  • @domk95 ive gotten a stock one to go 87 and it would have did 90 i think if i would have kept the throttle down but i also had a tail wind and i was afraid the motor would let go at that fast so i let off and that was with our 2008 our 2009 does a steady 85 86 but its also 20lbs heavier, they added weight to keep the front down but there both extremely strong wheelers

  • One time I drove my rancher at the salt flats in Arkansas and went approx 100 MPH blue smoking tires the whole 5 miles. BTW it is a super Rancher built just for me by Honda.

  • no stock bike does over 74. there is a such thing as a speed limiter that the law requires. you can get a programmer to eliminate the speed limiter and up the rev limiter. my yfz has a gytr cdi box which up my rev limiter to about 11,000 rpm. i have a 15 tooth front sprocket, 36 rear, 480kit, 13:1 compression cp piston, 50/50 112 racing fuel/93 pump gas, stage one hotcam on exhaust side, k and n filter, no lid, full yosh system and mine tops out at 92mph.

I bumped up 1 tooth on a stock stroke and got 92 but I guess you didn't read my comment completely. they all hit the limiter off the showroom floor but when you eliminate the speed limiter(cdi box) and up the rev limiter and give one more tooth in the front, all you need is power and hello...more speed....

  • @chadrp1022 i believe he is trying to make a point that stock bikes will not do "115" like so many people claim. My stock stroke banshee with decently ported cylinders and 35mm carbs with 14/42 gearing would top out at 87 and it was 2 seconds faster in a 1000 ft. track than a stock banshee.

  • yes 2 strokes make more hp per cc but thats not to say they're faster.....i'll gladly race a 500 two stroke on my 450 4 stroke in any situation including a drag race on any surface but in motocross or woods riding a 4 stroke is far superior, no debate. don't come at me with some bs, i have a 96 banshee in my living room(no joke) that has 2 hours on it, and its badass in its own way, but it isn't competitive with a four stroke in any way other than possibly a straight line.....

  • Sorry, but you haven't got a clue what you are talking about. The only reason GP1 went from 500cc 2 stroke to big 4 strokes is because that's what they could sell on the street, racing is a form of advertising. If you can't sell 2T for street use then why race em.

    Show me a 450 or 500cc 4 stroke that can make over 200hp, there isn't one. The NSR500 Hondas made over 200hp and weighed next to nothing. 250cc 2 stroke = same hp as a 450 4 stroke. 4 stroke has more tourque, but so do tractors

  • haven't got a clue? i've done almost every type of racing there is so i have an idea of what fast is. if you think a 500cc gp two stroke will run with an 800cc moto gp bike you're high. it doesn't matter that they make 200 hp( p.s. 800cc 4 strokes make 230-240), they make it for 250 rpm. the four stroke is actually rideable. i think that was my point earlier......so is a 2 stroke faster? sorry, no. maybe you should actually go ride something

  • Dude, you haven't got a clue. I didn't say an 8 year old NSR500 with 8 year old technology would run with an 800cc brand new GPS bike I said show me a 500cc 4 stroke that puts out 200+hp. You can't because they don't exist.. I race tune bikes, both 2 and 4 stroke. I said nothing about a GP500 being able to run with a GP1 bike. Maybe you should try reading. That is why when the limit for GP bikes was 500cc they all used 2 strokes. Honda tried the oval piston 4 strokes and got beat to crap.

  • After Honda tried the 4 strokes with oval pistons in the early 80ies they gave up and also went to 2 strokes. The 4 strokes could not run with the 2 strokes. It was only when they allowed 4 strokes to have much bigger engines than 2 strokes in the same class that the 4 strokes started winning and everyone switched to the big 4 strokes. Your 450 4 stroke does not get anywhere near the power output of a 450/500 2 stroke. If you think it does YOU must be high.

  • I ride both 4 strokes and 2 strokes, but I am not stupid enough to think my Honda CRF250 can get anywhere even close to the performance of my CR250, not even close, it has more like the performance of my CR125 (at least in HP if not torque) and I would be even more stupid to think my 450 would even get anywhere near to close the power of my KX500.

  • And as far as GP bikes are concerned, show me a 250cc 4 stroke GP bike that can put out 100hp. Almost al of the 2 stroke 250cc GP bikes are putting out that much, there aren't any 4 strokes, because they wouldn't be competitive. The only way to make a 4 stroke competitive is to have a much larger engine than the 2 strokes you are racing against.

    I repeat you haven't got a clue. Sorry you don't like the truth, but the truth it is. Maybe you should learn to ride a 2 stroke.

  • Yes I remember that. My point is that you need to have you have to have a much larger 4 stroke engine to put out the same power as a smaller 2 stroke.

    You said you would gladly race your 450 4 stroke against a 500 2 stroke, that woudln't be a good idea, you would lose.

    The 250crf puts out about the same hp as the 125 CR, but it has lots more torque, which should be obvious because it is 100% bigger. So if you have to bikes of equal CC the 2 stroke is always always always going to be faster.

  • It has a fender and no the subframe is not bent, if you know what you are doing you won't flip it. Wheelies are a piece of cake.

    2 strokes are more difficult to ride because of the narrow powerband, & on the bigger ones very harsh power band. But like I said, if you know how to ride them, cc for cc they are always more powerful and always faster. Your example above, again pits a 250cc 4 t against a 125 2t, same hp, but more torque from the 250 4t which means you don't have to be so on good.

  • 5002T will always wipe the floor with a 5004T.

    When you give examples, you need to compare bikes with the same size engines, not a 250 against a 125.

    If you raced your 450 2T against a 500 (or even 450 if there were one) 2T, you would lose, plain and simple. My old CR500from way back when would beat a 450CRF. It had massive acceleration and when geared up a little for road use (yes I put a a baja kit on it and used it on the road) it would pull over 100mph and still had mental acceleration

  • Yes a 2 stroke really is faster, that's why when the limit was 500cc for GP500 bikes, whether a 2 stroke or 4 stroke the 4 strokes were completely uncompetative.

    There's no way around that fact.

    That is why Honda moved to 2 strokes after investing hundres of millions in trying to develop competative 500cc 4 stroke GP bike. Only when the rules changed to allow 4 strokes to use much larger engines against the 2 strokes did they become competative. There's no way 'round that fact either.

    Look I understand you like 4 strokes. I have nothing against them. But you can not convince me that a 250 4T can beat a 250 2T. It just won't happen.

  • If 4 strokes are faster, why was GP500 racing completely dominated by 2 strokes? When the 4 strokes had to have the same size engines as the 2 strokes they could not compete. From the early 1970ies right through to 2001 not a single 4 stroke victory in GP500 racing, not one. For the 2002 season 990cc 4 strokes were allowed to race against 500cc 2 strokes and that when the 4 strokes started wining. A few seasons later that was reduced to 800cc that we have now.

  • 4 decades and not a single 4 stroke victory when the playing field was even, i.e. only 500cc engines allowed whether 4 stroke or 2.

  • There's no way around the fact that until they changed the rules for 4 strokes in racing, allowing them to be almost or even completely twice the size of the 2 strokes they were racing against, the 4 strokes didn't win Jack.

    4 decades of not winning anything when the 4 strokes had to have the same size engines as the 2 strokes.

  • of course it takes more skill to ride a 2 stroke well. i 4 stroke has a wide powerband and is easy to ride fast. A 2 stroke has a very narrow powerband and the power comes in all at once. if you are not in the right gear coming out of a corner you are not in the power band and then you are slow as shit. 2 strokes are much much faster for any given capacity, however you have to have the skill to ride them.

  • if your gettin pissed off at this video than you missing the point...i've raced banshees and 250r's for a long time...i was simply showing what a "stock" thundercat would do against a nicely modified banshee. utility and sport are 2 different things but i will say this...if you took mudding and drag racing as two fields and added up a total score after the two it would be the thundercat everytime no matter how you try to twist it up.

  • heres the obvious the shee is 650ccs smaller than the big arctic cat not to say the gearing is different and it has taller tires all making the cat top out at what it does but never could you get a utility quad runnin 10s like you can a banshee or smoke pro 'dirt bike' hill climbers with nitrous like the shee can or get a 100 horses from only a 485 kit maybe u should try racin the the 611u have almost 400ccs lol it wouldnt matter what u did with it ud get smoked:)

  • The thundercat is made for work that is why it is 300 pounds heavier than the banshee. The arctic cat is heavier for traction on the trails or anywhere you please to go. It is not made for racing.

  • In a straight line yes, and they better its a 1000cc vs a 450cc motor. Personally ide take a renegade over a thundercat any day. Lighter, just as fast, and though Can Ams arnt known for their reliability they are certainly more reliable than an arctic cat. Just my opinion
