I'm trying to do a lot of music production. I'm thinking of getting the 15" for the bigger screen to make the visuals of the production easier on the eye, but would you recommend the 15" or 13"?....is the 15" worth the money as far as speed is concerned?
@2113finalcut Yeah, I think you'll be happier with the 15 inch due to it's larger form factor and screen, and it's significantly harder punch in the way of performance!
@RyanKnowsTech You only reboot once a week? I have sleep mode on my laptop but heck I power it right down when i'm finished using it or before bed etc?
@RyanKnowsTech ahh i see. since you seem to know what your talking about. which would you recommend for school. macbook air or macbook pro? i'm having a really hard time choosing and i gotta have one of the two in like 3 weeks.
@XxsheepxX100 Understood, those are two amazing machines. Personally, I'd take the MacBook Pro. It has better connectivity, and it's vastly more powerful. However, if you won't miss the FireWire Port and extra power, the MacBook Air would without a doubt be easier to carry around.
Hey Ryan, how are you liking the 15 inch so far in comparison to the 13 inch? I have a 13 inch i5 and I'm contemplating on getting a 15 inch because of the size. I like the 13 inch and it's really nice and all, but I find the 15 inch more comfortable because there is a great amount of space for typing that it feels great.
@JSantana319 I have a video coming up on this, actually. But, I love the screen real-estate and my resolution now! It makes working and viewing media so much nicer.
hey ryan, i just ordered my macbook pro 13 inch i5 about a month ago from bhphoto.com and it hasn't been delivered(tax issues because i live in Colombia) but i have a question...do you know if it would come with os snow leopard or with os x lion installed?? i'm eager to know! just answer if you think you know
@coolstuffer123 Probably Snow Leopard. Apple didn't start shipping them with Lion until the late July 20s. bhphoto probably got their machines a long time before that.
#JimBaww If this is your work then I suggest the 11" or 13" macbook air essays and web browsing not taking a high usage, believe imac is for office use and you will face problems in the future!
please someone HELP!? im thinking of getting either the 13" macbook pro or the 21.5" iMac (both entry level models) which one should i get? they are both the same price but with the iMac you get so much more! im going to use it for web browsing, writing up essays, a small amount of gaming and downloading movies/ music etc. all ive ever had was a laptop so i dont know how i would take to the change. please someone help me! thank you so much for taking the time to read this :)
@JimBaww i think you better off go with the macbook pro 13 inch base line if your main use is watching movies, browsing (etc). but if you want to do intensive stuff like video editing go for the iMac 2.5 inch.......
@RyanKnowsTech Although I'd love to have a 2011 model. I am an upcoming freshman in college. My only option is my gaming PC and an Asus Eee netbook. I am really interested in having your model. I live north of Cincinnati, OH
@megafast13 Mine is the 2.66 2010 with 8GB of RAM and a 7200RPM SATA drive. It's in good physical condition. Comes in box with all the things it came with new. As described on my previous videos, the only issue is the audio jack... clicks with headphones in but works perfectly with the built in speakers. I don't know if the issue is software or hardware and neither does Apple. I'm in-between Akron and Cleveland. I'm looking for $1000 for this $2000 (new, specced) MacBook Pro.
@iJGQ Very unlikely. I expect (hope) for them to remove the optical drive all together and make it smaller, more efficient, more powerful, or include a larger battery. Notice that Apple likes the Cloud- stuff online that we use our computers as a screen for. If you want a high quality movie, iTunes will let you use it wirelessly, Apple probably will not be supporting any form of hard media like that anymore.
Is that or is that not a 16:9 screen? It seems like it's a standard aspect ratio. It makes me very glad to see that someone's still making those! Widescreen isn't my cup of tea, since 95% of my computer use is for Internet. And hooray for slimness -- my ThinkPad L412 is morbidly obese. ;-)
@BosTechBoys You can't find the ones with 8GB of RAM and the high resolution display in the store, they usually only carry the baseline and stock models from Apple.
@RyanKnowsTech I've ordered my Macbook pro 15" with 8GB Ram for university!! how are you finding the machine?? is it fast?? and can i expect the new Lion operating system to be installed on my macbook pro when it arrives????
neat to see SSD coming down in price and heading towards being more common. thanks to your videos about SSD and videos like yours, it is confirmed more to me SSD is the future of storage versus HDD.
Hey Ryan -- Congrats! Beautiful, sleek case. Bet the next iteration comes sans optical drive? Would be nice to have an SSD/HD combo instead -- factory installed! Question: we know you were having major issues with your Lion install on your previous machine. Was this the main reason why you decided to get the new 15? BTW, the desktop photo on the Mac carton would have been the clue that Lion has been pre-installed on your new machine.
@evan1276 I got the 15 because of power. It's twice as fast as a specced 13 inch, and no slower than the 17! I should have figured out that it had Lion when I saw the box lol
Congratulations :) enjoy your new macbook. But why go for a 15 inch when you already have a mac at home? Wouldn't you want something a bit more portable?
@greysmoke321 Actually, I checked it out online. Twice the read/write for the same price as the one I have in there now. Maybe I'll upgrade this fall.. that would be incredibly fast.
I love your screen resolution on your new MBP, as is so high! I have seen your data doubler video, is a great video. That MBP will scream with the SSD. Are you going to get a LaCie thunderbolt external SSD? I would love to see you do a review of a thunderbolt external SSD.
I have a Lenovo y560p, it's about 3.5lbs it has an ati 6750 1gb, 6gb ram core i-7 2.0ghz, overclocks to 3.0ghz with the power boost or what ever it's called. Oh and windows 7 home premium.
@RyanKnowsTech so in otherwords, stick with baseline specs?
i already have the baseline model, the hinge was making funny noises so im getting it replacement. i have the opporunity to upgrade the new replacement to the high end model, but im not sureif thats worth the 450 dollars extra i woud haeve to pay. it also incldes upgrade to an anti glare screen, which i was going to get with baseline specs, as its only 100 more.
I can't wait for the new MacBook Pro coming out later on this year or as everyone is calling it the "15'" MacBook Air" either way I can't I need a new MacBook mines is going to be 3 years old already slow Core 2 Dual and only 2GB of RAM!!
Damn Ryan, after watching this video, I feel like going back to the 15 inch Macbook Pro once again, lol. If it wasn't because I'm on a budget now, then I would get it right now.
