Yes, but here is the problem. British Columbia has the highest tax rates than anywhere in Canada. The HST in coming in so you can now say taxes just went up 14%. This will make it harder for people to survive. The Olympics a a complete waste of money. It's just like Expo 86, everything sky rocketed in price after Expo. Same concept applies in this case.
Another reason why I think the Olymipcs here in Vancouver is pointless, is due to the fact that our economy is in a recession.
Think about it. We are in a recession, and we are paying millions and millions of dollars to build things like the athletes village, luge/ bobsled tracks, Olympic venues, the security team is getting paid. Half of the security team is off duty RCMP officers, that are getting paid. Etc.
We are also sending 145 million dollars in donations (which the government will match,) over to Haiti for relief efforts. Our government does not have that kind of money.
They should learn about budgeting money. We waste it on stupid things. Why not put all the money spent on the olympics towards a viable project such as education. Or how about creating a better form of an economical stimulus package. The only thing British Columbian government knows how to do is tax citizens to death. They lose money in one area so they raise taxes in another. This is ridiculous.
