  • The caterwailing women spoil the soundscape

  • this choir should win nobel prizes, obies, peabodys, and pulitzers!!!!!!

  • Excellent performing !

  • Over the top facial expressions: ridiculous! Fantastic singing, though.

  • Hello,

Very nice performance. I am doing an assignment for school and I am wondering this: Is this the original accompaniment required? I am assuming it is but I thought I would check. Thank you!

  • actually, I believe there are solosits (singing together though) for the verses. the first is bass and coutnertenor

  • Hopefully i can go to clare college cambridge..... fingers crossed

  • Saw this choir on PBS about a year ago and have loved loved them ever since!

  • By far the best version on YT. Thank you, a real treat.

  • Reading the score brings tears to my eyes...Listening more so. Very nice

  • the bass soloist looks like draco malfoy :D

  • Soloist? There is no soloist in this work...

  • Is that in Jesus College Chapel?

  • Yurp.

  • Henry Purcell knew how to write beautiful music, in a country not known for great composers in great numbers. I think the reason school choirs are disappearing is the "No Child Left Behind" act, and the lack of funding. Perhaps selling CDs of the school's choirs, bands, and orchestras could raise enough money to keep the music program going. Perhaps posting the choir's performance on iTunes or the school's website would work.

  • This one of the most sublime things I have ever heard.

  • GRAN COMPOSITOR

  • That soprano with the short, blonde hair, Angharad Gruffydd Jones, is superb! WOOH!

  • doesn't look bad:P

  • AGREED!

  • He's pretty sexy...

  • gary barlow lookalike lol

  • so beautiful, Purcell...thanks a lot

    L.

  • wonderful... amazingly wonderful... thank you so so much...

  • Now this is REAL music!

  • Too bad it only has 4,584 views. Its a shame that mindless videos are picked over this.

  • Agreed. We have a major problem in this country over "dumbing down" and playing to the "Lowest Common Denominator."

Due to thses and other factors, such as the decline in church and school choirs, we are also in danger of loosing our supurb choral tradition that has been built up over several hundred years.

  • wonderful!
