  • It's interesting that in this version of this piece Greg's flute is mixed as somewhat harsh and blairing at times and, in the version from Random Roads the flute is just as intence and up front but, a much smoother and more unform sound like the engineer turned the treable down a bit.

I like bothe versions but, I have to be in the right mood to hear this one.

  • True his style is not first chair by his sound, but he adds so much style of his own that makes him a wonderful flute player. His beatboxing and his rough style make him my favorite musician on youtube.

  • It's weird to see how old this video is now... It doesn't feel that old. It seems like you guys are finally on the verge of getting the recognition you deserve. I've been following along since Inspector Gadget was at 390k hits. Eric and Peter are REALLY what Greg NEEDED to be MORE than just a flutest with a gimmick. Great jobs bringing modern flair and pop to such a fantastic, tried and true genere. You've really created something unique and new, guys.

  • I wish the quality of the video was better :P

    The music is beautiful.

  • He is singing almost all the time, which creates that buzzy effect.

Ian Anderson used to do it too and it is a standard effect in classical avante garde music.

But Pattillo makes an art out of it. Epic.

  • This is insane! Holy fuck balls. I love this.

  • You guys are crazy. I saw you guys live earlier today at SCHS. :D So awesome!

  • Isn't it 'casue when you try to beatbox, the air goes across the flute too sort of... Quickly etc? So it overshoots the notes mark and plays it an octave higher which also makes it sound loud? At least that's what happens when I try haha.

  • very nice, good auditory flavor!

  • I believe the flutes sounds loud because you are expecting a traditional flute sound. This guy does Beatboxing with the flute - It is his own personal style of playing.... Uniquely him.

  • You guys are Awesome.

  • Great piece of art.

  • bloody brilliant!! please teach me!! please!!

    much love

    xx mwah xx

  • XD sick! u guys rawk!

  • Woah..pretty great!

  • Damn. I love everything these guys do. They send shivers down my spine. Damn - why can't *I* play like that??

*goes home to get out her flute and try*

    Sigh...

    Damn.

    They're awesome.

  • dat was gr8!! i love da first part especially!!

  • Shame the flute seems so agressive. it's too loud but otherwise cool

  • But that's kind of the point of what he does. He gets all of the coarser, rougher sounds from the flute, where another flautist would play the softer melodies more familiar to classical music. If you watch a few of his other videos, you'll see what I mean. He has his masters in music, so he's not just blowing into a metal pipe. He knows exactly what he's doing.

  • I'm sorry but I've been watching his other videos and listened to the excerpts on the site and I think in this video the flute sound is too loud. Wich is not on the other videos

  • I agree with the flute being too loud but I dont think he would get the sound that needed without blowing hard enough which gives the flute its volume. This should get recorded in a studio.

  • They do have this on their new album, it's a really awesome album too.

  • I don't say that he's playing badly I just say that the flute was not recorded in a way that flatters it

  • I think he was just close to the mike mabye.

  • I've listened to this a few times now and have often thought about this comment. Aside from Greg Patillo's inherent style (which is rougher than what I'm used to - but frankly when you speak proper English you have every right to cuss like a sailor) I think this jam is intended to sound rough in terms of the flute part. He growls into the flute a good deal of the time. It's actually quite wicked that he doesn't sound like a 1st chair high school flautist doing what "she" was told.

  • sorry the recomment but i love the bass, great!

  • great video, great muzic

  • love da flute player (more) and his band, u guys r off da hook!!

  • I wouldn't say its Greg's band,he doesn't own the other two player's, their all on the same level.

  • I love the random ODD movements each of you make, it totally adds more to the talent!

  • i like winter in june alot. i realy like wat yall are doin with these jams.. yall need dome one like lupe fiasco rappin on this, spittin some soulfull shit. i love yalls muzik fa sho

  • actually you right that would be awesome having an amazing rapper like lupe collab with them it'd be true genius.....all for you there who gave him a thumbs down ... why ?

  • good, but the flute sounds a little brutal in this recording, the strings are fine though

  • lovin the nineties look on the video...lol and of course awesome performance

  • this is so nice!

  • oh jeee

  • i love this =] its great

  • Hmm... As a big fan of this musical group, I reluctantly say that this performance wasn't very good. Combine that with the fact the youtube audio quality of this video isn't very good, and you get a pretty mediocre performance. The CD version of this tune is my favourite track! but I don't think this one would be.

  • This is my favorite track on the CD as well...the video is not great, but I still like it.

  • Props for buying the CD, I just did as well, and it was worth every penny, not to mention the CDBaby confirmation letter was hilarious.

  • Yes, the CDBaby letter, hahahahaha! I liked it too. And by they way, I like your name: mindfullchaos... ;-) (Mine means: 11 of the fishes. It is German... If you wanted to know now when I liked your name..)

  • Whooaa not the beer!!

  • these guys are amazing, i bought their album on itunes and i can't stop listening to it!

  • Awesome sound, going to buy your cd at itunes. Great!!!

  • sounds like paramore mysery business

  • looks like a ipod commercial lol

  • yea... kinda dose...but it is still fu-reaking awesome!!

  • That's awesome! You sound amazing together.

  • He plays that way on purpose, you know. Hence the "beatboxing flute" :P. Some of the high notes aren't perfect, but lets see you do better.

  • Well, sirjuice. Do you think the flute is an easy instrument? I don't think so. So don't say it had a horrible tone, it was pretty good.

  • to me it just sounds like he needs to tighten up his emboucher, it's far too "breathy" for my taste. i enjoyed the video and the composition itself, but not his tone.

I'm not claiming to be a more competant flautist, and i think he's very good, i just think his choice of tone isn't what i go for. I'd prefer it tighter

  • Oh ok, sorry bout that juice.

  • Music is of course great all around! you guys are amazing. I thought the vid started getting better as it went on(starting around 50sec and on). Prior to that the color changes are cool but not as creative as the rest of the video. Keeo it up!

  • video is whack

    but the music is awesome

  • absolutly amazing keep it up

  • and wth he double-tongued while doing all that?!

  • obviously he was singing his multiphonics XD cool

  • absolutely amazing

  • With the normal colors it would be great ^^ But it still ROCKS 5 stars as usual;D

  • I don't always like this kind of music...but this is awesome (not too mention beatboxing flute...)

  • cddddd :p

  • cddddddddddd

  • AmaZING!!!

  • sick bass line

  • So did you guys compose this or someone else?

Does anyone know the composer of this song?

    thx

  • Puzzle is a PROJECT original

  • COOOL!! Great composition!!

  • cool camera effects... great "jam" as usual.

  • Yeah, they have good talent, but they need to work out some sound bugs. That flute just drowns everything out. It sounds good, but production needs an overhaul.

  • gotta get better mics, the flutes cracking.

  • Personally I like them better without the bass. =\

  • U need the BASS! for a better overall sound

  • wow that would just not work, dude.. bass is essential for jamming--it keeps not only the beat, but it just completely owns like many other instruments.

  • oooooooooooo, GENIAL! esto es lo mejor k eh escuchado! me encanto!

  • I like this groove. Very cool. Check out my flute videos. The video is interesting but I might even enjoy it more with just watching these talented performers without the funky effects.

  • Fantastic!

  • Pomeroy Strikes Again...who are these guys?

  • Really really nice. Love the groove, reminds me a bit of Jethro.

  • the video is actually almost as neat as the music...almost

  • that was just AWESOME

  • and to think i was going to give up flute

  • very cool!

  • Proof that you can never have enough bass. :D Love it.

  • love how there is 3 pages of comments and it was added 14 hours ago lol
