It doesn't matter which comic company you favor, each one did it job. The fans were entertained and enlightened about human nature and culture. Thank God we don't have only one comic company or one national newspaper for that matter!

@Simonc319 Manga is published by multiple publishers, though. We're just talking about one single publisher here. How about we put all Western-style comics together and add their sales up?
Also, majority of the manga I see isn't even colored. That makes them faster to produce.

@riffology well keep this in mind; not alot of us americans read mangas. something dusnt have to be widely known to have alotta readers. you can look up hayate no gotoku or naruto on wikipedia both have quite alotta readers.

@Simonc319 I'm not American. If you go to DC characters' wikipedia, you can easily see they have a ton of readers, too. I'm actually Asian, in the Philippines, where there's a huge Japanese fanbase. And I still haven't heard of Hayate no Gotoku.
I heard about Naruto because of the cartoon. And even then, I've never seen an episode.

It is an official figure. This was part of the press kit they gave us at the presscon. They can't even count the people who read comics via downloads or sets of people who buy 1 title to read among themselves.
