do not unterstand how people can say this car is a crap.Germans cars are far too overrated, and they look sooo ugly and boring compared to this one .

  • i just learned that Saab is now owned by Spyker, dutch sport car company and the new 95 and aero is legit and properly built by proper engineers no GM :P

  • @alexgamer5555 I'm sorry to say. The new 95 was designed by GM and looks ok only from the outside. The inside looks like the knob rom my grandma's coffee pot and it also handles like the exxon valdez. The nex 93 will only be a facelift of the current one so it will take at leas half a decade before there is a euro design SAAB again but I strongly doubt it will be designed for any market any other tna the american. Saab has now turned profit for the first time ever though.

  • @miserablerottensmurf ...wrong the 95 was engineered from the ground up by Saab/Spyker/Koneigsiegg engineers in Rotterdam, Gotenburg and Oslo. Spyker and Koneigsiegg own Saab, and GM has refused to sell the frams that the GM Saab was built on. The car is 100% engineered in Europe. They gave it major facelift yes but it will be worth it. The 93 is slated for 2012 and will be completely reengineered. There is talk that a 97 is coming back for late 2012 as well that will be from Gotenburg SWE.

  • @tkaminsk I don't know where you get your info, but Koenigsegg has never owned any part of Saab. They were in the process of buying it outright, but backed out, and have had nothing to do with Saab design. The current 9-5 is still based on the GM platform; it was already almost completed when GM hit the skids. It was still "engineered in Europe" by Saab, using the GM platform. The upcoming 9-3 is indeed all new.

  • "Svenske Aeroplan Akti Bologe". Lol.

  • carlsson on the roof...

  • great vid.. thanks man..

  • Look at the cars today, like '10 9-5, 9-X/9-X Air, Aero-X, 9-4X, and 9-3 and compare those to the old Saab's, 92, 96 and so on. So cool to compare those cars. Long live Saab, and their loving owners! Btw, what is the significance of the 9? I can't find the answer anywhere.

  • @jrodigan5

About the "9" in Saab cars, prior to making the car Saab 92, they presented the single engine trainer aircraft Saab 91 (Safir) in november 1945. Next to follow was the car Saab 93, sportscar 94 (Sonett 1), station wagon 95, the 96, 97 (Sonett 2 & 3), 98 (combi coupé project) and 99. After that next car should have been called 100, but instead Saab took the 9 prefix as their signum and the car was named 900.

  • Ok, that makes since. And the 9-5 had was supposed to be a bigger number than the 9000, because that was car to replace the 9000, but 90,000 didn't sound good so the 9-5 is actually 9^5 which equals 59,049 which is bigger than 9000 to signify that it was the replacement . That's what I heard, but the story isn't the same for the 9-3.

  • SAAB makes good plane but it makes good cars also powerful hardcore and fun to drive

  • #el6milonguero

Actually SAAB started with dive bomber planes SAAB 17 and SAAB 18. The JAS39 Griffin, JA37 Thunderbolt and the JA35 Dragon, JA29 "The Barrel" and so on is Attack and Recognizance...

  • The JAS is "jakt, attack, spaning" which in swedish means "hunt - attack - recognizance".

SAAB's jets have always been called different abbreviations depending on their task. JA is for Hunt and Attack, AS would be Attack and recognizance etc.

  • Is it just me, or is that one very awesome sounding engine?

  • I really wish they stayed this goofy, damn you GM!

  • @afgr173 Yeah.. the yanks really fucked up SAAB. From here it can only get better.

  • @afgr173

And now they´re broke! Love answering an old comment with recent news. Feels like i´m talking to the past :o

  • subaru made planes too

  • So did BMW

  • BMW made Airplane Engines and still do today. Not airplanes.

  • yeah but subaru is for tools, not enthusiasts....

  • Well fuji heavy industries, which makes subaru, makes planes.

  • saab now is broke

  • hahha Swenglish

  • word xP

  • I never knew this: SAABSvenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget

  • that 92 sounds awesome

  • I want that bomber badge on my saab...so sick.

  • Well, SAAB never made any bombers. Only small aircrafts. Serach for SAAB JAS 39 Gripen, JA 37 Viggen ... 35 Draken ... The 36 was intended to be an atomic bomber but we swedes decided to not produce nuclear weapons even though we knew how.

  • new 900s ? they dont make 900 anymore you idiot

  • There we are, typical Top Gear, doesn't even mention that the 99 Turbo was the first turbo car to win a world rally (1979 Sweden). Judging by the M-plate New 900 SE Turbo this is 1995.

'97 New 900's and Peugeot 306 D Turbos are the best used cars you can get for a bargain.

  • haha svengelska

  • going going going going and going and going and going
