i dont think that bruce retiring as the bat is such a bad idea....it makes alot of s sense. look at the phantom he comes from a long line of phantoms. Flash, Green lantern, all these characters have a sense of legacy. that fact that the never want to let batman or superman move on is what keeps the whole dc universe behind. Marvel is kicking there ass right now....because there not afraid to move forward.
Well that's not entirely true. Peter Parker is still Spiderman, The X-Men are still comprised of the (more or less) the same people, and Iron man is still Tony Stark. I think that the problem is how do you write in some new guy to take over the roll when no one else has the tragedy that Bruce has hanging over him, or the desire to set things right. The truth is that it's all well and good that Morrison writes this, but unless he keeps going someone will change it back sooner or later.
To be honest, Marvel has very few characters as well developed as Bruce Wayne/Batman or Superman/Kal-el/Clark Kent.
Also, the Flash is not as popular as Batman (though I love Flash) and the Green Lantern is a member of a corps, so changing the one who plays his role is easy.
Don't you think that the 'Lynch' story will be collected in TPB?
I haven't read any Wildstorm book in over three years and those were Authority. Can't see picking them up as I'd be totally lost.
I was at San Diego and don't recall much push for those books.
I've picked up the first three issues of FINAL CRISIS and I don't know if care at this point. I don't mind confusing, but it ignores so much of everything that went before. I also don't think I like where it's going.
I don't think Lynch will have it's own trade. I think they will bundle together World's end and throw Lynch in there, but when the story is just 3-5 pages at the back of every book than I can't see them doing a full trade unless it caries on for a very long time.
I feel the same way about FC, I'll keep reading (cause I'm an addict and I do these reviews, but I'm not that impressed.)
I dont read a damn thing in the DC universe(Vertigo doesnt count) and I'm wondering where I should start. I like Superman, The Titans, Batman and Green Lantern. Any idea guys?
I'll have to get back to you on what I think about Batman R.I.P so far, I only just got around to picking up all the main issues so far and havnt read them yet.. I felt I should get into them just to see what happens.
i think kurt busiek retconned it in his "THE THIRD KRYPTONIAN' story line. the bottle was destroyed by an alien and superman mentions that it wasn't the actual city to kandor but a portal.

How the HELL do you think Dark Horse is DC?
Also and I get to say this in retrospect, Secret Invasion was terribly written, and had next to no writing much less good writing...

What you said about New Krypton is the exact reason it's a good idea.

To each their own...I still think it's a terrible idea.

I agree 100% with your ideas about Superman and the New Krypton.
